He attended White Plains High School before enrolling at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he graduated from Harvard with an honors degree in archaeology. He then attended Tufts University School of Medicine and did his post-doctoral training at the New England Deaconess and the Massachusetts General Hospitals becoming a board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Very unique story to me
CONTAINS SPOILERS!
I didn't know if I would like this, but thought I would give it a try. I really enjoyed it for the most part. I liked the characters, who had some depths and it was a rather good take on what might happen with opening a gateway to another world... just the world was our own but uniquely different... It was literally hell that had no end... previously! It has some good twists along the way too.
But, I was a but disappointed that the only thing that sent people to hell was murder, I believe that really there are many other reasons that people would go there. Also that it all ended fairly happily, as is common with American books and movies is nice but truly predictable even with the final twist.
I find it rather irritating that like many Americans the author found the past tense too difficult to use properly and odd spellings/endings to words are used instead of changing the word correctly, although that won't bother most readers.I
Overall if you can bear the bad grammar then give it a go, it's quite a good yarn.

A good, but frustrating, read!
On the whole I enjoyed this trilogy; the idea was very clever and thought-provoking, the "world-building" , as it were, was excellent, and each character was fully fleshed-out and felt very alive, with their personalities extremely well described and realistic. The only negative I have is that I was so frustrated by the number of, at-first seemingly insurmountable, disbelief-suspending problems that had to be resolved by all involved, only to solve them all fairly easily, actually (lots of happy coincidences and good luck), and all just in the nick of time, to boot! I was also a tad disappointed with the ending, which felt rushed, and almost a cop-out. Despite that, this trilogy is something that I know I'll be ruminating over and reflecting on a long time after finishing it.

Not Glenn’s best work
I pushed through and finished it but it was a struggle at times. The story is disjointed and hard to follow.

I liked it. 3 books in 1. Being an italian I spent long time with them. Initially I enjoyed more than after having passed the second book. Strange final, I liked it

I only have the first book but on Goodreads the only way I could find it was the box set. So, my review is only about the first book.
I have read all of Glenn Cooper's novels to date. But, this one.. is way different than anything he's ever written. Don't get me wrong.. many will love it. But, for me.. it was a little to out there. The physic entanglement intrigued me at first. But, then.. it just became a story that was a little to predictable. As I neared the end.. I already figured that many others were going to be swapped back and forth between this world and "hell". I couldn't really get attached to the characters. And, honestly didn't care who made it or didn't. I feel badly posting a negative review. But, this one.. just wasn't my cuppa tea. Sorry. :(

Volume I of Down has more adventure, science, history and imagination than I ever thought possible. The book begins with a super-collider experiment and continues into possible regions hidden in the make up of matter. In a different reality called "Down," evil figures from the past continue their activities with a new dimension: no one can die, but everyone can suffer. Across this incredible wasteland, a love story plays out. The first book was exciting right up to the end, then curses! the end is only a new beginning. Now I am anxiously awaiting for the next volume.

Interesting idea with some good themes similar to the Riverworld saga, but in the end the narrative just seemed to ramble at times and had lots of improbable escapes from situations.
