When Dan Lived in the Woods

Rate this book
Company Director Dan Donovan is on the edge, plagued by work pressures, a claustrophobic relationship and a nagging feeling there must be more to life. One day, at breaking point, he walks away without looking back to live in the woods behind his house. Life in the woods brings new battles; extreme weather, poisonous plants and the bitter cold, but at least Dan is free to live a life that he is in charge of - a life free from responsibility, pressures and technology, where he can enjoy the ebb and flow of each day and realise what is really important in and it isn't how much time he spends in the office. Meanwhile, Dan's girlfriend and his secretary begin a frantic search to find him - and themselves - along the way. Will they trace him? And, if they do - will he come home? A book for anyone who has ever wanted to run away.

Disclaimer: While I aim to be unbiased, I received a copy of this for free to review.

This is one of the best independently published novels I’ve ever been sent! It tells the story of a stressed executive who, when struggling with the threat of dismissal at work and the departure of his girlfriend, loses the plot a bit and runs away from it all to go and live in the woods. Who hasn’t had the urge to do the same?

The writing is top notch, the story-line is fantastic and the only complaint I have is that it wasn’t longer.
