We have been led to believe that the most private and secure possession we own is our thoughts.
What if that isn't true?
When police call in forensic psychology professor Elizabeth Monroe to consult in a series of strange murders, for the first time in her stellar career, she’s not sure where to begin.
Elizabeth sifts through clues that will lead to a psychological profile of the killer. But when the murders are being committed by average people with no criminal history, she must investigate a place where evidence hides. The subconscious mind. Elizabeth discovers a path that will lead to a diabolical scheme bringing her face-to-face with the most calculating criminal mind she has ever encountered.

They were just too many improbable things happening for me to finish.
Mr. Lowe gets details and dialogue so right in the Sean O’Brien series, so I’m not sure how he stumbles and fumbles so badly in the Dr.,Elizabeth Monroe series.
First, a sitting professor isn’t going to be committing HIPPA violations one after the other by speaking to the media (and the student’s peers too!!), made doubly egregious when the crime against the student is a sex crime, like rape.
I’m going to try not to divulge spoilers for those who still wish to read this, so my only other example will be this: using the wrong words is distracting! Using CURTESY instead of COURTESY is an unforgivable error, and I’m floored that no editor or proof-reader caught this. There are other mistakes and errors, but these are a few of the main ones since I stopped before I got even halfway through the book. There were so many things, I took screenshots, and I just counted them, and I have 22!
I’ll be on board if there’s another Sean O’Brien book, but I’m finished with this series.
I read the first one and was not impressed but tried this story to kind of give it a chance as I so loved the Sean O'Brien series. A detective and a supposedly brilliant woman wait until three or four murders are committed, along with an overdose suicide before it dawns on them to check the medications and who prescribed them? If I wondered from the first why this was not done, one has to question why the doc and the detective were so obtuse. Feeling generous giving this two stars.
I enjoyed reading this crime drama novel. It was very entertaining. I am a huge fan of author Tom Lowe after reading all of his Sean O Brien novels. This is the second Elizabeth Monroe novel I have read and I enjoyed it as much as the first one. the author really got into the mental illness associated with the characters.
Mr Lowe's books are so good! I'm this one, a medical person charged with helping people, is instead, goading them to murder and more. Dr Monroe is brilliant when she and her detective friend solve the mysteries and save lives. Mr Lowe's writing is so lyrical, and his story weaving takes us right there with him.
This is a book that keeps the mind working on the mystery presented at that moment. It seemed to be constant, different mysteries popping up. A great read.
finished yesterday 12th july 2021 good read four stars really liked it kindle owned and the price was right...i think at one time you could go see a movie for that price...or three, at the right theatre. mind control....to use a convenient label...anymore, have to wonder if it isn't happening on a scale unheard of before. one thought i had...wouldn't a certain investigative vector have begun before it did? but it did begin and it ended. and hypnosis...saw a popular hypnotist...twice...entertainment, right...funny thing was, 2nd time, one of the volunteers from the audience, that was his second trip, as well....hypnotist leans over and says sleep to the volunteer's ear and the guy's head drops...heh! had to have been several years or maybe only one...between the the two shows. onward and upward.
