No one has ever won a battle against the Suanoan Empire...until now.
The cost was high. Sergeant Bennett is missing, among hundreds of others. Most fear them dead like the thousands already listed as Final Mission Complete. Atana refuses to give up without searching until she's certain. The battle with the Empire's Kyra Warships has left Earth's stratosphere cluttered with debris and bodies.
With Healer Paramor missing from the survivors' ship, Atana takes it upon herself to free the life-sparks of those lost to space. No one else can do it, not out in the void. Atana is no stranger to death, but this time it's different. The control over her anger wanes with every frozen life-form she touches.
The Universal Protectors have been nearly wiped out. New guardians are needed to be Earth's shield, to search for the missing, and to help the extraterrestrial survivors find a new planet to call home. The Primvera have resources and guides who can help with the process, but the trip is dangerous and laden with bounty hunters anxious for fresh goods.
Atana doesn't expect anyone else to have harnessed the spark-draining weapon or for space to be littered with Verros members eager to sell her to the highest bidder. An invasion fragments Atana's team, spreading them out across the galaxy. One thing is Atana knows it's time to stop playing defense and take the fight to the source. They must find a way to stop the spread of Suanoa for good…after she finds her team and Bennett.
This time, she's out for blood.
