About the author

James Douglas Muir "Jay" Leno is an Emmy Award-winning American stand-up comedian and television host who succeeded Johnny Carson as host of "The Tonight Show" on May 25, 1992. He hosted the show until May 29, 2009 when, despite his high ratings, he was replaced by Conan O'Brien. The poor ratings which Conan O'Brien received as host of "The Tonight Show" resulted in NBC bringing Leno back as host on March 1, 2010. He continued to host the show to critical and popular acclaim. In 2013, despite still having the highest late night television ratings, NBC decided to replace Leno with Jimmy Fallon as host. Leno's final show aired on February 6, 2014.

This book was truly inspiring to me. In 3rd grade i had wanted to be the funniest kid in the whole school and of course, like any mother would do, she bought me a book on how to be a funnier person. Which just so happened to be this book! In this teaching, Jay Leno tells you his tricks on how to make people laugh, his secrets to making something lame into being hilarious, and how to be just plain funny. I didn't, although, enjoy this book as much as i did in 3rd grade. I honestly have no use for this book, but it did bring back good memories from when i was obsessed with comedy. Throughout the book Jay gives you tips on what to do in common situations for how to crack a good joke, and explains when it isn't and is a good time to be funny. He also gives you some of his best jokes, and his greatest lines.

I would prefer this book t any young readers who are looking for teachings on how to be a funnier person. Maybe some adults too, if they were EXTREMELY interested in becoming a more hysterical person. Overall, this is a great book on how to become funnier. Although, i enjoyed it more in 3rd grade than I last month!

The Bok How To Be The Funniest Kid In The Whole Wide World (or just in your class) is a humor book written by Jay Leno. There really is not a story to this book at all its just mostly jokes. However, the first 3 pages set up his backstory. The story goes is that Jay grew up in New England. One day this lady comes and tells him the only way to be a successful comedian is if your father is one. The first time he made people laugh was a happy accident as a four-year-old. He then went on to become the comedian today. After the backstory the book just goes straight into jokes, each chapter has jokes relating to a topic. i.e animals, sports, geography. Some of them gave me a laugh while others fell apart. In addition, there are a few Ask Jay sections where it's like an FAQ about his life, nothing that special. Overall it was very short only about 140 pages, Knowing its fast to read pages I do wish it went on for longer. Overall this is a joke book that can maybe appeal to readers who are in a humorous and light read mood.

I bought this for my son. I'm not that into jokes anymore, but even so I enjoyed quite a few of them. My favorite: Why did the cat cross the road? Because her owner didn't want her to. There are also a number of jokes I've heard many times before. The sidebars are brave and sweet and are what might make this book stand out from other joke books for someone who is more serious about comedy than I am.

Got this to learn some child-appropriate knock-knock jokes to teach my 4 yr old who loves them but can't seem to understand how they work. I thought he'd like to add to "Knock knock. who's there? a banana"

This book is for a little older child. There is a section of knock knock jokes, but very few that I think my 4 yr old would get.
