Who doesn’t love a World’s Fair? Well, some murdering psychopath doesn’t.
Simon and Elizabeth time travel back to 1900 Paris, a time when Toulouse-Lautrec sips cognac at a corner table at the Moulin Rouge, electricity is a new-fangled invention, and someone is hellbent on sabotaging the Paris Exposition.
Immersed in a world of Bohemian artists, absinthe, and political strife, Simon and Elizabeth must find out who is behind the sabotage and stop them before they set off World War One a few years early.
It’s a romantic and dangerous puzzle only the Crosses can solve.

I am always excited for new books from Monique Martin! Elizabeth and Simon are time traveling again. And once again, Elizabeth must don a hated corset. This time finds them at the 1900 Paris exhibition.
As a history teacher I always loved talking about this time period and if you want more history and images to increase your enjoyment, check out People's Century: Age of Hope (1900). It was wonderful having a visual background to the exposition. There's a lot for lovers of history to enjoy in this series.
These books have an ongoing love story with new adventures in each installment. Lots of adventure throughout the books.
It is so good to enjoy another Simon and Elizabeth adventure! I'm not sure edge-of-my-seat is quite right, considering I finished while lying in bed, but you get the picture! Once again, Monique drew a fantastic picture of Paris, the exposition, the people, the puzzle. I nearly cheered when Elizabeth asked the inspector to close his eyes, but I won't ruin it for the reader.....but it's great!
Another great adventure with Simon and Elizabeth. I do miss the beginning of the books of past when the consul would visit the Cross's to explain the mission and when the mission was completed, their return to the present. Nice short book for a one sit reading.
I didn't enjoy this book nearly as well as the previous ones in the series. Perhaps I just wasn't interested in the subject matter. But very disappointed in the book.
