USA Today Bestselling Author of The Last Tritan, Atom and Evil, The Feral Court, and many more to come!

Raised by her awesome parents in Canada's snowy north, Myra learned perseverance from an early age. She learned to speak in third person via extensive reading as a child, because... well... Northern Canada gets a LOT of snow. And when one isn't snowboarding, building quinzees, or waking up to teddy bears frozen to the floor (true story), one tends to read about places that are warm--even if being cold is preferable to being hot, every-damn-time.

All that reading gave Myra the gypsy bug. So, after college, (where she majored in professional gypsying) she moved to a ski resort in British Colombia to be a ski bum and chase the winter, because the cold was in her bones and it never bothered her anyway.

But then life caught up with her, as it does, and now she's stuffed full of enough life experience to write until transcendence (where she will be first in line to get a sweet android body and travel the universe until the end of time). So that's what she does when she's not listening to the voices or taking apart the electronics just to see their insides.

Cool right? Come be my friend on Goodreads, and have a free book for your troubles!! It's called Swallowed by Darkness, and it got me my USA Today Bestselling rank, baybee. Enjoy!!!

Fire and Fury!!

I can't tell how I feel about this. We pick right where Flame to Frost left us. I still hate Asher and want to punch his face in, but maybe slightly less. I am full of righteous indignation and rage on behalf of Mila, and still want her to burn everything to the ground.

At some point in this there is a little bit of turn of feelings between Asher and Mila, but I was struggling to see why. He still took every opportunity to dominate her and degrade her in front of everyone. Then the one time Asher seemed to be relenting and showing some fondness or kindness to Mila, as soon as she gave in the tiniest amount, while he egged her on with his power, he threw it in her face, mocking her and demeaning her.

So again I'm kinda struggling to see Asher and Mila's connection, except for the fact that the shit has hit the fan and they both are in the same boat. The power they share as a bonded couple is intoxicating and arousing as they push the limits of what this power can do. Mila has learned the hard way she is a pawn in a game she doesn't even know half the pieces. Blindsighted betrayal still comes searingly and with a high price. I'm confused by her emotions at the end, why she would even shed a tear. Wasn't what happened what she had been dreaming of?

I don't usually like books that always make me feel angry and helpless. Though this has definitely kept me entertained and caught up enough to read this in one setting. So there's that. Also I cannot wait until I can read the last installment to see what he heck happens now after that ending. Things just went nuclear.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book picks up where the last one leaves off. I know that every one and their best-friend's momma has already said this but here it is again just in case you managed to miss it the first 42 times it was stated . . . This book is similar but is by no means the same as The Tritan Evo series.

All right now that that is outta the way, I noticed the faint echoes of similarities and where the plot diverged into different paths as I read this book. As a lover of both book stories, I enjoyed seeing how just a few changes could really make a difference in a outcome.

There is still the non-con that grips me by the throat in this story just like it did in The Tritan Evo series. The Mila in this story didn't have the same vicious, tenacious desire for revenge that the Tritan Evo character had. She was almost mad with it. This Mila character has more of a drive for vengeance for her people than anything. Feels like a different type of burning passion that drives her to me.

The Asher in this series is everything I hate in an alpha male character with so far no redeeming qualities. I felt like there could be some redemption for the same character in the Tritan Evo series. Once again, 2 completely different characters.

I'm really eager to see where this story will go especially with how much it has diverged from Tritan Evo. Really anything is possible, but I do know that I've enjoyed exploring this new walk down a familiar path.

I originally read this story on Literotica years ago and it was one of my favorites there. Whats great about this release from Myra is now it has all the original story and characters I loved then, but it has all her experience and skill now as well. She was good then. She's great now! I read this book in one sitting, unable to put it down, and I'm eager for book 3 to come out so I can finally have the whole original Tritan story to read as much as I want. I don't want to give spoilers, as this is Book 2 of a trilogy, so I'll just say that Asher has long been in my list of antiheroes I swooned over, and I've always loved the spirit of Mila. The two of them together is steamy an chaotic in all the best ways, and this world they inhabit is intriguing. If you like Myra's other works, you'll love this one too. If you're an old fan of the original, you'll definitely love this. Don't let the negative reviews put you off. Give these books and Myra your time. You won't regret it. All hail to Mila
I love that woman
She is powerless yes powerless
but fierce
My heart goes out to her
So many betrayal and yet she never seems to learn !
A lost innocence with a Purple Heart
And that’s why we see her struggling without ever making a good decision
But like a flip of a coin she is stubborn and daring
Another vital thing we loose as we grow old
But she never is and will be compliant
Her heart yet too innocent to know the risk

But by far, one of the best heroine I have come so far and very clever of the author to weave the body+mind so intricately it was hardly ever a problem. Because the very next day she didn’t do 90•bend to suck him off right off the bat.

And coming back to Asher I don’t know 🤷‍♂️ meh
Dark yes yummy sometimes
But I didn’t like how he treated her in the first book
And now here
was he even a part of the story?
Like can we kill him
and send a new hero worthy of this lady pls.

WOW! What a story this was! I read this book in one day while on the plane! There was just so much happening. I just couldn’t stop reading, I was in awe from all the turns this story took but it was never too much. I loved it all!

This series is so sexy, edgy, nostalgic, magical and terrifying at the same time. You definitely need a seatbelt. It's definitely for adults only due to content. Each chapter had my heart pounding! I can't believe it. This books was better than the first and that one was mind-blowing good.

Nothing and I mean nothing was what I thought it would be. Every single time I thought I figured something out I was proven beyond wrong. For every answer I got, more questions popped up.

The author is a genius. A brilliant genius. High five Myra Danvers!

I am still really really not happy with Captain Assssh

🛑 This is book 2 so if you have not recovered I mean read the first you need to go back ...

I am still reeling from all the events that just occurred - all the small puzzle pieces that have been tossed into the pile and those that have been slotted into place.
I question Mila's ability to truly grasp what is occurring sometimes. I know she is young but at times her quick-to-rile temper impeeds her ability to see the whole picture.
Asher also seems to be going hot and cold. I feel like there is a secret there and I am missing something
Despite his small lapses of kindness I still have strong urges to dismember the captain but ...

This episode seems to craft multiple possibilities and directions.
I felt a bit discombobulated (I know but I can not think of another word to express how I felt) when I closed the pages
Things are changing
The question is is it for the better?

I wanted to give this book a go, hoping things change (for the better) and I actually get to like some characters and the romance, that should be there but isn't.
Well, spoilers: I did NOT like any characters ... or anything, for that matter.
No. I don't recommend it and won't read the next book.

Trigger Warnings: slavery, non-consent, psychological and physical abuse, rape

I have received this book for free to review but the kicker is I have never requested an ARC before. I was so addicted to the first installment of this series that I knew I wanted to continue to with the second installment of Frost to Dust. I was not disappointed. I've been in such a book slump but Danvers has pulled me out of that with The Tritan series. Iove the world building and the characters that leap off the page. Asher is such a villain in this but still very sexy. I think Asher a complete psychopath. I can't wait till continue and see what happens in the next installment. I suggest reading the whole series. I'm addicted. This is the best series I've read in awhile. I love authors who arent afraid to write unpc dystopia. This is not for for fluffies in a good way. Keep it gritty and thrilling like this Myra and the readers will keep coming back. 5 well deserved stars. Thank you! PS I'm moving this week and my daughter is getting married Saturday but the next week, I'm coming back here to detail even more of my thoughts on my obsession with Frost to Dust and the whole Tritan series. I want to do the talent of Ms Danvers justice with an even better review. Read this if you like anti heroes!

Middle books of trilogies are curious things. They have to keep the plot moving, but they have neither the thrill of discovery that a first book does nor the sense of conclusion of a final book. Frost to Dust has to work within this paradigm, and it does well within that. But it’s a middle book, so there’s a curious sense of being in limbo hanging over it. (And I would have appreciated a short “what’s happened so far” at the beginning of the book for readers who aren’t going immediately from book 1 to book 2.)

That said, there’s a deepening of the world Danvers has created in Frost to Dust. And boy, it’s a brutal world. We enter the society of the Caledonians, enemies to Mila, after she is captured and soul-bound to Asher. And it’s a brutally harsh society. The treatment of Mila and the Eloran priestesses is hard to read about. But we also learn much more about the priestesses’ powers and how they can be used. And seeing Asher’s frustration at his position in society and his attempts to both dominate and protect Mila are interesting.

This is a dark book, and while seeing Mila fight her fate and challenge Asher’s assumptions and goals is ultimately bracing, be prepared for a grim world for the heroine. If you can accept that, Frost to Dust is an interesting ride—even for a middle book.

Obviously a 5/5. Where has this series been all my life?!
Inhaled this book in 1 day. Mila is just bloody spectacular. She's like a stubborn, feral army brat. I can picture her now; all taut muscles, permanent scowl, breathing bloody murder at anyone and everyone that pisses her off. And yet, I really appreciated her innocence too. She is a person of intense emotions who doesn't know how to control each extreme. A very well-written character.

This book picks up where the first left off. Mila must now navigate her way through an unknown society. The story interestingly didn't have very much Mila-Asher development but was more about Mila and her journey as a woman of untamed power. I wasn't sure how/when the vibe between the h/H changed, or why, except that Asher now realises his life is in danger too. But at least it's realistic.. he is a slaver and a captain in the conquering empire after all, no reason for him to become a good guy overnight!

After finishing this book I went straight to buy book 3 only to find out that it's not been released! Disaster.

As much as I loved this book, I wish I had known the wait for the next one was going to be so far away before I read it. Honestly, I wouldn’t even have started the series. But, alas, since we’re hear might as well review it.
Okay, first off, Captain Rawlings is a jerk and Mila is so incredibly selfish. I one hundred percent blame her for what happened at the end. This girl is incapable of listening to anyone but herself. There were times I wished someone would smack some sense into her. As for Captain Rawlings, well, his treatment of Mila at times was disgusting. There is a certain scene that some might find triggering. However, he really grew on me by the end of the book and here’s hoping he’s not such a jerk in the next one. Other than that, I love the mystery-sexy vibe he’s got going on and I do think he really cares about Mila. Putting their issues aside, I really appreciate how unique this story is. Sometimes is gets boring reading about the same old thing, so it’s refreshing to read something like this once in a while.
If you don’t mind waiting for the next book, then I definitely think it’s worth the read. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars because I’m really ticked about the wait for the next book but the book itself deserves the 4 stars.

Every once in a while an author comes along that shakes me to my core. One of those authors is Ms. Danvers. She herself will tell you that she's a lover of all things chaotic, and it shows in her work. Her way with words is a thing of beauty and her storytelling is some of the best. Her characters are slightly unhinged (in the best way) and their adventures are never boring. This story isn't one you should start right before bedtime, or any other time when you can be disturbed, because putting it down will be impossible. I'm so in love with these characters and I can't wait for the next book.

Myra Danver’s Frost to Dust left me with goosebumps, it was so good. Book 2 in this amazing cult-like series, seeing Mila’s power harnessed in order to link with Asher was a mix of tragic, infuriating, and positive joy in how well it’s written. There are so many great lines – okay, most of them are curses of a sort, but they were delightful. Seriously so. Mila’s anger is palpable, as is her despair. The decadence, the debauchery, the diabolical behavior…I inhaled it.

Passionate and Intense
The latest instalment in Mila and Asher’s story is fast-paced, passionate and intense, crackling with raw emotions. As the book before it, Flame to Frost, I found it to be another brilliant dark fantasy read.
The battle of wits between Asher and his captive priestess Mila is just exquisite to read. The scenes where they are together are smoking hot and the book is also cleverly plotted and populated with well-drawn characters. Mila continues to defy her captor at every turn, a task that is so much more difficult since they are now linked. She is not only subject to Asher’s control, but also the rules of others of his ilk, the hated invaders who destroyed her homeland.
I hugely enjoyed the descriptions of the couple’s bond and the magic that swirls in and around them and others. Mila’s magic is untamed and wild and she has so many internal battles as she attempts to gain control over her powers and her developing relationship with Asher, a member of the enemy Elite. She despises him for what he represents and what he makes her do and feel - Asher is an Alpha through and through and he will be obeyed. There is a lot going on behind the scenes, with hidden agendas and plots aplenty.
When it all unravels and comes to the crunch what will Mila and Asher do, as their bond means that their survival is linked? I was literally swept away by their story and blown away by the ending which I did not see coming. I cannot wait to read the next instalment to see what happens next!
Readers of dark fantasy who like a smoking and highly charged captor/captive or enemies to lovers trope will love this story.

Frost to dust is a continuation of flame to frost it can be considered a dark fantasy or a dark romance and if you have too many triggers I suggest you stay away,
But if you love the dark fantasy genre this is a story this is the book for you. Mila‘s tale kept me enraptured from page to page.

*Spoilers*
You see Mila struggle who came out of the forest and being pit against a power she has never directly met before. Since she was never formally trained to be a priestess she tries to fight as if she’s still in the forest but she has to learn how to fight like a priestess. And at the end of this book the high priestess shows her what a true train priestess can do and what she can be capable of if she learned. I was riveted to the very last page my loudest complaint would be of how short this book is.. is enjoyable dark read and I suggest others to enjoy it as well.

Myra never fails to bring badass female characters to life. If you like feisty heroines, you'll love this book!

We follow along Mila's life within the Caledonian empire. We feel her strugglers, sympathize with her, and root for her. This instalment also begins exploring both sides to Asher - the good and the evil. We get to see how complex his character really is, and I must admit that I really liked how his possessive and jealous side came out.

Beyond the characters, there's an action-filled plot that moves quickly, but leaves out no details. We get to see deeper into the empire and learn more about their secrets. Without giving too much away, fights break out, chaos ensues, and we get to see who is a friend and who is a foe.

For fans of the original version of this series, you'll love this version even more. The original plot is still there, but things are way steamier! The bathhouse scene will live rent-free in my head for years to come.

Try to not read this in one sitting, if you dare. With just as much delicious tension and angst as its predecessor, Frost to Dust picks up the heat where Flame to Frost left off. The spicy battle of wills between Mila and Asher is quite consuming and irresistible. Their bond develops amongst Mila flirting with the true nature of her gift, and soon events are set into motion to shake their very foundations and tease the scene for the next installment. Delightfully written with both heat and humor, Flame to Frost is another fabulous creation gifted to us by Myra, be sure to read and enjoy it!

As always, Myra's worldbuilding around the story is excellent. Even in this world, politics are at play, making for a read that holds your attention until the end of the book. An emotional connection to the feisty heroine is established and you can identify with her predicament and her emotions. I am starting to warm up to Captain Asher Rawlings and can't wait to read the next part of their story.

I first read this series on Literotica - ages ago! It’s since been taken down and Myra Danvers has edited it and finally finally released it again.

It’s even better than I remember.

Although I really liked the newer version of this story she developed - which is now a separate series. The original has it’s charm.

Wow wow wow
Asher finally owning his own priestess mind and body only to find out that Mila is untried and untrained in her powers. Battle of the wills most definitely shows in this book! Who will be in winner? Although finding out both are intricately linked to each other also makes it much harder to kill the other after Mila fails terribly the first time! Must read book

The heroine I liked and wanted to see more of disappeared in this book, but the disappearance felt like I was just missing something. Like I was mistaken, so I just kept trusting the author to eventually show me my mistake and that the heroine hadn't become some basic NA/YA stupid-head.

That seems harsh? Okay, she starts trauma-bonding with her abuser, yes. That is understandable and psychologically plausible. She all of a sudden starts to have this desire for energy. Apparently, the "empath" within her hasn't been hungry for energy the entire 5 years she was in the woods, but now that she's bound to an elite (which all priestesses are women and all elites are men and they're from different nations, really?) she craves energy like nobody's business, but doesn't exercise the self-control she learned over her time in the woods to explore her new powers and observe how others use it, healers and destroyers, she just starts taking from people willy-nilly. Drunk lady who has more "mundane" energy? Sure! Let's see what happens when I drink her down all the way when I've never done that before, and I need all my wits about me. Yeah, that doesn't seem as plausible.

Her abuser rapes her and tells her he knows she secretly wants to know what it would be like. She felt physical pleasure, and she started doubting herself. Okay, gaslighting and abuse go together. Im trusting the author is going to bring it back. But wait, he can sense her emotions and she can take his emotions on and she says he "infects" her, but then she takes zero time to explore what that means and how it might effect her before she starts sucking him down on purpose.

Her tendency to alienate everyone was semi true to character, but again, I had a hard time believing it.

And when the High Priestess is sacrificing herself to save this poor ignorant girl, she tries to save the High Priestess' life, even though she knows what it is like to have her choices taken away and this woman has been suffering for years. And her abuser, is all solicitous of her and "hey, got to let her go, you're killing yourself" and just gaslighting with the concern and she seems to swallow it, hook, line and sinker because their lives are now bound together. She just starts following his lead because now she's doubting herself, rather than quietly observing and waiting the way she should have done from the beginning, because THAT would have been true to character.

Also, she is a vegetarian and literally can't eat meat because she throws it back up, she can't kill and eat a rabbit in the woods when she is close to starving to death, and yet suddenly she is able to attempt to kill two people in what seemed to be half an hour or less. The first could maybe be self-defense if she hadn't been written as so blood-thirsty about it. The second seems less believable. She tries to kill Asher and almost kills herself, and they have this weird interaction where neither of them has any energy afterward (the whole energy exchange thing is not explained well EVER.). This weird energy exchange moment is apparently when she buys into the gaslighting after only a week? I'm not actually sure. The timeliness is very fuzzy.

IDK. I wanted to like her and I was looking forward to her figuratively rising from the ashes when she finally freed herself, one way or another, but the weird lack of explanations of what was happening with her powers, fast chronological pacing of the book, and her changing character so quickly, just killed it for me. I want to think I was wrong about this book and series, I feel a little like the author's gaslighting me, lol. Anyway, I hope this makes sense.

As one of the original readers of the very first edition published through Literotica, I have to say...wow! Despite some of the negative reviews, I don't think you can fully appreciate the growth of this author or the way this author has truly grown since the original version without having read her original works...this may be a closer alignment to the original plot, but with all of Myra's experience as an author behind it, it now becomes something so much more than it ever was!! As much as I enjoy the new rendering of Mila and her journey towards Asher, this version draws me in so much deeper and really pulls at the heart in such a way that you can't help but love and root for Mila, even when we are screaming at her to do better...I can't say enough about this edition and how raw it truly feels. You absolutely grasp the agony, pain and ultimate humiliation of this wild girl, who is barely a woman juxtaposed against her strong, steady and domineering Captain Asher. Oh man was it easy to hate him...and gut-wrenchingly just as easy to fall in love with the bastard. So much of this book was an emotional war within MYSELF as I tried so hard to hate Asher for the sake of Mila, only to come to love them both even more by the end of it all.
If enemies to lovers is your jam, this is the book series for you!! This is an epically raw tale of the downfall of the Tritan people and their utter enslavement to their warrior brethren. I can't wait for the next installment where we wait on baited breath to learn just how closely related the Caladonian Elites are to the Tritan Priestesses they seek to enslave and what that will mean for this new world they will find themselves in...I am squealing in girly excitement right now!!

Fantastic and Amazing

This is my second time around with the Triton series and I am enjoying the differences. This is the original story that I never read and I must say it is just as exciting as the later version.

Captain Asher Rawlings is an antihero type that makes me swoon with his dominant ways and handling of Mila. And Mila is no pushover either. She is a strong and fierce woman who gives Asher a run for his money.

The battles between these two are epic due to being bound to each other through their own set of unique powers. Mila wants to be rid of Asher by any means necessary and this has caused her to make some rash decisions. There are also bigger forces at work here that will directly impact them both with dire consequences.

The differences between each series has made them a pleasure for me to read. I loved the second version of this series when it was released a couple of years ago, so I was thrilled to hear she was releasing the original. Ms. Danvers has written two exceptional series. Each one is a sci-fi fantasy lovers dream. I am looking forward to the next book with great anticipation. I highly recommend reading either versions of The Last Tritan. Asher and Mila’s story will take you on a fantastic journey in a unique world full of danger, magic, and a few surprises along the way.

Frost to Dust by Myra Danvers is Book 2 in The Last Tritan series.

Leading on from book one, Mila has been captured and is enslaved by Asher Rawlings with technology that binds her to him. Asher plans to use her priestess powers to advance his career, but our dark antihero wants more- her submission body & soul.

Oh how I felt Mila’s rage and despair at her loss of freedom, bodily control, & loss of innocence at the hands of Asher. The reader will loathe the dastardly actions of our antihero, then soften to him in his tender moments of vulnerability with Mila. He is a curious character & we don’t fully know his story and agenda. Will Asher stay true to the devilish elite warrior ways or be redeemed?
Mila has been sheltered by her Father, and now is paying the price in this ruthless society, that is hell bent on submission of the priestesses, draining them of their power in a war they want no part of. Will Mila be used as the ultimate weapon?

As always the world building is exquisite- the reader is transported. Great pace, flow and tension hooked me - I read this in one sitting.

So many questions after reading this second book, and really looking forward to Dust to Smoke (book 3) 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is book two in this series (must be read in order) and though it is almost double the length of book one I almost feel like more happened in book one, in terms of world-building, character establishment and just plain events. Now, I did absolutely love the chemistry between the captain and Mila and their steamy scenes. Like, a ton. Captain Asher's charisma is extremely evident every time he is on the page and I am totally here for it! There is a quite a bit of talk and description of the energies/powers of Mila and the elites and the priestesses (understandable, since it is what the whole plot is based around) and I have to say two books in I still don't understand any of it or how it works or what is actually happening when that stuff is going on. I mean, I get the gist of it but definitely not the specifics. And as such, I don't really care about it and just want to get past the descriptions of it to more action and dialogue (and ok, yes, steam lol). The book ends on a kind-of, sort-of cliffhanger, and though I most definitely want to see what happens next and how things will progress with Asher and Mila, I'm not dying for it like you can be with some cliffhangers either.

I was excited to continue the Last Tritan series and Frost to Dust did not disappoint. As the second installment, there was more time spent getting to know the characters, and developing their relationships. I think it was for this reason, that there wasn't an abundance of plot development, but I was thoroughly hooked regardless.
I was completely drawn into the story, so much so that my emotions were all over the place. I believe you can tell the quality of an author when you're drawn into the pages enough to scream at your e-reader...so much rage and helplessness! I was really rooting for Mila.
I was torn for some of the story...it does contain dub-con, which I enjoy as a reader, but I can see that it would be distressing to some, as it still caused me some level of angst. So, if you're not into scenes of a dark sexual nature, you probably wouldn't enjoy this. If you are, have it...this is the book for you!
As always, the writing was comfortable and enjoyable to read, with good descriptive detail and clean grammar, that let you sink into the book effortlessly.
Recommended to anyone who likes emotional rollercoasters, dub-con and shouting at imaginary people.

*Possible Spoilers*I don't know how I feel about Mila. She did such a good job of surviving on her own for years, but we just keep seeing her make decisions that could potentially get her killed. I get that she just wants out and is devastated and beyond angry by what has been done to her, but it feels like she just continually cuts off her nose to spite her face. I liked Asher, dubious consent aside. He seemed like he wanted more of a partnership with Mila, even though she fights him at every turn and he has a deliciously dark punishment for every one. I didn't like the whole Carina addition to the story. It made it feel like he was cheating on Mila, which I know is silly because she is a slave and Asher doesn't need anyone's permission to sleep with whoever he wants, but still. But we get to see glimpses of the bigger picture of the series and the last couple of chapters we see Mila come to her senses and the big reveal left me so sad/mad that the book was over and the next one isn't out yet! Thanks Booksprout and Myra Danvers for letting me read this early.

Frost to Dust is the second instalment of the Last Tritan series, featuring the original (edited) version of the story that was published on Literotica. Myra Danvers has worked so hard to hone and improve her first epic piece of writing and boy does it show! The text has all of the excitement of the original story with the added finesse of an experienced author and some additional scenes. It satisfies the nostalgia of her original readers, as well as being well worth the read for new ones!
There’s a whole lot of steam with interesting storylines and well developed characters. The emotional responses of Mila bind her to the reader, even when you’re screaming at her to rethink what she’s doing, to escape her pain, humiliation and the limits of her mind, yet despite the cruelty of Asher, you can feel his magnetism and can’t help to be drawn in.
A fantastic sequel to the first in the series; I can’t wait for the final instalment! Be warned future readers, Danvers is addictive!!

Not your momma’s romance.

The hate and anger spewed at the end of the first book continued for about 60% of this story. Mila and Asher butted heads for the entirety of the story. Not once was the word “love” uttered or thought by either main character. Asher wanted control of Mila while she was plotting revenge. Towards the end of this second installment of the story Mila’s perspective began to change and then the story stopped in a cliffhanger.

The world this story is set in is still not clear in my mind. The author is revealing it slowly as the story unfolds. It is a dark world where conquered people are treated as less than human. Mila is surrounded by people that would hurt her just for the sake of entertainment. Yet, Asher might be the exception. The author hints that there might be more to him than he’s allowed Mila to see so far.
