Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Things get very strange, on Amanda's final year at the Academy of Necessary Magic.
All of the Seniors have been given tasks in each of their subjects, where they have to plan, research, and complete each task, which then needs to be put together, in order to pass their Finals.
Trouble is, Amanda is called away for a task that ends up lasting almost two months - but it's a task that will take her half way around the world, to confront a monster determined to shut down Magic all over Earth.
As if this isn't enough, Amanda spots one of the dark Wizards who had attacked, and killed, her Parents and Sister so, now, not only has she had to take on the task to save the World, but she also needs to do something to catch the murderer, to save her own sanity!
This was a great read, as usual, and I thoroughly enjoyed following Amanda in her tasks, for both the Coalition of Shifters, and her teachers at the Academy.
I was really enjoying the ending - but then it stopped, dead!
I'm really hoping that the cliff hanger I was left with, means that there will be MORE stories about Amanda waiting for me, among the couple of thousand books that I've bought, & am still buying, from the LMBPN Independent Publishing Company.
If not, it will be a cruel and unusual punishment, to leave things as they are right now!
So, now that I've finished this series, I checked my Oriceran Reading List, and the next book for me to read, is book one of a new-for-me series: 'Magic City Chronicles'.
The first book is called: 'A Defender Arises', and I'll be starting that later on today, after I get some sleep because, as usual, I've read through most of the night, once again!
So, once I've slept, I'll read this first book, then I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it!
Not sure if there’s another book after this but hope so. Cliff hangers are for tv. Wasn’t too happy about the relationship of Amanda and Matt just because I felt a little bad for Jackson. But what do I know, teenage resilience can be amazing. Did not quite understand the behavior of the coalition pertaining to Amanda and rather strange occurrences which is a failure for them because now she can find the culprit without him. The ending was a bit sad because I was so getting excited when I thought they were all going to be a team. Another disappointment.
The variety of magical creatures is astounding & more are coming forward... Can little wolf shifter Amanda, find the divergent species? It's her job @ the Canissphere as team leader to find & bring in these new species. This one was tough, & someone unexpectedly changes Amanda's focus, but only a bit.
Amanda's last semester of Bounty Hunter school & she's free to find her family's killers. What she discovers about her friends & family floors her.
Join in on the last school year journey Amanda will take. You won't be disappointed...
I am not going to lie, this book is so good, but I am sad because it is the end of this series. Amanda and her friends are in their senior year and working on their final projects. Amanda is also working her second job trying to track down an off the scales magical and sees an enemy she has been looking for for quite awhile. This book finished off the series very well and even though I am sad it ended I am looking forward to the next series by these authors, their books are always excellent.
Ok, so this particular episode gets 5 stars simply because it’s great, fast-paced fun coupled with excellent writing. HOWEVER, the ending leaves SO much to be desired, literally. By this I mean not a single reader with even a modicum of intelligence could finish this tale and not want to know what happens next.
So, while this is an EXCELLENT end to Amanda’s high school career, it most definitely better not be the end of her story, ot the authors may very well find angry mobs with pitchforks and torches in their future. Just sayin’….
I am always sad when one of my beloved series comes to an end. But if it had to end this is the way to do it! Good endings for the characters, the storyline, and the future for the "kids". Here's to hoping we see them all again in the future. I just love Martha's writing.
What this series was not, was a recreation of the School of Necessary Magic. The characters were full of grit and great humor. It got better with each book. And while Amanda and friends graduated and she saved magic, at least for now, the story is far from complete. I can not wait for the next series. Oh, and best of all one of the teachers has a surprising past.
Dwarf the bounty hunter is the true beginning of this series. Who wouldn’t love Rex and Luther? That one ended this summer with this one. These are books on the lighter side but I can’t believe how much I’m going to miss these characters. There is definitely room to continue stories with Amanda and friends. I hope they do.
Martha and Michael have created another winner in this series! The story has everything you will need to stay enthralled for hours. Young love, evil monsters, mean girls at school, unsympathetic teachers, good friends, and non-stop action. I can't wait to read the next one.
See, this storyline was all up in the air. Nothing specific happens, yes the world might end but oh been talked out of it. I mean come online. And omg betrayed by the commission but ooo they found my bad guy so let's go work for them. Not as good as the rest. All over the place.
The only problem is that book nine is not out yet. 😃. Otherwise this series is a super addictive read and once you start you want to keep going. The characters were getting mo and more detailed, the story was getting better and better and then I ran into the end of this book. Need the next one please. 😃😃. I definitely recommend this series.
Wow. I don't normally review books after the first in a series. As I figure you made this far you all ready know how good it and boy is it good. If you haven't already your really missing out.
It's not over!!!! There will be MORE!!! So freaking awesome!!! As always of course. Martha never fails to COMPLETELY impress!! Howard S (the S stands for Super Fan)
Really disappointed this is the end of the series. I’ve loved Amanda and her gangs trial and tribulations as they learned the bounty hunting business. Really sad there will not be a’ next one’
I highly recommend this fascinating book, and the imaginative series associated with it, to readers who love fast paced action, engaging characters, and intriguing plots. Enjoy!
Great story, very heart warming. Amanda having to deal with a creature intent on destroying all magic on earth. Amanda negotiated with the creature for a temporary stoppage. Matt and Amanda get together officially.
I loved the entire series, from beginning to end! However, you can't end it like that! There are too many things left unanswered. Like why was her family killed? Does she manage to change how people are using magic?
The eighth book in the Academy of Necessary Magic. Is one of the best Shifter books I have read. I'm really impatient to have the nineth book come out. So I can read it!
Love that each book can stand alone but all tie into the ultimate goal. I love that it is not a bodice ripper. And this is kids acting like kids should. Sarcastic sneaky and loveable
Brilliantly written series, thoroughly enjoyable if you don't mind reading about teenagers. Interesting characters, well developed funny at times, but has an interesting story as well. Each individual book was great
Definitely a fun read. Quite a few unusual twists and turns throughout the book. We're getting down to the nitty-gritty and it should be a interesting ride.
