Is your baby hungry or tired? Does she have a tummy ache or does he just need a diaper change? It’s easy to know when you and your baby learn to sign together.
Studies show that babies who sign develop increased vocabularies, experience less frustration, and begin to speak earlier. These short stories, playful pictures, and clear instructions are practical for parents and fun for older siblings. Let’s Sign! is designed to help you more fully enjoy mealtime, playtime, bedtime, and other daily activities with the baby in your life.
I read the whole thing standing in the bookstore (gently, so I didn’t bend it). I knew I was in for a good one when the inside front cover had the entire ASL alphabet displayed. I know a smattering of ASL signs myself—they’re really handy when I’m wearing a mask! I can only imagine how useful it is to be able to communicate with your baby while they’re still working on speech.
Wow...I simply loved this beginners sign language book. The instructions for the basic signs are so clear! I would buy this book if I were to teach the baby in my life some of the basic words. I wonder if there are more...
Has real ASL signs (as opposed to made up baby signs) and enough of them that you could actually put together some simple sentences/phrases with this book. Otto is interested in ASL right now and this was a good find.
Great book. Have bought it for other babies and parents /grandparents. When my grand-daughter was 8 mos old she was able to tell me she was hungry at the grocery store by signing, and we learned it in this book!
Ages 0 and up. A book of basic American Sign Language ("eat", "play", "father") for toddlers and older. Note: American Sign Language and German Sign Language (Deutsche Gebärdensprache) are extremely similar. British Sign Language, however, shares less than 30% of its vocabulary with American Sign Language.
