I really love Anna Bradley, but More or Less a Temptress felt a bit lackluster, especially coming after the previous two great Somerset Sisters books.

Anna Bradley's writing is always solid, but I didn't like Hyacinth Somerset from the start, which is sort of a problem... it's kinda a good thing if you enjoy your heroine.

Hyacinth was tiresome and underdeveloped, and while she was made to be meek and coddled by her overprotective family, I didn't like how she just... let them. She got better as the story progressed, but at times she didn't even seem like the same character- her personality changes didn't ring true. And I couldn't see the person from the start of the book getting involved and reacting as she did to the (unnecessary) drama that happened at the end of the story.

The male MC was okay, and I liked him more, but I think his character could have been taken even farther. I was really intrigued about him at the start, but the strange fighting scene seemed to peter out and not amount to much of anything by the end. I mean, the author made it seem like it was a regular thing and then... not really.

I thought the plot moved along smoothly, and I enjoyed the story, but I just found this one to be less than the others in the series.

My least favorite in the series so far, which means everyone else will probably love this. But for me, it was one star for the beginning, five for the middle, and one for the end...

"I want her to see out her season, if only to prove to herself that she can. What kind of life will she have if she runs away every time there's some sort of unpleasantness?"

Hyacinth Somerset is the youngest of three sisters. Naturally shy, she has been cossetted and over-protected to the point where she tries to vanish every time someone so much as looks at her. She comes a long way in this book, and her journey to realizing that she is worth something and the courage she summons up to stand up to everyone is the absolute best thing about this book. I really liked her and cheered her on in the middle part that focuses on her transformation. That part was really well done, and it was wonderful to see her find the strength she had without even realizing it.

BUT...

So, when she sees the man she thought she saw killing someone the night before (in fact, he and his brother were drunk and fighting) at a ball, she shrieks "murderer!!!" and faints away. Which is where all the trouble I had with this started. I get shy and over-protected. I get being sheltered and cosseted to the point of no self-esteem at all. But that just felt stupid to me. Never mind that yelling "murderer!" pretty much guarantees your next in line to die, but how dare she ruin an innocent's man reputation like that? And how dare EVERYONE else in that family go "oh, but little Hyacinth is just sheltered and has weak nerves, you can't blame her for this silly misunderstanding". Because excuse me, I can blame her plenty for that. Granted, she apologizes and tries to fix her mistake, which I really liked, but honestly. That premise is just not for me...

Then there was the hero himself. If you like a tortured, scowling martyr who isn't worth of the pure heroine's love and is so big and strong and brutish, you are going to looooooove Lachlan. Me, not so much. I preferred his teasing pest of a brother, I hope he gets his own story soon!

Then there was the obligatory last-minute drama which I so despise: . I wish there was less of this in books these days. But since I seem to be one of the few people who mind it this much, what do I know…

All in all, this was a nice addition to a series I am coming to really love. I really liked the first (except for some stupid drama towards the end), absolutely LOVED the second, and liked this one ok.

After three novels, I am feeling more and more confident diving into an Anna Bradley novel. They are easy to read and do not feel like a chore to get through. In other words, they are solid. And this one was of the same vein. It didn't knock me off my feet, but it was nice. I enjoyed the writing and characters.

Hyacinth Somerset is a unique heroine among more recent historical romances in that she is timid and quiet. She is afraid of most things and suffers from anxiety when she tries or thinks to try to overcome her fears. She is the youngest of five girls, and her family is in the habit of coddling her.

Lachlan Ramsey discovers he is not the oldest of three and actually has a long-lost older brother, who is the Marquess of Huntington and Hyacinth's brother-in-law. The discovery could not have come at a better time as Lachlan and the siblings he grew up with are needing to leave Scotland.

What I liked the most is Hyacinth's journey to shedding her shell. It was done in a mostly believable way, with her family having to leave her side due to other circumstances, and Lachlan seeing beyond the timid facade and coercing the more assertive side of Hyacinth out.

If I am being critical, I would note that there parts of the plot that are sweeping and glossed over or conveniently explained as needed, but it didn't matter much to me because Ms. Bradley focuses on the characters and the romance. This is what makes it very readable and ultimately enjoyable to me.

I probably least liked the "resolution" to the problems enacted by Hyacinth and Lachlan's sister toward the end. It probably could be classified as TSTL, in fact, I would say that it was. But all's well that ends well, and this does.

4.5 stars - Historical Romance

Loved this one! Lachlan is a gruff, broody, swoonalicious hero with a heart of gold and the romance between him and kind, shy Hyacinth is sweet and beautiful, especially the way he brings out her inner strength.

The audiobook narrator, Heather Wilds, is absolutely fabulous, and she did an amazing job voicing the Scottish characters. My only complaint is that I really wanted an epilogue. I can't wait for Isla's book, The Wayward Bride, and I really hope she writes a book for Ciaran.

Hyacinth Somerset is the youngest of the Somerset sister, so it is only natural that her older siblings have stepped into the role of protectors since their parents passed on. She, in turn, found it easy to fall into her assigned role of fragile youngster of the family, sheltered and cocooned by those around her until her family became her shell and she rarely had to expose herself to the outside world. This is the year though, when she is about to finally commence her debut Season and her family are tentatively encouraging her to spread her wings and fly, even though she is not to leap off very far from the ground and from their watchful eyes at all, and they have safety nets aplenty ready to cushion her.

Lachlan Ramsey has just arrived from Scotland with his 2 younger siblings in tow to claim his place as the long lost, legitimate younger brother of an English marquess. He is running away from a scandal only to be caught up in another involving Hyacinth, the sister-in-law of his newly discovered elder brother.

His first night in London sees Hyacinth falsely accusing him of murder in front of who's who of the ton, which is not a stellar way to make an impression and regain respectability for himself and his younger brother and sister. This murder accusation is easily cleared up as his supposed victim, his brawl-happy half-brother, is very much alive bar a few impressive bruises and cuts. However, there is another crime in his past not so easily dismissed. Likewise, Hyacinth is another presence in his life not easily dismissed, for beneath her timidity hides a woman with intellect and fortitude, a woman who has been hiding from everyone including herself for so long but whom he has no trouble seeing clearly from the first moment he laid eyes on her, even as she was doing her usual invisibility act behind a column in the ballroom.

His big fingers toucher her jaw, and he held her still with her face centered in the looking glass. "No. Look." Hyacinth never lingered over her glass, but now, with his warm, gentle fingers holding her, she met her mirror reflection, and perhaps for the first time in her life, she truly looked... and it was her face - her brow, and her eyes, her nose and mouth, but somehow the sum of the parts now seemed to equal a different whole...

This is the best book of the series for me. The characters were likeable. It was a sweet and well-written story, with no major drama, just a slow build up of affection between the protagonists with a great cast of secondary characters. Lachlan was wonderful - protective, masculine and ultimately decent. Hyacinth's strength was more subtle but no less impressive - visible only to those like Lachlan, who took time out to look, to see through her outward timidity and frailty. The author did not try too hard with the story line or insert inappropriately kinky scenes in. She just infused a simple story with a bit of humour and a dash of charm, and voila, we've got a winner.

I do enjoy this author's writing style and am glad I found this fresh voice in historical romance.

I'm rating Lachlan and Hyacinth's path to a HEA a four libraries-are-sexy stars...but their journey was not a smooth one. And at times, early on, I just did not think they could ever suit.

Right out of the gate, Lachlan's backstory breaks my heart. The betrayal of a much loved parent, in the Ramseys sibling's case their mother's deathbed confession, was a real hard limit for me. Not my fave plot push *sigh*

Plus, I didn't quite like Lachlan The Scowlish or Hyacinth The Overwrought for the first 25% of the book. Nor the brother, Ciaran The D-bag.
But I did love the Ramsey sister, Ilsa The Sensible and, of course, there was Finn The Sensitive!

Then the romantic magic truly began, and Hyacinth's quiet kindness bloomed, she found her backbone, and dared to live beyond the safety of her comfort zone.  Lachlan let go of his own guilt, prejudices, and secrets, making himself see his future in a different light. And these two began to really see each other *le sigh* This author can make her characters' wonderfully redeemable in the end!

I enjoyed the library trysts!! #librariesaresexy

After two really great books this had to happen.
I am sorry but this storyline was so dull and Hyacinth. No thank you. Not even a hot scot could save this book for me.
The youngest Somerset sister Hyacinth is fragile and do not like crowds. She faints in her first ball of the season and wrongly accuse her sisters husbands lost brother of murder.
What I liked:
To re-visit with the other wonderful characters in previos books
To get to know the scottish Ramsey family.
the hero ( he was scottish)
What I didn't like:
The heroine
The plot

steam level: couldn't tell I was not engaged enough
Actual rating: 2 stars but would have been 1 if it wasn't for the heros family

Mayhem on the ballroom floor!

When Scotland and England meet on the field of love there's always a bit of ruggedness, duplicity and in romance novels, sweet sweet endings. The surprising Miss Hyacinth Somerset meets Lachlan Ramsay and right from the beginning all goes dreadfully wrong. What with Hyacinth swooning and calling Lachlan a murderer the Ton's all a titter, and it seems the reclusive Hyacinth's debut is doomed from the start. And so are Lachlan's chances to bring his sister into society. So is Hyacinth more ... or less a temptress? And just why did Lachlan leave Scotland?
Once again a delightful regency romance from Anna Bradley.

Series: The Somerset Sisters #3
Publication Date: 11/13/18

I thoroughly enjoyed this third book in the Somerset Sisters series. It is excellently written and the characters were very likable. I say that with just a little surprise because I had read some of the reviews and had expected to thoroughly dislike the heroine. That was not the case, but maybe that is because I actually knew a person with many of the anxiety and panic issues with which our heroine dealt. It wasn’t a situation she chose, it was just who she was. She was not my favorite heroine, but I loved seeing her grow and learn to handle her issues.

Hyacinth Somerset is the last unmarried Somerset sister. All of her other sisters have married in love and scandal, but surely that won’t be the case for sweet, kind, loving, excessively shy and panic driven Hyacinth. Hyacinth had been extremely shy and reserved all of her life. She also had a stutter and was teased mercilessly by other children. Then, at the tender age of fifteen, the fragile and emotionally vulnerable Hyacinth lost her parents suddenly and tragically. Hyacinth just withdrew into herself. She even quit speaking. As she was rebounding from that tragedy, her sisters and grandmother began to coddle her – excessively. They were constantly making her rest or taking her to Brighton to keep her from being ‘overwrought’. After so many years, Hyacinth just bought into all of that, because her family loved her and knew her best, so surely they knew what was wrong with her – besides, it was just easier to go along than it was to actually deal with problems, people and issues.

Lachlan Ramsey, his brother, Ciaran, and his sister, Isla needed to escape Scotland. A horrible event had ruined them in the eyes of their community. As their mother lay dying, she grieved for the tragedy that had engulfed her family, so she imparted some family secrets to Lachlan so he could save them all. That information shocked, saddened and dismayed Lachlan, but he had to share it with his siblings and then do as his mother asked.

Ciaran and Isla were shocked to learn that their parentage wasn’t what they’d thought. Ciaran was particularly belligerent because his betrothed had just dumped him in a cruel and hateful way, and now he learns his family isn’t what he thought it was. Being a big, brawny Highlander who was constantly enraged, he started drinking to excess and brawling with Lachlan.

Coincidentally, the Ramsey’s and Hyacinth’s family were at the Horse and Groom Inn as each family was making their way to London. As had become his habit, Ciaran got very, very drunk. Then, he accused a Lord of cheating at cards and Lachlan had to drag him out before Ciaran ended up in a duel. Ciaran chose to start a brawl, a brutal and bloody one, with Lachlan right in the Inn-yard. Hyacinth had snuck out of her room and stepped outside for some fresh air – just in time to witness the brawl. As she watches, both men become bloodier and bloodier. When one of them is finally knocked out, the other drags him off. Hyacinth immediately believes she’s witnessed a murder – there was just too much blood for him not to be dead – and he didn’t get up again.

A couple of days later, Hyacinth is at a ball, hiding behind a large column, and she sees the murderer. He is staring right at her. Then, he starts toward her! Panic!!! Will he murder her too? Everybody in the ballroom seems to be watching and listening. Especially when Hyacinth says, “You… you k—killed him. You’re a m—m—murderer.” Then she promptly fainted.

That was the beginning of Lachlan and Hyacinth’s relationship. It is hard to picture those two managing to get together and fall in love, but they manage to do it. What I loved was seeing Hyacinth’s struggle and growth and seeing Lachlan encouraging and supporting her. I thought it was a lovely, lovely story.

Was it a perfect story? No. But I thoroughly enjoyed it and nothing about it troubled me overmuch. I thought Lachlan was a little too quick to forgive Hyacinth. Then, at one point, when explaining the Ramsey family, the author says that Ciaran is a bastard. That would NOT be correct – at least not legally. Ciaran’s mother was legally married and that husband did not renounce the child. So, legally Ciaran is the legitimate son of his mother and her husband, even though that husband is not the physical father.

I also had trouble swallowing the details behind the Ramsey’s need to flee Scotland. Given what happened, I absolutely cannot fathom every person in that village turning violently against the Ramseys – especially those friends they had known and loved all of their lives. I just don’t buy it. There were a couple of other things – but – all were minor.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read and absolutely loved Hyacinth’s journey into strength and self-reliance.

I felt bad for Hyacinth. Reading the blur I thought she would be some idiot, but I do get why she did the mistake she did. She had been sheltered and then she saw something that truly shocked her. When she then saw the man again she accused him of being a murderer. Because she was scared! Yes an idiotic thing to do. Where is the body? Maybe have some evidence first. It really was her grandmother's and sisters felt. They had coddled her, thinking she was some wilting flower and she had let herself think of herself in that way too.

Lachlan is running from something with her siblings. It took ages to find out what, which was silly cos he kept thinking of the THING all the time, but we did not learn what it was even though we were in his brain. I actually did find it quite shocking and did not understand why there had been no repercussions. But he really is a good man, he wants to protect his siblings and with a brother that is angry that is not easy.

The story is then that they are going to find their English halfbrother, who is married to Hyacint's sister. Then all hell breaks loose and then they have to try to ease their way back into society's good graces. And the Ton were such asshats to Hyacint! Yes she lost it, but come on, snobbish idiots!

Then there is a story in the background and we hear snippets of it and I was devastating when the book ended and Isla had no HEA! Isla being Lachlan's sister who has her own thing going on. But fear not! I just checked and her story is coming in 2019! Phew!

A wilting flower meets a scowling Scot. What could possibly go wrong? Fun!

Aww, yes I liked her Scottish accents. I always like those. It also makes it easier for her to have more voices going on which is nice.

Regency romance story with a brooding man and a timid debutante. The mystery aspect kept me wondering until the end but I found it hard to connect with the characters, especially Hyacinth. I don't know if it's because I'm starting to find meek debutants tiresome or it was this heroine in particular that I din't like. Lachlan was ok for the most part but there were instances when I thought his surliness was over the top. I also found the pace a little to slow for my taste and the end was not my favorite either. Overall it was an ok read but unfortunately not the best in the series.

I usually adore everything that Anna Bradley writes, but that particular book just didn’t do it for me and even if it mostly had to do with the heroin, but not only.

Hyacinth was shy and had always been overprotected, but she wished to show the world in general - and her family in particular - that she could stand up for herself. Yet she took her sweet time to make it happen, I felt it was too much and the way her family reacted around her ? Too much also. I couldn’t believe people who ever react this way. The balance wasn’t well done, even if I could understand where it came from. I couldn’t really relate to her or even much like her.

I didn’t like Lachlan much also, he keeps brooding and scowling. I didn’t like his brother at the beginning, too (« I’m such a martyr, I have the right to complain about everything, just beat me »), but he got better near the end, fortunately.

And the villain ? Oh please, I didn’t believe in this situation one single second ! The blackmail itself ? That the blackmailer chose her as a target of all people ? That he wanted to prevent her from doing the only thing that could provide her with the money ? And the thing that happened near the end to reveal him and *she* knows what that detail means ? Not one single second, I said !

Everything felt forced, the characters, the situation…

However, I keep my faith in this author : you can’t write good books every time, she has the right to not be good sometimes and I bet the next will be absolutely great !

On his mother Elizabeth Huntington Ramsey death bed she tells Lachlan Huntington that he is not a Ramsey!! His real father was the deceased Marquess of Huntington. Elisabeth tells Lachlan after her burial to take his half brother Ciaran and half sister Isla to Huntington Lodge and for him to introduce himself as the whole and legitimate brother of Phineas/Finn Huntington the Marquess of Huntington. It's never really explained why Elizabeth left her husband the Marquess of Huntington and her young son Finn? She also, was already pregnant with Lachlan why would she deprive him of the life he was born to the 2nd son of a Marques?

On there way to Huntington Lodge Lachlan and Ciaran have a brutal fight. This fight is witness by Hyacinth Somerset. She is the youngest and the last unmarried Somerset sisters. Hyacinth believes she has witness a murder. So when Lachlan shows up unannounced at the Huntington Ball she accuses him of murder and faints dead away.

This causes a scandal for Hyacinth. We all know the Ton is always looking for some scandal to chat about and this to them is a biggy. Why she just accused the brother of Marquess of Huntington of Murder!!

Finn explains to his new found brother that this will cause Hyacinth to be shunned by the ton and that she must leave right away with her grandmother and hide in Bath until another scandal happens.

My problem with the story is it was alot of banter/chatter with the characters. But there was very little romantic connection between the H/H. There is one sex scene at the very last pages. I wanted more courtship and romantic interaction between them. Also, I wanted to see a developing relationship between Lachlain and his brother Finn. There was no connection and getting to know each. There relationship is just dead, but Finn does welcome his new siblings into his home and family quickly. He even set them up with allowances and new clothing the entire works. Even though Ciaran and Isla are his half siblings. There just was No interaction between the Siblings none at all.

This was just an Okay read for me.

This was a great book. It took me a bit to get into it, and stop being frustrated with the heroine, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. Lachlan Ramsey is trying to reconnect with the family he never knew he had so his brother and sister can have better lives than what they left behind. Hyacinth is "delicate" and shy and hides from the world behind her facade of poor health. The more protective Lachlan becomes of her, the more she learns to stand up for herself and really embraces her true self, rather than the fragile lady her family had seen her as up until this point. There was enough intrigue in this one to keep it interesting and some delightful secondary characters, as well as some good witty banter. Once I got past the first few chapters in which Hyacinth was just annoying to me, I really liked this book. I'd recommend it.

I love reading this series its funny, and romantic, and the characters are so believable.
This is Hyacinths Hea , she’s been matched with Lachlan and a more unusual and less likely pair you never seen, at least in the beginning , they develop and melt together wonderfully.
Great writing, characters and storyline.
Can’t say better than that .

Youngest of the Somerset sisters, Hyacinth is delicate, vulnerable, protected. Smothered. While she was only fifteen when her parents’ death sent her into a state of silent shock, she’s older now and constantly being told she’s weak, frail, vulnerable… it’s taken its toll on a girl who is far stronger than she herself realises.

Lachlan Ramsey may be the most intimidating man in London… and that’s even if Hyacinth hadn’t seen him been a man to death and hide the body just a couple of nights before. Or so she thinks. When she sees the killer right in front of her at her debut ball, she can’t stay silent, but it’s an embarrassing mistake that will have serious repercussions for both of them unless she can pull herself together and publicly demonstrate that she’s not only unafraid of Lachlan, but willing to welcome him into her extended family.

An overwrought debutante accusing him of murder in front of half the Ton really isn’t the start to his London adventure Lachlan wanted, especially with his sister’s future at stake. For Isla’s sake, he has to put on a public face of amiability with Hyacinth. Being that close, though, he soon discovers there’s a lot more to the shyest Somerset sister than meets the eye.

Lachlan’s a wonderful hero; protective of those he loves and determined to see them happy no matter what the cost to himself, he’s sharply astute and sees things about Hyacinth even her own family don’t notice. For her part, Hyacinth comes off as a study in contradictions; quiet, until she needs to speak up, shy until she has to be forceful, timid unless she has to be brave. Everything about Lachlan prods her out of her comfort zone, but the brilliant part about this story is Hyacinth’s slowly dawning realisation that she actually doesn’t LIKE her comfort zone. She likes the Hyacinth who can be outspoken, forceful and brave, and that’s the Hyacinth Lachlan gives her the strength to be.

I loved the way this story turned out, the way Lachlan and Hyacinth were so perfect for each other despite such a disastrous beginning. The depths of their characters were really well explored. Also, I fell utterly in love with Ciaran, Lachlan’s gorgeous brother who made it his mission to dance with all the neglected wallflowers at balls. SWOON. Hoping for Ciaran’s story very soon!

Five stars for a charming end to a series I’ve very much enjoyed!

I loved it! I'll admit, at first I found Hyacinth to be a bit trying and tedious, but I thought she redeemed herself at the end! To me, it made her feel more human. This book may have started a wee bit slower than its two predecessors, but I really enjoyed it, especially the last couple chapters that had me laughing out loud! I love Anna Bradley's books and cannot wait to read more!

Anna Bradley finally DID it ! I could never enjoy her books because even when they had it all, what they especially had was a LOUT as a Hero. Everytime I was chanting " Please please not a forceful a** AGAIN", and my chanting-prayers were heard, this time, and as a result I have THOUROUGLY enjoyed this book. Our hero was a darling, our she-hero went through a beautiful and (quite)realistic character growth, this deserves an AMEN !

This has been the worst of times for Lachlan Ramsey. He recently lost his father, and his mother is on her deathbed. While protecting his sister, Isla, from a brutal attack, the incident turned tragic, causing him and his family to be ostracized in their home village. If all this weren’t bad enough, his dying mother reveals an earth shattering truth to him, one that turns his world upside down. Lachlan takes his younger siblings with him to begin a new life in England, leaving their beloved Scotland behind forever. His brother, Ciaran, particularly resents him greatly, as he was forced to leave his love behind, as she now rejected him. Ciaran’s drinking and bad temper causes the two brothers to brawl almost every day. To an outsider, it looks as if they are intent on murdering each other, and that’s exactly what a shocked young lady believes she is seeing.

When Hyacinth Somerset escapes the stifling room she’s sharing with her grandmother for a much needed breath of fresh air, she is petrified to see two large men pummeling each other behind the inn. When one of the men drags the other off, she’s sure that she’s witnessed a murder. Too traumatized to tell anyone what she’s seen, she continues on her journey with her grandmother. To her utter shock, she encounters the same man at a ball, where she publicly calls him a murderer and faints dead away.

Lachlan had entered the ballroom of his newly discovered brother, Phineas, the Marquess of Huntington. Before he had a chance to approach his brother and request an audience, he is taken aback by Hyacinth’s beauty, which seems to stand out among all the other lovely English roses. As he approaches her, she makes her shocking proclamation, and chaos ensues. Eventually, as the situation is sorted out, Hyacinth realizes her mistake. Not only that, but Iris, Hyacinth’s sister is married to Phineas, Lachlan’s brother, making them extended family. (sort of)

Hyacinth is a very timid, fearful, anxious person. She has always been wrapped in cotton by her family, who insists on protecting her from any unpleasant situation. She has been of a mixed mind about her debut season, desiring it as almost every young lady does, yet dreading the social situations, where she tends to hide behind columns and avoid dancing. Lachlan is burdened by a secret he’s carrying, as well as the unhappiness he’s caused his family. His demeanor appears fierce and unfriendly, while his size makes him an imposing figure.

Phineas accepts his new family, and tries to find a way to get society to welcome them. He also wants Hyacinth to be forgiven for her outburst and accusations at the ball, and to continue with her season. Surprisingly, it is Lachlan who sees the hidden strength and wit inside Hyacinth, something everyone else is blind to. As she fumbles through the season, enduring snubs, cruel jokes, and insults, it’s Lachlan who is her greatest champion. He’s the one who convinces her she has the strength to stay when her family would like to give it up and leave town.

When Hyacinth made a scene at the ball, I honestly felt that there was no way I was going to like her, as my first impression was that she was immature and somewhat ridiculous. My opinion changed almost immediately as I got to know her, and I began to understand her fears. I could also see that she truly did have a beautiful heart, and a courageous spirit that she just had to bring forward. Lachlan is just the kind of hero I adore – big, strong, gruff exterior, tortured, and he fell so, so hard for Hyacinth.

MORE OR LESS A TEMPTRESS is not only a passionate and tender romance, but a wonderful story of a fearful young lady finding her balance, and a devastated man finding forgiveness and a new home. I love Lachlan’s and Hyacinth’s journey to finding genuine love with each other. Hyacinth’s siblings are such dynamic characters, that I hope their stories are forthcoming. Anna Bradley’s writing just gets better with each book, and this whole Somerset Sisters series has been outstanding.

Hyacinth Somerset’s debut is the most anticipated event of the season, as it will be the reclusive young lady’s first public appearance. But within moments of being asked to dance by a dashing stranger, Hyacinth calls him a murderer, then faints dead away! Now all the ton is a aflutter over Hyacinth’s baffling shun of their most intriguing newcomer—the wildly handsome Lachlan Ramsey. Recently arrived from Scotland, Lachlan only wishes to claim his place in society to secure his sister’s future. Yet it appears Hyacinth has only damaged her own hopes, inspiring the label of hysteric and ultimately inspiring Lachlan to shelter her from harm. Now if only there were a defence for the surge of feeling he has every time Hyacinth turns her gaze his way.
This is the third novel in the series & could easily be read on its own. I’d eagerly awaited this novel as the books featuring the Sutherlands & Somersets' have been great reads & I loved Iris & Violets’ stories. Whilst I really enjoyed this book it wasn't my favourite & to begin with I was a tad disappointed but the further I read the more I became engrossed. Hyacinth has been molly coddled by her grandmother & sisters so it was very satisfying how Lachlan brought out the best in her. I loved how she grew in confidence throughout the book. Lachlan is a strapping Scot hard on the outside but with a soft centre. They are like chalk & cheese but gradually mesh perfectly together. There were parts that I found hard to believe but it’s fiction so leeway has to be given.
I adored Ciaran & how he spent his time at balls only singling out the wallflowers, I hope he has his story. Isla also has to have her story.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

The Hero, Lachlan Ramsey is shaken after he learns from his dying mother that he not Scottish but in fact English and the brother of Lord Huntington. After being shun by everyone in his village, he and his half-siblings at the bequest of his mother, travel to London in hopes of being taken in by his brother and starting a new life after an unfortunate incident that has labored Lachlan a murderer.

While staying at an inn, Hyacinth Somerset who has been labeled as one who swoons at the drop of a dime, witnesses Lachlan and Cairan his half-brother in a brawl and assumes that Cairan is dead after being knocked unconscious. Once they reach London, Lachlan appears the Huntington ball, and Hyacinth accuses him of being a murderer and causes a great scandal among the ton.

I’ve never read any of Ms. Bradley’s novels, however I loved reading this story. ❤ The author had a way of oozing out the hidden secret of the Ramsey siblings. It was great writing from the author and I also loved the tremendous support that Lachlan devoted to Hyacinth when she did not know her own strength. In some ways, she grew stronger and he at times mimicked her nonself-assured personality. The pacing was good and the intimate scenes between the H/h were spot on. Totally recommend this read and plan to read the others in the series.

Thanks to NetGalley/Author/Kensington Books for this read in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

More or Less a Lady by Anna Bradley
The Somerset Sisters #3

Hyacinth Somerset has always been seen by her family as weak and in need of being protected to the point that she is losing sight of who she could be…until Lachland Ramsey comes on the scene, that is. Lachland runs into Hyacinth at a ball and the first words out of her mouth, followed by her swoon, make things a wee bit more difficult for all of them. But surprisingly enough it is Lachland who sees her inner strength and promotes it in ways that make her realize that there is more strength within her than she once thought.

This is a story of family and of doing what is best for those you love. It is the story of a woman coming into her own. It is also a love story and it was a fun one to read. Sure, there was a nasty female who though the belle of the season left much to be desired and a rather nasty man who was finally put in place but all in all it was the love story of Hyacinth and Lachland and a fun way to spend the day. It did leave me wondering about Lachland’s brother and sister and whether or not they would be getting stories of their own so I will be on the lookout because I do wonder who they will eventually end up with.

Thank you to NetGalley and The Passionate Pen for the ARC – This is my honest review.

More or Less a Temptress by Anna Bradley is book Three in The Somerset Sisters series. This is the story of Hyacinth Somerset and Lachlan Ramsey. I have read the previous books, but feel you can make this a standalone book.
Hyacinth has lived a very family protective life due to her taking the death of her parents so hard that she lost her voice at one time. Now she struggles with stuttering and her shyness. Lachlan learned on his mother death bed something that can change him, his sister and brother's lives. After his mother death he moves forward to move to the town. Lachlan brother who is dealing with being dumped by a women is drinking and gambling which leads to a violent incident at a Inn where Hyacinth bared witness too. Hyacinth is the last of the Somerset sister to be present to the town. Hyacinth fights to keep her shyness at bay along with her growing interest in Lachlan.
Really have enjoyed this series.

I want to thank Anna Bradley, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of More or Less a Temptress that I won in the Giveaway.

Hyacinth Somerset, is the youngest Somerset sister and is known to be reserved, shy and when she was younger she suffered from a stutter. Her family protected her with no idea of the other side of Hyacinth's personality. She has strong feelings for those she loves, will fight to defend them and has a wicked wit that appears when provoked.

Lachlan Ramsey is a large man, was raised in Scotland and has come to find his brother in England after his mother's death and the scandal in his small village that has made his brother and sister and himself outcasts. He doesn't know his older brother, has found trusting hard after the deception and lies from his own mother so this sets the plot for how he meets Hyacinth and all the humor and romance that leads to a happy ending for these two very unlikely lovers. More or Less a Temptress is a great period romance set in London during the season with all the social restrictions of the ton presented to fit perfectly into the plot.

Regency London at it's best engages our senses with this delightful story full of romance and humor as a young debutante makes her debut. Hyacinth, the youngest of the Sommerset sisters, engages in her first dance with Lachlan, newly from Scotland. He has come to claim his rightful place in society but receives a startling accusation from the young miss! To say their first meeting started with a bang is telling it mildly! This pair, although seemed to be so different, were really meant for each other in the end. He helps Hyacinth gain her confidence, after being in the background of her older sisters.
Following her as she slowly came out of her shell and seeing her and Lachlan together was a true delight. The characters came to life and brought a smile to my heart. Do not miss this third installment of the Somerset Sisters series. You will be glad you did.

More or Less a Temptress by Anna Bradley was a completely riveting book, and I could not put it down! I was completely sucked in from very beginning and was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story. It flows nicely, full of emotion and believable. I love the storyline, it is fast paced, unpredictable and exciting! The story is full of wonderful characters. Ciaran and Isla are very magnetic characters and intrigued me from the get go, I’d really like to hear their stories. I was completely enamoured by Lachlan. He is everything a hero should be *swoon*. I wasn’t sure if I would like Hyacinth at first but I grew to love her too. The character development was fantastic. This story is beautifully written and one that you could read again and again. I highly recommend this book!

I don’t take to Hyacinth at first because of the way she allowed her family to fuss over her. Although she was shy and did tend to hide away, she also managed people. I liked her more when she became a stronger person, the side of her character she hadn’t shown to her family. Lachlan was quite the opposite, he didn’t hold back but he had a very caring side and he was able to see through Hyacinth’s disguise. I liked the way their romance developed. Although a little slow at the start, it turned out to be an entertaining read that I enjoyed very much. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Somersets don't make love easy, but they sure do keep society interested. More or Less a Temptress is Hyacinth's turn to shine. Instead she stirs up a ruckus that could impact more than her reputation. It could end with her losing her heart. Always bold, never boring and hard to resist, this group of sisters make showstopping fun.
