I ran from a monster. A monster I thought was gentle and kind. A monster I thought loved me. I was wrong. So very wrong. I took a bus out west and landed in a small town in Wyoming. Ryker, the town’s sheriff, has been helping me to settle in. But I can’t get that comfortable, even if things seem quiet around here. I’ll keep looking over my shoulder, no matter how safe Ryker thinks he can keep me. I know the monster is waiting in the shadows.
Trigger This book contains strong subject matter that may not be suitable for all readers. The topics in this book involve domestic violence, abuse, sexual abuse, profanity and sexual situations. Reader discretion is advised.
The hero just about ruined the book for me towards the end’. He didn’t believe her and I felt so bad for her. She was a basket case though and came off kind of trippy. I can see why he thought that. I wondered though what changed her Fiancé. For a while I thought it was going to be an evil twin take over but it never said why he changed. I really did enjoy this story. It was a quick read, safe and free in K U I will definitely read this author again.
Quick Summary Zoey is on the run from an abusive relationship and ends up meeting Ryker. There is definitely instant attraction between the two, but Zoey is trying to keep a low profile, in case her ex tracks her down. Dating the town sheriff is a sure fire way of not staying on the DL.
When strange mishaps keep happening around her, Zoey’s convinced it’s somehow tied up to her crazy ex, only, being the new girl in town with secrets, she becomes the primary suspect.
When the accidents start to escalate, will Ryker still be in her corner or will Zoey have to make a run for it again, only this time with a broken heart?
🖤 ~ My Thoughts ~ 🖤 I’ll probably in the minority here but I liked Ryker’s corny jokes. I highlighted each one and shared it with my nephews who had a good laugh at them 😊
Now to the overall story, this deals with a lot of traumatic and triggering subjects for some. See spoiler-y info below for full deets.
Zoey, AKA Nicole was a hard character to warm up too even after knowing what she’s running from. I definitely felt bad for al the hard knocks in life she got, especially with her craptastic parents but I wanted to see her become more independent and to own her fear and turn it into motivation to defend herself.
I felt like she jumped headlong into a relationship with Ryker and then questions and second guessed everything between them.
Ryker wasn’t much better. He was such a sweetheart (almost too sweet), accepting Zoey without reservations, defending her against his family and the rest of the town only to lash out at her when she needed him the most. It was predictable and cliché, how he went from one extreme to the next.
I’m sure others might enjoy this one more but I needed more fleshed out characters than the MCs delivered. Overall, not bad but not a favorite.
Extra (Spoiler-y) Info :
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Nicole is engaged to Mitch, a man who years ago treated her like a queen but now mistreats her in every possible way. The point has come that Nicole fears for her life, so the day finally comes when she plucks up her courage and runs away from Mitch. Her coincidences cause her to end up in a small town where she ends up getting the attention of Sheriff Ryker. As soon as Ryker sees her for the first time he falls in love with her, he knows that she is running away from something from her, so he offers her to work on his family's ranch and live in his house. As time goes by, both characters end up falling in love, but Mitch is not done with Nicole yet and will return to haunt her life. Tears welled up in my eyes as I saw Nicole's despair when no one believed her. A great story with good characters.
Holy cow! This was an awesome story! Lynn has done it again! I absolutely loved Ryker and Zoe's story. Hoping for a story for each of Tyler's brothers and maybe a girl to take Deputy McCormick down, too! Hint. Hint.
Wowzer, this book made me feel everything. Zoey flees her home and ends up in a beautiful town in Wyoming where she meets Sheriff Ryker who immediately grows attached to her. The connection between the two is hesitant at first. Zoey constantly feels in danger, watching the shadows despite Ryker's vow to keep her safe. Can she find happiness? Will she submit her feelings to Ryker? This is the first book I've read by Lynn and she did not disappoint. An angsty gritty plot that left me eagerly reading page by page. Her writing about domestic abuse touched me and was written beautifully and completely did it justice. Trigger warning - domestic abuse (psychological and physical) Eagerly waiting for more from this author now.
I loved this book. It was so cute when Zoey/Nicole got to Wyoming. I feel so horrible about all the things that she had to go through but with Ryker by her side it made it better. Zoey struggled to open up to Ryker at first and it made it worth the wait to know that Ryker wasn’t like her ex. Zoey/Nicole deserved the world and I loved that Ryker gave her the opportunity to let her be herself and free her wings to be happy. Lynn did an amazing job letting the book and plot flow amazingly. She did a wonderful job mixing and concocting a story full of love, pain, and tempting the chances of fate.
MAKE SURE TO PREORDER IT !!! IT COMES OUT JULY 15TH!!!😍😍
Safe With Me is not my usual kind of read, but the story kept me engaged and had an exciting finish that I didn't see coming. Ryker is a steamy main character; his brothers and parents are a terrific combination of loving and suspicious. I loved the small town vibe and all the characters in it. Well done!
All I can say is this is the first book from this author and it is 100% amazing. If you love romantic suspense novel then this is the book for you. This book is fill with twist and turn and steamy romance. This book is action packed story and I couldnt put the book down. I read this book more than once and I can say this is a must read book.
Trigger warning, gaslighting by the villain. Beautiful story of a woman's strength to move on from trauma. Nicole was amazing and I was rooting for her every step of the way.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book. It was a painfully beautiful look at domestic violence and how dangerous it is to try to escape, all wrapped up in a captivating love story. The suspense was off the charts from the very start of the book when Zoey first tells Mitch about the car, and it is palpable throughout. By the time things started to go wrong in Zoey's new life, my heart was beating out of my chest. I'm team Ryker all the way. He's quite a unique hero in that he isn't damaged or dangerous to an unhealthy degree once you scratch the surface, and he doesn't hide terrible secrets about his past. Or rather, his beautiful dangerous side comes out only when protecting the woman he loves. I loved that about him so much--reading the book felt like being enveloped in a hot, sexy, protective Ryker hug from the moment we met him. He's witty and sharp and so protective. He's an absolute delight to read and a hero that will stand out for a long time after you have finished the book. I loved how clearly the story was written. There was never any confusion as to what was happening. By the end of the book, my heart was in my throat. A highly memorable story that was a joy to read. I can't wait to read more from this talented author.
Safe until things "don't look right" despite your gut telling you to trust her, the evidence doesn't match up with who you know her to be but nah - let's toss her out. The people she started to trust turning on her, his family, the town making it seem like she's crazy - not a chance in hell does a HEA make sense here in my head lol
Do I like them together no - not at all. I was into it up until I think the 70% mark when the whole thing went up in smoke because the sherif is an idiot.
Giving it a 3 because I did like it up until then... at that point I was too invested and rage read the remaining 30% and rolled my eyes SO HARD when he said I am so sorry 😑 stfu apology not accepted on her behalf.
In my mind, she left happy to live in a new town by herself with people that didn't flip the script on her and loved her the whole damn time. 😅🤣

It was very much an instalove scenario but it didn’t quite work for me.
Nicole/Zoey/Allison ran from her abusive now-ex. But I found her jumping on the Ryker train was done way too quickly. Mostly because there was no build up to when they first met to their first kiss.
And Ryker - came on way to strong right from the get-go… especially because he suspected she was abused. That it itself would have been a red flag for me.
Otherwise for a quick romance read it ticked all the boxes. The little plot twist was a nice touch as it was not expected.
A very young & beautiful FMC is trapped in an abusive relationship. After getting no help from her “family,” she goes on the run. A broken travel bus, a tiny town in Wyoming and a hot Sheriff lead to a twisted game of cat & mouse as her abuser is much more than she realized. She is much more than anyone realizes. Her story is the key to bringing down a crime syndicate...but will the Sheriff realize in time to save her?
Omg this defiantly deserves 5 stars it had me on edge of my seat and not wanting to put it down I started it today and it took a day to finish I was that obsessed with it. It pulled so Many heart strings. Mitch what a total wobbler (think of another word but I can't post it here) I'm so happy zoey managed to get away and find that safe place for her even though. I love a good happy ending. Will Defo get this book for my shelf
WOW! This is an action packed novel! Zoey is on the run from abuse. Wyoming is a wonderful place to put down new roots. Sheriff Ryker and his family are an added bonus! Read this suspense filled novel with its twists and turns to find out just what happens in this small town setting.
This is an interesting story and concept. A woman on the run finds herself in a small town hiding from her past and mistakes. The romantic elements of the story are believable. The characters are well written. A very enjoyable and entertaining book all the way through. Loved the story. Great read.
The story is good and I like the writing. The only problem I have with the book is the giant plot hole that forms a basis for the story.
SPOILER
Brett and Mitch fine Zoey too easily. She took no electronics or credit cards and ended up in the town because the bus broke down. Mitch could not have tracked her that easily or quickly.
Nicole is Running from abusive relationship from Mitch. She changed her name to Zoey and found Sheriff Ryker. This is a story about two brave people. A woman who started a new beginnings from pain. And a Sheriff who became the best protector after 🎭 tragedy. Two hearts become more❤️❤️.
Ryker is just *chefs kiss*! Of all book boyfriends, he’s the one you won’t ever forget, I promise! And Nicole? Her journey to healing and self confidence is awe-inspiring! SWM is a beautifully written story of pulling yourself out of something awful and finding your happiness as well as learning who you really are. This has for sure become one of my comfort reads!
This book had so many great reviews that I couldn't wait to read it. I was so disappointed. I'm not against Insta love but this one gave me whiplash. Zoey was assaulted and raped by a fiance yet falls into bed within days of meeting Ryker. It felt rushed and there was little character development.
Lynn is a new to me author, so when I downloaded this, I was skeptical.
However, Ryker? Holy. Damn. Batman
Zoey is on the run from an abusive ex. It's a story we see a lot with different names, plot twists, outcomes, and well over all stories. So when she runs into the sheriff of the new town she deems to be her new starting ground, this can only go up from there.
RYKER is well, a dream. The twist in the book? Couldn't see THAT person being the person who did what they did.
I read this and loved every second of it. I needed a break from my current line up of TBR and this was wonderful. Gets all in your feels. Truly enjoyed this story. The FMC is a little hard headed but it all works out in the end.
So to have a man in uniform is right up my alley, plus give me that man full of tattoos…sold! This book was a emotional roller coaster in the best way. I felt so much pain MC and wanted her to find her way out and have a happy ending. Deciding to run and find a small town to call home was meant to be. Ripely is the perfect book boyfriend in my eyes. He fights and fights for MC the whole time basically. Even after pushing her away he still didn’t think something was right. His family was also a perfect book family you want in a series. This a small town romance and I love small town romances. The spice and temptation in this book was amazing. I was on my edge of my seat waiting when the spice would happen. When it did I loved it so much. The suspense of the fiancé tracking her down and making her go crazy with cat and mouse game made the book enjoyable to read. I would definitely recommend this book to others. The whole series actually. This book is also available in audiobook.
Well written, gritty and gives you all the feels. Zoey runs away from an abusive relationship to Wyoming. She meets Sherrif Ryker, their relationship is slow to develop as Zoey still has some trust issues to work through. Full of angst but delivers that happy ending.
Loved this book, couldn't put it down, it has everything you want, a bad guy, a sexy good guy, some mystery and heart ache mixed in with some naughty bits, but most importantly a happy ending. This a fabulous romance story everyone who is into romance must read.
This is such a beautifully written book that deals with domestic violence. Please read trigger warnings ⚠️ Lynn totally made you root for the main characters. I highly recommend this book.
