Mila has always wanted to be that independent chick. That is, until the day she locked eyes with the most handsome man she's ever seen. With him in her life, her dreams fade away and her focus is now completely on him. Ryan is everything her parents tried to protect her from. I mean, this dude has "hood" written all over him. Having sheltered Mila her entire life, it's clear that a man of his caliber is far out of her league. Despite the unintentional hurt this would cause, Mila races off into a world of fairytales totally unprepared for the twisted reality it brings. After sleepless nights, countless arguments with multiple women, and no family left by her side, Mila realizes this is not the life she wants and the only person she has left to turn to is Tracey; the best friend you could ever have. But, with Ryan's violent outbursts and possessiveness this may have been a bad idea. When the two women crosses his path, things gets ugly fast. In a situation like this, do you submit to the man who stole your heart or remain loyal to the friend you call your ride or die? Either way, a choice has to be made leaving someone dead at the end of the day.
This book was just an okay read for me. Mila made a choice in her young life to choose love over family. Her family and friend, Tracy, are constantly trying to open her eyes to who Ryan really is. She will soon find out if love is truly the best decision to make. There were a few editing issues here and there. At about 30% the book kind of lost its excitement and I found myself not really into it. I also feel like it lacked some character development. I am willing to read another book by the author to see her growth as an author.
