Excellent primer for those new to "reading" the Bible. I teach for the Catholic Biblical School and many first year students need some if this very basic 'mapping' of the Bible.

Also, Paprocki does an excellent job in capturing the essence and usefulness of The Interpretation of the Bible from the Pontifical Biblical Commission. (This is a resource that we require students to read gin into their third or fourth year and is really critical in their scholarship, but some of it would be much better to be introduced earlier on in the four year program.)

A great adult Catholic introduction to the Bible! Simple, helpful historical information, step by step, and has neat cartoons and notes to keep it light. It assumes you are a Catholic, and need some help reading the Bible :)

Give you a broad overview of the bible, and I love that he helps you navigate the bible right away. There are bookmarks you can cut out in the back. Each bookmark is for a division in the Bible (Pentateuch, History, Wisdom, Prophets, Gospel, Acts, Letter, Revelation) and the author makes bullet points on each bookmark that describe the main stories of that section.

The only drawback is that there's not as much mention of the beauty of the writings in the Bible, and what they means. But if you are someone who gets lost in the writing class jargon about the beauty of writing, this will help because this book will not bog you down in it.

This is really only useful if you have NO idea how to read/study the Bible. As in, you don't know what 1 Cor. 13:1-5 means. If you've had any background in "how to read the Bible", or you went to Catholic school, this is going to be all old news to you.
