I loved reading this book. It is well written. As a Preschool Teacher I am always on the hunt for books for the children. When I received this book my attention was captured by the brilliant colors! Then when I began to read it, I was very impressed by the story line and how it was written. The lesson that came forth about taking things that don't belong to you(stealing), is priceless and presented in a way that children as well as adults can relate to! Not to mention that the children that I teach really enjoyed all of the colorful pictures! Job well done. I will definitely recommend this book to others!

I am happy to share this amazing book written by Dr. Shon S Lewis called, "Coco's Courage:meeting the Dentist (Coco's Life Adventures Book)." This is a children's book that helps teach in the way of the Lord when making decisions that can seem scary. I recommend to anyone wanting their child to be mindful of God's direction and to know His peace. I love the options to order for kindle, audiobook, hardcover or paperback. 5 stars!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve last read a children’s book, let alone a Christian children’s book, as I’ve been engrossed in reading/reviewing nonfiction Christian books for adults. This is why I’m having my Christian inner-child to do the reviewing for me.

As a young Christian child, I’ve enjoyed reading this adorable book written by Dr. Shon Shree Lewis because it reminds me of when I used to go to Sunday School while my parents were inside the church, praying to the Lord.

In Sunday School, I can remember the teacher always wanting to teach us something about being a good Christian and telling us stories the way Jesus did when he went around teaching others to do what they should be doing. I liked preventing to be Coco, the girl in the story for this book, as she learned about not stealing, which is going against one of the ten commandments that the Lord has given us to follow. I liked that the person writing this book did not try to hit anyone over the head with the book’s lesson.

The book also teaches that when you do something wrong, you will get punished for it; since Coco stole candy, her punishment was to go to the dentist. Seeing that she was afraid, her parents told her there’s nothing to be scared of because the Lord is always with you making sure you have the courage to face anything.

To teach other children and me these two important lessons in growing up, I am happy to give the person who wrote this story and this book 5 GOLD STARS.

Disobedience and Prayer

A little girl named Coco learns the hard way that disobedience brings pain, suffering and embarrassment.

She finds candy that doesn't belong to her and takes it. That's bad enough, of course, but when she eats all this candy, she reaps the full penalty of her disobedience: a tooth cavity.

The cavity is bad enough, but now she has to face up to her actions, which is about as painful as the cavity itself. She has to tell her mom and dad! How embarrassing it is to confess our wrongdoings,

Now she has to make restitution for the wrong she had done: she must allow a dentist to operate on the damaged tooth. But Coco is afraid of the dentist, so her mom and dad pray with her. And God gives Coco the courage she needs to have her tooth fixed as good as new.

What a beautiful illustration of a lesson we all must learn: sin has consequences that spin out of control! Yet our gracious God is always there for us, restoring our live, when we ask Him, every time we make mistakes.

This wonderful children's book shares so many aspects for successful and well-rounded parenting. While it centers on little Coco getting a tooth cavity from stealing candy and eating every piece, the story expands from that point. Coco learns about healthy eating, that it's wrong to steal and lie and how to trust God in faith through prayer.

Her parents firmly but lovingly teach her what she did wrong and that there are consequences she must face. She learns through prayer to have the courage to visit the dentist to get her tooth filled. Her mother explains the process in detail but in a way Coco can understand at her age to keep her calm. She isn't a bad child, just growing up and learning lessons that her wise parent's are happy to teach her.

This is a great book for children. The illustrations are beautiful and perfectly describe each situation. They're cute and adorable and little Coco makes a great character for a continuing series of teaching books for children and parents, caretakers or guardians. I highly recommend for young children.

I just read Coco’s Courage: Meeting the Dentist, by Dr. Shon Shree Lewis. This delightful book was a joy to read, and it arrived right on time, because one day after reading it, my beloved nieces had to go to the dentist. They faced this challenge with such grace and determination. No fears, no tears. I am so grateful for this adorable read which will prove to be a voice in young children doing right and living right.

Moreover, it is so beautifully illustrated, little Coco looks a lot like my two little ones who can identify with her in so many ways. So much so, we are looking forward to reading more adventures with Coco. A must have in every young child’s library.

Great Read for children and a Parenting Resource. 🙂
The plot of book is powerful and meant to teach children
not to steal candy and purposely apart of the story to teach children Christian morals and values that stealing is wrong.
Also teaches children to have courage and not to fear going to the Dentist. Helpful for children health, morals,
and personal growth. Stay tuned to the series for more of Coco's Inspirational stories.

Great Read

Excellent example of the challenges that a person of any age can sympathize with. The fear, the anxiety, the reward of courage, the power of praying through it, and the gratification of knowing that a loving God and family will see you through .

A sweet story about Coco's trip the dentist to help ease the fears of kiddos going on their first trip to the dentist. It's a good reminder/life lesson to children to not eat too much candy! Beautiful illustrations.
