Believe it or not, this is a good read for women...even the post-feminist! Level-headed, fun and even practical. Much more to it than you might guess by the cover and title.
I have a major fascination with Playboy, the light and the glaring dark, so I expected this book to have some interesting but very dated (maybe even degrading) advice... but I'm pleasantly surprised.
The advice was actually great and forward-thinking and had a very female focus- arguably it was quite feminist! It encourages self-confidence, independence, healthy relationships, healthy sexual relationships... it was pretty good like that. Along with some fun girly tips that were just that- fun and cute.
There were a few instances of raised-brow but really not as bad as I was expecting, and those instances were pretty minor (and maybe more opinion based than anything, in fact I can't even remember what the specifics were).
Overall it was an educational and fun read, and as a feminist myself, no where near what I expected! The advice still holds up extremely well today and as I mentioned, was fairly forward-thinking and even empowering at times.
This was maybe the craziest thing i’ve ever read. It clearly did not age well in the slightest; misogynistic overtones and homophobic slights are common. However, it was so blunt that I found myself laughing at loud of few times. Kinda the perfect book to laugh about with your friends.
The Bunny Book is a fun and friendly girl-to-girl look at just about everything in the world of women. In cute, short blasts of up-to-date info, three former Bunnies (Deanna Brooks, Miss May 1998, Pennelope Jimenez, Miss March 2003, and Serria Tawan, Miss November 2002) tackle dating, hairstyles, etiquette and anything else you've ever giggled with girlfriends about. While most of this book has been covered in every issue of your favorite mags, some haven't -- like the philosophy that "everyone pays for sex in some way," the how-to for having sex in a restaurant bathroom, and the timeless reminder "don't sit there and tell your guy you're about to take a big dump." The breathless advice of the the Other Girls Next Door is a cute read and a fun hop through the mall, the closet and, yes, the bedroom. - Virginia O'Brien @ BlogOnBooks
This book was fun. I have been been watching the girls next door and have had fun watching it. This book had some neat tips for fashion, makeup and hair. I have short hair and have been using wigs and a fake ponie tail for the times i feel like having long hair. I use to feel silly doing this but this booked showed me that I didnt have to feel that way. In fact one of the bunnies that wrote the book wears wigs so i dont feel so sily now. It also had some great makeup tips like how to apply and what with and even what colors look good with what. I have used these tips and I can sincerly say I feel prettier and more confident. So if you want something silly read it. ^_^
I'm fascinated by all things Bunny. It was a cleverly illustrated and well designed book. The advice sounds responsible, safe but never preachy like most books by women. The Bunny Book is a fantastic exception to the female author rule.
