I never could have imagined that she was the ballerina on stage. The one I swore I would have. Emilia Fierro was just someone I used to know, but now… she’s so much more. Like light and dark, she seems to contrast me in every way. I, Nero Nicastro, am meant to inherit my father’s crown as Don Nicastro. And she’s a Manhattan darling, born and raised in the Upper East Side. There isn’t space in my future for this girl from my past, yet her pale blue eyes are haunting me. It only makes matters worse that our fathers despise each other.
I was excited to get this arc. Unfortunately, the only time we got to see the beautiful cover is when we looked at it at amazon. We received a text only PDF instead of a proper arc and instead of the beautiful cover we just got a typed title. I had to buy a copy. It was very disappointing and I probably won’t do it again if that is how the author treats her readers. Covers are very important for me. I often buy based on the cover. So, I started off reading this arc already feeling let down by the author. I wish authors let us know ahead because I wouldn’t have bothered and I shouldn’t have to feel obligated to buy because I dislike PDF copies that have no cover and the inner workings and don’t work properly like a table of contents. We are not given notice or have the opportunity to choose not to take a book for this reason.
The story is about Emilia and Nero. They have a lot to deal with including the history between both families. I thought Nero’s mom was sweet taking Emilia under her wing after her mother died. Emily’s mom and Nero’s mom were BFF’s. My problem with this one was it didn’t follow the route I expected. This is classed as a dark romance yet Nero was not dark, nor was he a dark personality then met Emilia and she brought him light - he was actually soft and loveable if you are judging him against what would be expected from a mafia book. I voluntarily offered to read an arc- I didn’t get one but received a text only copy without a cover. I am still leaving a review, but discounting 1 star for the poor reading experience due to the PDF copy and buying a copy in order to get a proper book feel.
This is probably my favorite Anna Ray book. It was so good. A Romeo and Juliette meets mafia "retelling" and it was done surprisingly well. I liked both main characters. The heroine was sweet and strong and fought for the things she wanted. The Hero was sweet with the h and amazing with his mom, I just wish he was more badass and didn't bend so easily to other people's will. The villain of the story was okay, very fitting for the plot. The end was great for them and the epilogue was super sweet. Overall a great book.
Anna Ray has quickly become one of my favorites! She continues to draw you into her Mafia world and you have no choice but to connect to her characters. This is the story of Nero and Emilia. Nero is the son of the Don of the Nicastro family. He is a bad boy, who hasn’t been happy with his life for quite some time now. Emilia is a ballerina who has had a crush on Nero since they were children. She is innocent, sweet, yet she turns feisty.
The connection between Nero and Emilia’s families, goes back to their parents being friends. However, things go south between the fathers and they are now enemies. Things heat up when a new player tries to kill Nero’s father and Nero is forced to take over the “kingdom”. This book has it all – drama, action, tragedy, addiction, violence, and great characters. I look forward to reading more from Anna Ray! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3.75 stars
Addicted is a mafia book. It follows the characters Nero and Emilia. Nero and Emilia have know each other since they were children, but after a falling out between their fathers, they haven’t seen each other in 6 years.
Nero is the son of the Don. Emilia is a ballerina. I felt like their relationship was very fast pace, which was refreshing, but I wished we had more tension or even some rejection of their feelings. (Because of their fathers)
It was a good read though, I read it very quickly and I enjoyed every second of it. Their romance was so cute. This is a mafia book, but it isn’t as dark or heavily political (in the sense of Mafias). It was more focused on rekindling their love, which was very refreshing. There was still some high stakes involved.
I loved how Emilia kept her goals, and worked towards them no matter what. I liked the struggle with Nero concerning his parents. But once again, with all of the responsibilities that fell on them and their father’s bad past, you would think there would be more fighting their feelings, even if it was just to please their fathers. (Which they were constantly pleasing their fathers throughout the book, it would be more added tension I would’ve liked seeing)
It was a very good read, I enjoy Anna Ray’s books so I’m not shocked I liked it.
This is a Romeo and Juliette story involving the warring, Sicilian New York mafia families and the violent power struggles.
Mafia Princess, Emelia Fierro's heart was in ballet, her father had allowed the to do this as long as she did a business degree ready for taking over her fathers domain......Emelia was set on following her dream to be a ballerina but her fathers word was law.
Nero Niccastro was heir to the Nicastro mafia fortunes and was being groomed to take over from his father Roberto. Roberto was a cruel man and when he gave orders everyone including Nero jumped or faced a bullet.
There was a long running and savage feud between the Nicastro's family and the Fierro's, they had hated each other for years but after seeing Emelia dance Juliette at the ballet Nero was smitten.
Whilst Emelia and Nero's rekindled friendship was turning into love, Emelia's father was planning to marry her off to wealthy Dante Castellini whose family had invested in his business.
This story follows the tempestuous journey of Emelia and Nero as they fight for their love, this story is action packed, there is violence, suspense, murder and sizzling romance, an enjoyable read.

This was an interesting read. Until now I haven’t read one mafia romance where the H start the story not wanting to become the boss of the family and ending the story without becoming it which was really intrigued. I was convinced that he would change his mind throughout the book so I was kinda shocked to see things unfold.
Nero is the soon to be Don but he’s really not looking forward to it while Emilia does everything that her father wants just so she could follow her passion, ballet.
Emilia always had a thing for Nero since they were kids and the feelings never went away with time. Now Nero’s mom always followed Emilias dancing which I really liked to see. Since Emilia doesn’t have her mom anymore, I really liked their interactions. I was happy to finally see Emilia taking control of her future and be done with her fathers demands.
Also can he appreciate the fact that the H didn’t push the h away after she was in danger?
Overall it was a lighter read than what I was expecting and I really appreciated it. It was a nice change in things and I really liked the characters so if you’re looking to dip your toes in mafia romance I feel like this is a good place to start.
Nero and Emilia knew each other as children. She had a crush on him when they were younger, but he always teased her and didn't really notice her as anything more than a slightly irritating daughter of his mother's friend. Now, years later, he sees her on stage performing Romeo and Juliette and knows that he needs to get to know her. The book starts with a ballet performance of Romeo and Juliette and while this isn't a straight modern interpretation of the story, it's clear that it's a big influence. Nero and Emilia's father were once friends but after a business fall out they now hate one another. The chemistry between Nero and Emilia is so strong that it doesn't matter to them how their parents feel. I do enjoy books where the characters have darker sides to them. Nero is certainly not all hero with his Mafia connections and the things that he is forced to do for his father. He isn't all bad either though and the romance with Emilia certainly brings more of this side to light. I enjoyed this dark mafia romance and liked reading about Nero and Emilia's world.
Addicted was an easy story to fall into although reasonably quickly i was surprised by nero's character. I am used to reading rough and dark mafia books with the main male character being alpha and in your face macho but I didn't get this from Nero's chatacter. If anything it was the opposite.
Emeila's character was enjoyable to read. The more the book went on, the more confident Emeila became which was awesome to see!!
The story has a lot of things happening as well as a blooming relationship with the two mc's
The chemistry between the two mc's, for me, didn't quite hot the mark former until over half way through and then it pricked up the pace.
All the other action happening was pure mafia goings on but Nero just didn't seen Interested at all which was a first for me
The story was engaging and good story lines and character development. The epilogue was a nice way to end the story.

This is described as a dark Mafia romance, but I didn't feel like it truly was. Nero was very soft as a male lead and I could find any Alpha aspects to him. Granted he was sweet with his mother and Emelia, but I didn't feel the ruthless side I associate with Mafia men, especially those in line to become the Boss. Emelia too was quite soft, her life was being controlled by her father when all she wanted to do was dance, but again I didn't feel like she really stood up for herself and what she wanted.
I think the plot of this book was good, but it played out on a surface level, like everything happened without truely engaging the reader to connect deeply with the characters. I also felt the "bad guy" in the end was thrown in. He was alluded to very briefly but not enough to make him warrent being the big baddie that orchestrats and creates the major conflict at the end.
I received a ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Though this wasn’t my first read by the author, I am a little disappointed with how the story unfolded. I normally love reading a good mafia romance, but only when all parties involved are rough, take no shit participants, yet the MC seemed to lack this aspect. In my opinion, Nero was entirely too soft and was a complete pushover. Granted he was amazingly sweet with Emilia and his mother, but he was too easily swayed and bent to others needs. While Emilia was such a sweet, strong heroine and fought for what she wanted.
As much as I have previously enjoyed the authors books, this one just didn’t do anything for me. Maybe if Nero would have stood up for himself more rather than curtailing to others, my thoughts and feelings would have been better. Either way, still love her books and plots!
This one was difficult to judge for me. It wasn’t that the book was bad, but for some reason it couldn’t hold my attention and failed to excite me. I didn’t connect with the characters at all. As some reviewers already stated, Nero was too nice for the son of a mafia don and next in line. Also, I like cocky heroes. In his case it didn’t work for me. I found both characters hard to connect with. Usually I slip into the character’s body and mind and experience everything through their eyes. In this book, I felt like a person on the sideline, watching the scene unfold from a distance. It might just be me, but I was dissatisfied with this read.
Conclusion:
This book just didn’t work for me and I didn’t connect with the characters.

4.5 ⭐️ This is a great story with their history, connection to the reader and to the main characters but this is more of a mafia romance with low lever sexy times that doesn’t really have a problem, the story itself makes the story great.
Their fathers used to be business associates & friends, their mothers were best of fiends, Nero was picking on her more days then he was sweet & caring. His father tried to be sneaky and her father refused so the two families were forced apart with hatred for years. Now the story of a Ballerina named Emilia Fierro and the Heir of the Nicastro Don, Nero. Emilia had a severe crush on Nero in her teens and now will her chance with Nero be a one off deal or will Nero be all in with her no matter the empire he’s in charge of and the darkness of that life??
Another great book by Anna Ray! The book tells the story of Emilia and Nero, once friends but forced to separate once their fathers became enemies. Years later, the two meet up again at Emilia’s ballet show and the two can not stop thinking about one another. Although they both know their relationship is forbidden, each are willing to risk it. A relationship is forming but outside forces like parents and other people try to hinder them. I really liked this book! One of my favorites is mafia romance and this did not disappoint. Although I would have wanted more steamy scenes but that’s just a personal choice!! Looking forward to the next one!!
*special thanks to Anna Ray and her team for send me an ARC of this book *
I liked this one a lot! While ballet dancers are not my favorite heroines, Emilia here was a charming character. It took her something to come out of her shell but when she did and took matters in her own hands and choose for herself she shone brightly! The Italian Mafia heir wasn't less intriguing, with his bad boy smirks and loving heart. Theirs was a great story, peppered with a lot of romance, wonderful supportive characters (especially his mom) and a bit of darkness that comes with the mafia trope. All in all, another winner from Anna Ray! I received a copy of this in exchange for my honest review.

It was okay. I don't think it was dark. Nero and Emilia had known each other for years. Their mothers were best friends. They lost touch with each other after Emilia's mother died. They are reunited after a ballet in which Emilia danced the heroine of Juliet. At first Emilia tried to resist her attraction to Nero because her father would not approve and had said Nero was s bad guy. The attraction was too strong and they ended up keeping their relationship a secret.
The book was well written. It was a fast and easy read.

Addicted. That's just what I was while reading this book. This was my first read by this author and I must say I wish it was longer. While it had lots of detail and a storyline that kept me wanting more, that is exactly where I was left. I want more. I found that even though this was a Mafia Romance, the MC was not portrayed as strong, he was more of a pushover within the story. The story of Emilia and Nero was very enjoyable. I wish there would be more about their future together though. Overall great story and very addicting just like the title says. Nero is in line to take over his fathers criminal empire but one glimpse into familiar blue eyes leaves him wanting more. Emilia made a future for herself she became a ballerina and stole the hears f her audience and of one man in particular a man she once knew. is their a future between them? this s well written and engaging storyline that holds your attentions filled with action, drama, suspense desires and more!

An incredibly addictive and heartbreaking story at moments, yes I cried. This storyline get you at the first page and make you live the all the emotions; danger, suspense, passion & misunderstandings between Nero and Emilia, two worlds collides. Amazing chemistry between Nero & Emilia will make your heart melt. You won’t believe how their life is ruled by regulations from their respective Dads. The drama keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last page. Must read. I have received an Arc and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
DNF @ 24% The book starts with the hero at a strip club, ready to sleep with a stripper (his father's call interrupted them), which was unnecessary; he could have been with friends for us to see that he'd leave everything when his father calls him. He embarrassed and offended the heroine when they met, but all she could think about was how hot he was. And then, (another scene and day) a suitor (that her father approves of) for the heroine appears and I lost the little interest I had in the story.
I prefer my mafia guys to be tough and very alpha. Nero doesn't fit that bill. But I still fell for him, because he is loyal to Emilia and his family. This is my first read from this author. I'd like to read more. I'd especially like to see a book with Nero's man, Johnny. He is mafia. He is tough. He is smart. He is alpha. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems.
If you are looking for a dark mafia romance, I did not find that with this story. I did find though a sweet romance between two people, who due to life circumstances, should not have been together. Nero was involved in the mafia and Emilia’s father wanted her to take a different path than her dreams. Nero and Emilia’s romance was not easy and it was filled with plenty of drama as they both fought for what they believed in. I was a fan of Emilia and overall I enjoyed this one.
loved it !!! love Emilia and Nero... this is their story... it was love/hate when we were young...does he even remember me ? does it even matter ? it was insta-love for me...a slow burn for him... was it really ? chemistry OTT ... twists and turns...a must read !!!

I loved this. Emilia and Nero have so much going against them. Mafia doesn't often publicly mix with type of lady Emilia appears to be but neither can fight fate for too long. This would have been perfect if there'd been a stronger 'dark' pull between them

All Emilia wanted to do was dance, all her father wanted her to do was study business. Nero couldn't believe the girl standing in front of him was Emilia all grown up and now he could not forget her. I just knew this was going to ignite quickly and it did, I loved the chemistry between Emilia and Nero as sparks flew. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I received an ARC of Addicted and I am voluntarily leaving a review. I enjoyed reading about a bad guy going good and a good girl standing up for herself and finally taking control of her life. I think it could have used a little more drama since it's labeled as a dark Mafia romance however I enjoyed the book at it was.
This was definitely more of a slow burn/sweet read than I'm used to with mafia romance but, I still loved it! Although this was a quick read we got in depth characters and an intriguing plot. I LOVED Nero, he was a great character in my opinion. I'm never disappointed with these books!
She wants to be a ballerina, he is torn into two worlds. Both are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Will he be willing to give it all up? Will she get her dream?
Have to say, I loved seeing these two give love a chance. I loved seeing her come into her own and standing up for herself. I loved seeing both sides that he was going through and could understand his struggle. Definitely have to say that these two definitely came out on top!

Oh boy did I love this book. This isn’t your typical Mafia romance. Nero is a very reluctant heir and Emilia dreams of becoming a ballerina much to the disgust of her controlling father. This story kept my attention throughout the whole book and the ending was epic. I received this book from BookSirens. I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Gimme! I love anything mafia, and Anna Ray’s Addicted did not disappoint. Emilia and Nero’s story was quite different in that yes, the story was set in the world of the mafia, but the hero—Nero—had a somewhat mellow and sweet side all throughout the story. Not what I am used to, but definitely a welcome read!
