Vincent has always known his fathers’ they are both vampires, escaped from a fighting camp where they were forced to combat the demons that come to Earth from another dimension through a portal. He’s also known he was special, brought into the world by his mother’s magic at the cost of her life. It gives him the strength, speed and acute senses of vampires without their weaknesses, a combination unheard of.And he’s known that both facts were to be kept secret at all cost, lest his fathers be sent back to fight an endless battle, or he be studied like a lab rat for the rest of his life. So, during his junior year in high school Junior, when he receives an anonymous text message that hints someone knows, he’s determined to figure out who it is and how to keep them quiet before his fathers find out and decide they should all run and hide. This task, however, might be easier if his best friend didn’t suddenly show a deep interest in vampires, demons and fighting camps… and if the girl he has a crush on didn’t distract him so much…

Being a teenager can be complicated.

Being a teenager when you happen to be a Shifter, when the universe is your playground, when you live with vampires or your world is under siege by demons is even more complicated.

Or at least, that’s what Angela’s characters tell her; her own teenage years were fairly uneventful… and still, rather complicated at times, too.

Secrets have a way of coming out as a teenage boy finds out in this mesmerizing tale. Vincent has always kept the secrets of his family, he knew he had to in order to keep them safe, but he’s also curious about his mother and the things that his fathers won’t talk about.

This steady paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers intrigued throughout with a fascinating world, captivating characters and drama and suspense. The author describes the scenes with well written details that capture the imagination and arouses the curiosity. The strong compelling characters are easily understood and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning and tensions building throughout the story regarding Vincent’s secret.

Vincent has a crush on a young girl at school and after a fight with his best friend he comes to the conclusion that she is the one who knows his secret, which sets a series of events in motion that could prove disastrous for Vincent and his dads, so when his questions and investigating actually do lead to the unthinkable, his dad’s becoming imprisoned again, he does whatever it takes to get them back.

The story is fascinating and takes place in an intriguing world, and it combines typical teenage boy drama with what that teenage boy would have to go through to keep major secrets not only about his fathers, but also about his self. This of course creates lots of drama and emotional turmoil for the young man. The reader can’t help but get further drawn into the story with every little tidbit revealed about his fathers’ life and empathize with Vincent and how he deals with the burden. I enjoyed the story, even though it’s not really my type of book because it is more of a drama with paranormal elements than a kick ass paranormal or paranormal romance.

Kindly provided with an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review......

Oh this was a dozzie of a read !!. What a world !!. Earth is open a la carte to all the other world creature.....vampires have signed on the dotted line to keep earth safe but this has high cost for them.

This is Vincent's story and his dad's (who are two vampires). His mum was a mage and died giving birth and even though there is this HUGE amount of paranormal round him Vincent is human.

The story unfolds after an ominous text is received that states "I know"....
We fall into Vincent's world as he tries to save his dad's who become prisoners and basically we journey with him to rescue his parents. This read was full of twist and turn and had me siting on the edge of my seat. Yes, it is YA but it is a whole lot more I felt.....it was addictive, gripping !!

A really brilliant tale. The reason it was not 5 sparkly ones was I would of liked a bit more back history, just to fill a few mental gaps I had. Nevertheless I really enjoyed stepping into Vincent's world !!!

Well done Angela and many thanks for this opportunity. I would love to read about Vincent as a man one day if the mood takes you to write it ;0)

Later peeps xx

This was a really good, interesting book about a 16 year old boy Vincent. He is a typical teenager with the usual problems, and concerns, and so much more. His whole life is secrets, and having to hold back from everything. He is a great kid, however makes his share of mistakes, and assumptions. Which in his circumstances, leads to big problems. The Author told the story in a way that kept it fun, and intriguing. This is the first book I have read by this Author, but it won't be the last.

YA with a twist. boy falls in love with girl, but can she get past the secret he's keeping? There is not enough action in this for me to consider it a full vampire novel. More like.. vampires are a side consideration on this YA novel and provide the minor conflict, almost an after thought, to the remainder of the book. The way the author writes draws me in though.

When I first started this book I had trouble getting into it because I didn't like the main character Vincent. Although he has reason to be whiny and a bit self-pitying, what with his two Dad's being vampires and his mum being dead, but he just seemed a bit too whiny. I also got annoyed with his constant stupidity especially when it came to his love interest Kirsten. Once I had overlooked this I started to enjoy the book. I thought it was an interesting book and I liked the idea of vampires fighting for the good of humanity and fighting demons. HOWEVER, once i read the ending my opinion of the book dropped dramatically. All through the book the reader discovers through Vincent about the horrors going on inside the Vampire camp. After discovering this you would think there would be some kind of big and dramatic show down. So we start to get into the showdown when suddenly Vincent discovers that the new leader of the camp is actually trying to fix things and they were never in danger. Talk about anti-climatic. The way the book ended just seemed too neat and tidy and Vincent, although he was the main character, didn't really do anything throughout the entire book except for worry, discover his mum's diaries, visit the camp/complex and cause more trouble.

Overall this book would have been an enjoyable read if it wasn't for the attitude of the main character Vincent and the too-perfect and anti-climatic ending.

There were so many fantastic things happening in this book. Demons have opened portals to earth. Vampires sign up to fight them and keep them from taking over the world. Camps were built close to the portals and that's where vampires lived. Mages kept the portals contained so that the demons couldn't escape while fighting vampires. The world thought this agreement with the vampires worked very well. Vampires signed up to fight for a certain amount of time and were supposed to be discharged from service when that time was up but that was not how it was happening.

Vincent, with a mage for a mother, a vampire for a father, was born of magic. His parents met in one of the earlier mentioned camps. When she discovered that the vampires were being mistreated, she snuck Michael and Lucas out. His mother died in child birth and he was raised by his two vampire dads, Michael and Lucas. They lived in secrecy ever since. What happens when the secret is no longer a secret?

The story line was genius! It grabbed me in the beginning and didn't let go until the last page and still I wanted more. A different and refreshing twist on vampires. Outstanding YA Paranormal! I am definitely a fan of Angela Yseult! I am not normally a YA reader but this author has such an amazing way with words, that I forget that it's YA. I can't wait to see what's next.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

This is a story that is told from the main character’s point of view – told in first person.

Vincent is a typical high school student who just so happens to be a little different. And that becomes quite apparent by the time chapter one is over. It also becomes apparent how tough it is to hide those differences from others. This story also shows that prejudice still exists – even in the future. It also makes you wonder if Vincent’s world is something that will come to be in the future. Just like in our own history, the possibility of change can turn things around for the better.

Angela shows her readers how tough it is to be Vincent. I loved this book because we get to see how frustrating life is for him. His life is actually like that of other teenagers, which to me makes this more contemporary then, paranormal. And it’s a great family story even though the family dynamic is slightly different.

Just because this is written for the Young Adult reader doesn’t mean that you can’t give this book a chance. One reason this is a YA is because there is no sex and I don’t know that I would have liked it as much if those scenes existed. I recommend that you add this book to your library.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

I haven’t read a vampire book for what seems like ages. I’ve spent a fair amount of time reading books about vampires so when I saw this book, I decided to give it a try. And I’m glad I did!

When you read or hear the word “vampire” you automatically think “blood-sucking, human killing demon” or something similar right? Well, not with this book. It was such a different take on vampires and humans. I liked it!

Vincent is our main character. Even though his father is a vampire and his mother was a mage, he’s human. And acts like any other teenage boy his age. He’s stubborn and can be defiant at times. He acts rebelliously and even a little reckless.

His father’s, Michael and Lucas, were interesting, and both different from the other. I found it fascinating learning about their history in the book. It would be fun to have a prequel book about them and everything they went through.

The book flowed effortlessly. It was fast-paced and a fun, quick read. The plot was excellent and different. This is not your typical vampire book. The only thing I would change about this book is the length. I would have loved more. Maybe even thrown in an action scene or two with demons.

ARC REVIEW: Demon World by Angela Yseult
-
**Thank you Netgalley and Angela Yseult for approving my request to review this book.**

I'm sucker for vampire stories. LOL, I love them blood sucking creatures! Make-believe beings. That's why when I saw Demon World's availability for request in NetGalley, I asked for it without second thoughts!

Vince, received a text message from an anonymous sender. The text says:

"I know."

This part gave me a Pretty Little Liars vibe. Like I'm welcoming A to my life again, "hello, A." No, seriously, PLL is the first thing that came in to my mind reading the first part.

Vince is a vampire. Well his dads are, and his mom's a mage. He kept their family's secret until one day he received a text saying the sender knows their secret.

I thought this one will be one of those cliched vampire-themed books, but I was wrong. It was utterly amazing! The story line is one of a kind! The pace flowed flawlessly and without a doubt extraordinarily.

Everything in this book intrigued me. The characters, their abilities, the world made.

I had an enjoyable and intense experience reading this book.

For vampire lovers, Demon's World will be one of your perfect reads!

**Thank you to Angela Yseult for providing me a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley for the purposes of honest review.**

Demon World was a refreshing teen paranormal fantasy in many ways, but it did fall flat in others. I was really impressed with the world building and the mythology present in the story, particularly concerning how it sets itself so far apart from most other teen novels about vampires and demons by presenting vampires as the protectors of humanity. Overall the story was quite compelling and I found the writing to be immersive. I could never quite love it, though, because I was not interested in the main character or his voice. I felt too much of the narration was wasted on teen angst and overall I was never quite sure why Vincent needed to be the main character, since he didn't seem to matter all that much to the overall plot. I was also disappointed by the ending, as it felt sort of like a cop-out and was too clean for a book that had such a well-written build. It seemed like the entire story was the prelude to a really intense climax that never happened.
I would recommend to younger readers who enjoy paranormal fantasy, but I think the main character will be difficult for older readers to engage with.

Vincent’s father had a secret that he was taught at an early age to never say anything about, which was that his was a vampire. Vincent’s mom had died giving birth to him. Vincent was stronger, faster, had better reflexes and sharper senses than anyone else but he was human even though his dad was a vampire. It was important for Vincent not to stand out in anyway. Vincent had received a text on his phone stating “I Know” but later on he found out Kristen had sent it. Kristen was a girl he had been crushing on. Kristen wanted to do an article on vampires with him. Vampires were to protect humans from demons who opened portals to earth every couple of years.
I really enjoyed this book. The story and plot were good. A different slant on a story with vampires and demons. Characters were really good too I especially liked Vincent and all he had to go through. I recommend.

This was an extremely fast and enjoyable read. I really liked the different twist on the vampires. Their basically the typical vampire but they are made to fight demons.
I really liked Vincent. The book is told from his point of view. He's a typical teenager but has a few quirks. Like his dads both being vampires. Both of his dads are great too. I really felt for him. He wanted to know more about his dads past and his mom who died in childbirth.
This was very fast paced and had some mystery and suspense to it. I really liked the writing style. It flowed really nice. I hope to read more in this world. Its very unique.
