This was okay for me. I like the cousin Calista’s story quite a bit so I figured I’d give the cousin a try. Jayne was….annoying. I get the Type A, does everything expected of her personality, but in the beginning she seemed like a judgy snob and but with a lot insecurities…I don’t know didn’t work for me. I liked Nick overall.
I think for me where this didn’t 100% work is the overall conflict. I think because this seems to have scenes and plots that spill over to other stories it made this one kind of underwhelming. There was Plan A and Plan B and I never quite understood it because the author tells us people believe but I never saw that. Neither of those plans actually did anything.
Give it a try, you might feel differently.

I have followed Ms. Stephens' Plain Jane series for a while and I have not read them in sequence as this is not necessary in order to enjoy the series. Wow!!! And, just wow!! To me, Plain Jane and Mr. Wright is the best book so far. I love how all the characters are intertwined and even though Emmet and Bailey are not physically in the story, we know that they are off handling business. Calista Coleman and Julius Morgan also pop up along the way. Jane is currently working in one of Julius' businesses and the entire extended "mob" family and associates are tense and on guard. Nick Wright is an underboss for Harden and he is tasked with making sure the members of Harden's (Jentry) family are safe in the face of the ensuing and ongoing "Mafia War". When he thwarts Jane's attempted kidnapping at a club, the pair is thrown together and sparks fly and sizzle. Straight-laced Jane is aware that Nick is involved with criminal elements but she can not stop her attraction to him. Ms. Stephens has created an endearing and hilarious relationship for us to "ship". Together they are snarky, vulnerable, funny and endlessly entertaining. I sincerely hope that Jane's two friends (Sheridan and Nevaeh) and Pavel, Leonid and Bruno are featured in the next Plain Jane stories! Pretty Please.

True love and other priorities
T'monique Stephens' latest iteration of the Syndicate crime boss who falls for the "plain Jane" is a supersexy romance - I had steam coming off my e-reader! - and a wild, action packed crime drama that wouldn't let me stop reading until I finished it. The love story is wonderfully authentic, as Jane the good-girl eldest daughter meets and falls for Nick, the bad-ass wealthy mob underboss whose undying loyalty is to his brothers in crime. Jane agonizes over her kick-over-the-traces new love, and her family's disapproval, and does he really love plain old goody-two-shoes her. Nick agonizes over who has dibs on his time and attention, and who deserves his ride or die loyalty, his Jane, or his job. There are lives on the line - more that just his or hers. There are no clear answers until betrayal, bullets, and babies force the issue. There's no fairytale HEA - the body-count and bruises preclude that. Instead, Ms. Stephens goes for the messy truth - there's joy in survival, freedom in choices, and yes, dammit, love DOES conquer all. I was offered an ARC of this book but I had already borrowed it from KU. My review is, as always, my honest and independent opinion.

I am absolutely loving this series! The characters keep you on your toes and the twists, turns, betrayals and passion keep you intrigued. This is the story if Jane and Nick Wright. Nick is a member of the Syndicate (an underboss) and gives off the bad boy vibes, but once you get to know him, he is not so much a bad boy as he is claims to be. Jane is a smart, over-achiever – she’s always been the “good” girl. Nick has known about Jane for a while as his group was responsible for watching over Jentry’s (Jane’s younger sister) family. From the moment Nick saw her picture, he knew that she was special. He was taken with her and when she was in danger, had to kidnap her from the kidnappers.
I loved the banter between the two characters and I loved how throughout the story Jane grew stronger and more confident and started trying to make things better for herself. Everyone thinks of our heroine as a good girl, and she was up until our hero stepped onto the scene. Now she has a new approach to life and she is going to grab onto it with both hands.
This is book six of the series, but it does amazingly well as a standalone. You will be missing some of the back story, but you will catch on to the essentials pretty quickly.
This is a wonderful blend of hard rocking action and romance. The story is very well written and includes plenty of action and intrigue to keep things interesting. The characters are also well developed and have a sense of realism to them that makes the story easy to read. They also have great chemistry that comes through in the fights as well as the steam. Overall, I found this one to be a page turner and I am looking forward to more from this author in the future.

Plain Jane and Mr. Wright is book number six in the Plain Jane series. Each book is connected but different. The characters throughout all of the books are fantastic. In this installment, we have Jane Playne and Nathan Wright. Jane is brilliant and very likable. She can hold her own until someone tries to kidnap her. Nathan to the rescue, he is the kind of bad boy hero type we all want in our life. He has been watching Jane for a while now and is intrigued. Once they get together, their chemistry is incredible and intense. It is nice to have characters not perfect but perfect together, making them believable and relatable. The storyline is action-packed and has some very toe-curling steamy moments. I could not put the book down.

This is the 6th book in the Plain Jane series and it features Nicholas and Jane's endearing story. Jane is the eldest daughter the good girl who meets Nick a mafia underboss during an attempted kidnapping. When Nick sees someone attempting to abduct Jane he jumps right in to save her. The two of them are thrown together and you can see the sparks fly Nick was already aware of who Jane was before he met her and he was really attracted to her. Jane is attracted to Nick even though he's involved with the mob and she's a straight arrow. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this entertaining story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Yikes! I can’t believe I kept this on my TBR so long. I LOVE THIS SERIES!
Jane Playne is a smart over achiever with self esteem issues. As the oops child she has consigned herself to being the good girl. She graduated early, went to college, now she is in a job she hates with her one and only boyfriend as a cheating ex.
Nicholas Wright is an interesting character. Total bad boy vibes without being an a**hole. He knew there was something special about Jane just from a photograph and when he saves her from a kidnapping plot the chemistry between the two is off the charts.
These two will lift each other up and make each other whole. I loved watching Jane grow into her own skin and watching Nick fall to his knees. Fabulous entry in this series.

I was never into reading mafia romance until I came across this plain Jane series, and now I’m hooked!
This authors writing is fantastic and the stories exciting and suspenseful with flawed alpha males finding that one woman who completes him and who he’ll love and protect at any cost. All the emotions are represented and tapped into keeping the reader flipping through the pages with fingers crossed that in between all the mafia action our lead couple finds a way to a happy ending.
I loved Jane and Nicolas’ story which was hot and passionate fast paced and immersive.

Jane is the good girl of the family. She never gets into trouble, until she does. Once she meets Nick she spirals out of control. There are so many moving parts to this story. There is so much mystery and intrigue and action and violence. It keeps you on your toes. I like Jane. She may be a pushover and the quiet one, but she wants to be a bad a&$ and she works toward that. I like Nick because he really does want to take care of her and his friends who are his family. You definitely have to pay attention.

Jane and Nicholas' story was well written, action packed with characters that were very well developed and a storyline that kept my interest from the beginning till the end. Both lead characters were perplexed at their instant attraction and at times fought their attraction. Jane grew more confident and had the support of Nicholas to help boost that confidence. Looking forward to reading more in this series and from this author.

Nick works protection for the Harden mob families and Jane is a sibling of a Harden spouse. Nick has seen her picture only until he finally meets her and sparks fly. One problem - she is kidnapped and he must get her back. The characters are well developed and grow in strength and confidence throughout the book. Plenty of drama, danger, secrets, betrayal, twists and much more keep you glued to the pages. Love their chemistry and banter. Nicely brought together at the end.

Nick and Jane's story is an intense one and I loved the way the author brought them together. The writing is well done, the characters are well developed and the story is packed with danger, drama, action, steam, unexpected twists, and a page turning story that held my attention from beginning to end. Plain Jane and Mr. Wright is book six and a great addition to the Plain Jane series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

The house in Montauk that the Playnes are staying at is fired upon, leaving Jane in the home alone, making Nick frantic as he looks for her. This story is full of action, romance, and steam, ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended.

Nick was attracted to Jane before they met, and when she's in trouble he steps in and kidnaps her for himself. Well written steamy possesive captive romance a great addition to the series though works as a standalone.

I love the growth of these characters. Jane and Nicholas are wonderfully written characters. The story is great and flows beautifully, I recommend reading this book.

This author is so great with this series. The one sister of the Playne family that was least likely to become involved with any of the men in the syndicate meets Nick Wright and their lives are never the same. She has an issue with her body image and lots of guilt. He is handsome and unaware. A one night stand while protecting her will change their lives. Violence, sex murder, kidnapping brings out their best and worst. I love these sisters and the men they love.
