Sixth in the Happily Never After Series of dark fairy tale retellings…

The only thing that’s kept me going all these years are tales of Peter Pan and his lost boys…

My name is Tink, better known as Tinkerbell.

I’ve been left isolated on ‘Death Isle’ with only a crocodile shifter named Zegar for company.

Life on the island is lonely and difficult, but the only thing that keeps me going are the many tales Zegar spins about Peter Pan and his misfit crew of Lost Boys.

Imagine my surprise when none other than Pan, himself, arrives on Death Isle, telling me he’s come to return me to Fantasia!

The surprises continue when Peter tells me I’m one of the Chosen Ten, which means I’m meant to help defeat my evil Uncle Septimus and the witch, Agatha.

Immediately, I’m enraptured by Peter’s handsome face, his charisma, and his confidence.

But, there’s also something about Quinn, Peter’s right-hand-man.

As the brother of legendary Captain Hook, Quinn is quiet and brooding and I can’t help but want to unravel the mystery that surrounds him.

Accompanied by Peter, Quinn and Zegar, I find herself in the fight for my life against Septimus and Agatha’s legion of monsters.

The Happily Never After 10 Champions destined to defeat an evil that threatens to wipe out the land of Fantasia...

Snow White, Goldilocks, Rose Red, Sleeping Beauty, Tinkerbell, Cinderella, Little Bo-Peep, Belle, The Little Mermaid, and Red Riding Hood

Slightly better than the last couple I've read although not by much. I'm disappointed that Tink only got 2 men to warm her bed when everyone else so far has 3, seems slightly unfair to the pixie but oh well, it is a war after all, can't spend all her time in bed.

Honestly though, Tinks story had a little more oomph, not wasted on a shy human girl that was more burden than heroine like the rest of this series so far. It hasn't renewed any sort of hope for the series but it wasn't so hard slogging my way through this one. Barely took 2 hours in total whereas Rose took me a couple days and a brief foray into a trilogy that I couldn't put down, before I actually made my way to the end.

Tinker (Happily Never After #6)

I'm enjoying this series ...but...
They could have drawn a decent map.🙄
And, the women on the cover, don't look like
They are described in the books.
I really enjoyed this version of Tinkerbell.

So, I had to give some thought to why I rated this the way that I did, and in the end, I think I’d give it 3.25 ⭐️ Why?

First, I had read somewhere that these books, while a series, could each be a standalone. That drew me in because I’d desperately wanted a Tinkerbell-based retelling and here it was! However, I have found that to not be entirely true and it definitely impacts the readability. Further research assured me that they are recommended to be read in order. There were some plots that I didn’t understand and were not sufficiently explained to grasp what exactly was taking place. Needless to say, I have questions.

Second, it was really short. Once the action started, it felt rushed and I’d have liked to see more. More world building. More interaction between the characters. More relationship building than the sudden “Oh, I love you” that took place between them. Especially when it’s alternate POVs that opens the door for so much potential. Plus, I wanted so. much. more of and from Tink in this. Kind of disappointing.

Maybe going back and starting with Book 1 would fill in some gaps and give me more to work with that would result in a change in the way I feel about this book overall. I just have to decide if I want to dedicate myself to the task.

Oh this series is a lot of fun, while this isn't my favorite princess of this story arch I sure did have fun. I felt like this one was a bit short. I wish it was longer but I know we have more princesses we need to learn about. Such a fun series that I always enjoy 😉

Tinker is the 6th book in The Happily Never After Series by H.P Mallory, but I hate to say, it is by far my least favorite for many many reasons. I had such high hopes for Tinker, as Peter Pan is one of my favorite fairytales.

I am not sure why exactly this book is so much different than the rest of the other five, but it is DRASTICALLY different. There are so many plot holes it is unreal, Tinker's character is very hard for me to like, there are a few characters that I feel are very useless & then her connection with Peter and Quinn honestly isn't anything but a hero fascination/fan girl, that she has for them & then purely sexual on Peter's end, there is almost zero chemistry between them.

She is extremely whiny, and seems naive - but yet... she is 60+ years old. It doesn't make sense. She has only been locked away on Death Isle for 15 years - she would NOT be as naive as she is portrayed. She also is the only Chosen, I would most definitely say is actually very selfish. Lastly, I am confused on what exactly Tinker's powers are, besides she is a Seelie Fae. But, even with her powers, she seems very..... not helpful. While all of the females were very new to their powers and fighting, I expected Tink to at least have somewhat of a grip on hers considering, again, she is 60+ years old, she is not new to her magic, she is just new to controlling the Morningstar part of it, and forgiving herself. -- but when it came time to it, all of the other Chosen kicked butt and held their own. They wiped the floor with whoever they were battling, and they worked as a team with their men or whoever else was with them, but they always held their own. Tinker on the other hand.... does not seem to handle her own. Hook, Quinn and Peter are the only reason the book ended the way it did, she honestly... did next to nothing to defeat her uncle and Agatha beside throw gum and birds at him.

The fact that Prince Payne is in this book is honestly a complete waste of space, there is ZERO reason he needed to be in this book at all. Every single time he is mentioned, it is ONLY to say how useless he is because he is below deck asleep due to him being a vampire & cannot be in the sun - which... is odd, considering that information is never mentioned in Briar- they seemed to travel at all hours in her book.

Every other Chosen has been with 3 men, so why was Zegar just thrown to the side like trash? It was almost the INSTANT she met Peter and Quinn, she tossed him, as if she could care less that he had taken care of her the past several years. Even if they did not end in a romantic relationship, the way Tinker treated him is horrible.

The "Bond" that Tinker completes with Peter and Quinn, to make them stronger and to share their power, makes zero sense... because Peter and Quinn have NO POWER to share in the first place. In all honesty, it makes her seem weaker, and makes Peter & semi Quinn look power hungry. Tinker had no need to share her power with them, there was no benefit to her in this bond or sharing her power.

Peter's character is down right almost intolerable. I get he is meant to come off as the cocky over the top fun guy, but instead he comes off as a selfish prick who just wants to have sex with Tinker and use her for her pixie dust & power, then also add the "I am alpha" energy as well. He is annoying and not only does he not deserve Tinker, but also doesnt deserve Quinn.

Another part that severely confused me was, the whole virus/hellhound situation. Considering that from the very first book, Morningstars General Ly made it known that he created-birthed the hellhound from himself, because a God cursed him after he fed his son to them. He was the first.
So, it is a little confusing now that hellhounds are being made from a virus created by a physician in Sweetland under the order of Agatha and Septimus.
**

Overall, Tinker was not horrible, and I know I focused alot of what I didnt like, but there were decent parts as well. I will still definitely continue the series as the overall plot of Tinker was still great, and I hope in the future books, maybe Tinker grows into a better character.

**Added after reading the books after this one**
Truthfully, I feel like maybe the author just rushed through this book, because it is so unlike all of the others. This is the ONLY book in the series that is like this. Every other book is absolutely wonderful.

Doesn't make sense

This book was different than the rest. It was confusing and I felt like it needed more explanation.

They never really explain what exactly her power is or does. I feel like the rest of the girls their powers were explained. It turns people inside out and fries them to death but then she is creating stuff with her imagination like gum and birds. I don't get it.

I don't feel like her a Peter had any chemistry at all. She was pretty much Just their groupie and he only wanted to sleep with her. Then suddenly they are bonding to each other for reasons that make no sense. I reread that section to make sure I wasnt missing something. The only girl who bonded/mated for stability of their power was Broad and that was because they were all dead.

Also Quinn took way to long to forgive hook. Once he finally let him explain what happened, there was nothing to forgive Hook for. He didn't sell him. From the sounds of it he was held under the ship to keep him from stopping it. Yet Quinn continues to hate him. Also they never explain why pan hates hook so much.

Lastly, Zegar. He was stuck on the island with her for years and the second they get off she completely drops him and barely talks to him for the remainder of the book. Why did he have chapters in the book? For most of the book you wait for him and tink to finally figure out they love each other because why else would he be one of the points of view. He wasn't part of their love triangle!

not the best

This book is good but kind of weird. All the other books in the series had 3 men, but this one introduces 3 and has all of their point of views but Tinker only ends up with Peter and Quinn and seemingly forgets about the last guy. Confused on that. I wish that she ended up with all of them. The Blue fairy could have shrunken him but maybe that’s coming in the next books. We’ll see.

Tink has been on Death Isle for such a long time, the only companion the crocodile shifter that bit of Hook's hand , Zegar. He tells her tales of Pan and the Lost Boys . She thought of them as stories until the day that Pan shows up on the isle and says he is here to rescue her and take her Fantasia to be part of the 10 that are chosen to save their world and defeat Septimus and Agatha. When she is around Pan and Quinn she has feeling that they are destined to be more . So off they go to help save their world. Will they all come out with their hearts intact.
In the sixth book of the series we meet Tinker and the men in her life . Tinker is a little naive at the start of the book , she is trying to get off the isle but she knows she can't right yet . At the beginning she is full of self doubt and scared of what could happen to her . As you watch her in the story she really starts to come into herself and really blossom . Zegar is the legendary crocodile that ate Hook's hand and he reminds me of the grumpy best friend that has feelings for his best friend and doesn't know how to act on them. Pan is fun loving and sweet when you get right down to it but he does have his man moments that will make you laugh . Then there is Quinn who I think is my favourite . He is sweet and caring and kind of shy . He only wants to keep everyone safe and he wants to love Tinker with all his heart . They are such fun characters and very well written.
This was the book in the series I have been waiting for , I love Tinkerbelle and I really wanted to see where the author would take her . I must say she didn 't hold back , the characters were well written and complex. You really got involved with them and you will cheer for them and cry with them . This is a fun fast read that you can read in an evening . I was kind of sad that we only got to meet two of the three men that are her mates but I am thinking that the third one was shown to us and has been in the entire book and just doesn't know it yet . I can't wait for book seven in the series . So if you want a fun summer read check out the HAPPILY NEVER AFTER SERIES you will not be disappointed .

First let me say, I love this series but Tinker just didn't hit like the previous installments.

I mean, who doesn't love Tinkerbell and Peter? The story seemed to be drawn out a little too much for me. The previous stories were fast paced and the characters seemed easier to connect with.

I will say Quinn was the scene stealer in this book. I loved his shyness... he came off as having ptsd which usually isn't something a reader would connect with but he's written in an almost stolen innocence prospective, making him seem the most relatable.

This is an okay story, I didn't love it but you def need to read it to keep up with the series. I'm sure this will be a lot of readers favorite though.

WHAT! WHAT IS THIS INJUSTICE TOWARDS ZEGAR WHY WHY WHY ISN’T HE IN THE HAREM ARGHHHHH!!!!!!! WHAT IS THIS DISCRIMINATION AGAINST CROCODILES!!!!

Despite the repeated mentions of “brotherly affections” I refuse to see that they’re platonic!!! Zegar obviously has feelings for her!!! And vice versa!!! LESS STARS THAN THE PREVIOUS BOOKS BECAUSE ZEGAR IS BEING DISCRIMINATED ON

Zegar and Tink had more chemistry than Peter and Tink. Quinn was sweet and there was a promise of something good in the beginning but then it just fell flat. And why the heck does everyone hate Hook??? Quinn’s hatred I understand, but Zegar and Peter seemed so aggressively bitter towards him? And for what?

Much like the rest of the series, the premise is interesting and the dark spin on fairy tales attention grabbing. Overall the read is “okay”. Meaning, it’s definitely a fast burn and a quick read so the characters get together quickly, the writing has a couple of weird spots that don’t quite flow, and and this point the individual adventure seems to distract from the larger plot. Still entertaining, and Quinn’s character definitely steals the show, but it’s not something I’ll go back to anytime soon.

The wait was worth it!

Again...I think this is my favorite RH series.
It was a long wait...well, longer then usual for this book to come out.
One more Chosen has been tossed in the fray and her men are there to protect and support.
Two more baddies have been dealt with though one, only for a little bit.
It was great to get back into the series! Can't wait for Ember's story...and hopefully, Mr. Croc finds love too!

I really enjoyed the story of Tinker. I am surprised she only has two men. But overall, that did not take away from the story at all. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I can't wait for more book from H.P.

I didn't want to go into to much details as not to spoil anything in the book for a future reader, you will enjoy grabbing the book. I recommend this book/ series.

Wonderfully written!

While I would have liked Tinker to get her three men instead of two I thought it was an awesome read. I truly do love this series. It kept up the same momentum like the others have. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Very good book. I enjoyed Tinker. She is very spirited! I feel like this was just a quick filler book, but it was well written. It moved the series along nicely & I’m looking forward to more.
