Okay, so every day since the baby was born has been a dirty sweats/no mascara/bad hair day kind of day. You don't need your mother to tell you it's time to lose that just-home-from-the-hospital look before it sticks forever. You've got Dana Wood, patron saint of stylish new moms everywhere, to show you how to take world-class care of yourself - drumroll please - after the baby's born, and beyond! In this sensibly chic guide, Wood reveals the secrets of surviving the emotional, physical, and spiritual challenges that emerge in that bleary-eyed, sleep- and time-deprived first year. In the trademark Momover style popularized in her eponymous blog, she provides the motivation you need to hop off the new-mommy self-pity train, and get with a new and improved, post-baby program. What's more, she proves that doing right by yourself is just another way of doing right by your baby. Because centered, happy you = centered, happy baby!
eeehhhh. this book is okay. it is not written for your average, middle-class new mom, in my opinion. for example, she talks about how she hired a nurse/nanny to help out when they first brought the baby home. they ended up keeping someone similar for the weekends for almost the first year of her new baby's life. what??? there is some information in there that makes the book worthe renting from the library and skimming when you have a few spare minutes.
I was excited to read this - I thought it might give me some motivation to start running again (and it had a cute cover) but Dana Wood is living a completely different life than me. She talks about baby nurses, Harry and David's organic fruit of the month club, cosmetic surgery, weighing 89 pounds, etc. Found very little I could apply to my own much more average life.
I stopped reading after she recommended we all hire nannies. Oh! How dumb am I? Now I see my life as a mother would be so simple if I would just hire a nanny!! Why didn't I think of that? I just couldn't find her relatable to my life as a mother and therefore all of her advice was not applicable to my day to day.
I totally enjoyed the style which author uses to put her thoughts. I loved the language of the book and have found many useful pieces of advice. It is definitely a must read for all new moms and moms to be.
I liked this book it was a nice new outlook on stylish moms who get in a bit of a funk, but bring it back together.sometimes you time is what we as moms all need to be better.
