Paul Carson is a doctor based in south Dublin where he runs an Asthma and Allergy clinc for children. He has published a number of health books and, as well as weiting various medical journals, he was editor of Irish Doctor magazine. Dr Carson is married and has two children.
I loved this book! It is on the top shelf with all my favorites. I chose it because Dr. Carson is my allergist. To me the beginning was a bit slow but I wasn’t in the mood to read and wanted to finish before my next appointment. It picked up very quickly and then I couldn’t put it down. I seriously think this book would make a great movie! I’ve now added the rest of his books to my wish list.
An apparent suicide is questioned by the new coroner in Dublin. This brings him into conflict with the state, banking issues and criminals. His doggedness in working to ensure justice makes him the hero but his family may have thought differently. Worth reading.
I read the rest of Carson's books over the years, starting when I was a teenager. I always enjoyed the thriller aspect but I also liked the characters. Inquest is the first of Carson's books I have read and disliked. The thriller aspects are great, but there is way too much repetition of back story and tired cliches, the characters are not well developed (even the main character is one dimensional and I didn't care what happened to him by the end). The chase aspects are good but aside from that it is a poor formulaic thriller Im afraid.
Paul Carson hasn't released a book for a while so I was delighted to see his one in my local book shop. It is an interesting tale about a coroner who has a case of suicide before him that doesn't stack up so he decides to investigate. Well worth a read but not my favourite book of the year.
This book was recommended to me by a friend. I love crime thrillers and "Inquest" appealed to me. It is set in Dublin and the central character is Dr. Michael Wilson, the Coroner for Dublin. "Inquest" is a fast paced, tense thriller that I found hard to put down. Well worth a read.
