The Repo Man

Rate this book
Cready Marsen wants two things in South Florida Sunshine and a mountain of money. Living on his forty-seven foot trawler at Dinner Key Marina gets him sunshine, and his work as a private investigator who reclaims stolen goods outside the bounds of the law brings in cash, but it requires every bit of Cready’s skill, guts, and questionable morals.

When a scummy businessman offers Cready work with a big payout, he happily accepts. The job’s tricky, but nothing he can’t handle. At least, until his client’s daughter gets involved. She’s doe-eyed, gorgeous, and runs with bad company.

Cready’s job gets complicated, and deadly, in a hurry. He’ll have to think fast and act faster if he’s going to outwit the assassins and thieves after his client's property, because if he fails, he’ll lose everything he holds dear—including his life.

First off, an apology to Stewart. This book, an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy), got buried on my Kindle and is VERY late. Stewart was one of the first authors I started reading and reviewing on Amazon & Goodreads.

Grumpy and sullen Cready with his dog Bog, live on a boat. Cready is a quasi PI who dabbles here and there.

Cready meets a girl, Sophia. He's smitten and wants to protect her from the truth of her father, whom he believes to be a mobster.

The story takes off with murder, a bunch of paintings, and cocaine.

Follow the leads and Cready"s desire to protect the innocent damsel in distress.

For animal lovers, it's safe to read. I don't mind reading about torturing humans, but I get nervous when doggo's are involved in a plot...

You’ve Never Met A “Repo Man” Like “Cready Marsen” Before! Smart. Resourceful. Funny.

Author Stewart Matthews once again gives us a new series, one which I hope as a reader, and a fan, has an extremely long and successful run.

I found this book to be an extremely good read, especially for the beginning of a new series as the author provides sufficient “backstory”, an interesting plot, and several well-developed characters.
Once you’ve read it I’m certain you shall agree.

Throughout my reading of the book, which I read after receiving an Advanced Readers Copy, I was at times quickly turning the pages, and at other times laughing almost to the point of tears. Personally, I’m looking forward to many more “adventures” with “Cready Marsen” and others who survived this account.

Lastly a thought was continually brought to the forefront of my mind as I read, that being “Keep you friends close, and your enemies even closer’.

Sorry folks, but to write more would be to give out spoilers. I make a zealous attempt to never give out spoilers in a review.

I “Highly Recommend”, this new book by a gifted author Mr. Stewart Matthews. Write on Mr. Matthews. Write On. I’ll be waiting.

Good who done it.

Repo man (Cready) is hired to find two paintings, at the same time as protecting the owners daughter, Sophia. The owner, the daughter’s current boyfriend and one of his buddies are all murdered, in two separate killings, but at the same time. Cready still continues trying to find the paintings, while protecting Sophia. Most important thing about Cready - he drives a mint 1963 Lincoln convertible. No spoiler alerts here. ENJOY!

Style is a little rough around the edges

It took me a bit to get used to the choppy writing style, but finally settled in. Overall, A good story with a few twists thrown in. I did like Bog!

A pretty good read.

I am always looking for a good novel with a bunch of graphic sex and foul language. It's not needed.

sort of liked the novel at first look

The novel as interesting, but as the narrative progressed it was like a roadmap as to who did what to whom. Slight recommendation.
