Charlee x Chess

Hate to say it but this story was not it for me. I wanted to like Charlee, but she was too cowardly for me. That man verbally abused her constantly, yet she's begging him to give her more chances. Don't get me wrong. It was admirable that she wanted to fight for her marriage, but she really wasn't fighting for her marriage. It was obvious the man wanted out in the relationship and kept saying horrible things to her to get her to make the first move in leaving yet, all she was doing was asking for one more chances and begging a man who doesn't want her which was super crazy to me. It was like she had Stockholm Syndrome. Cause in my head how does it make sense for the things this man was saying to her for her to want to work it out and asking for more chances. Yes, she was in art therapy, but my friend needed a good couple one on one session with a license therapist. Her and Chess had good chemistry, however I felt like it wasn't developed well. The writing and the dialogue were super juvenile.
I have read other works by this author and thoroughly enjoyed them. This one just didn't do it for me.

Refreshing.....

Ms. Keys I really enjoyed this book. I have to admit the actions and verbal abuse from Dame was making me 😡. I wanted to give him some "act right." I knew the way he treated Charlie played a big factor in expanding the family. I was glad when Maia recommended therapy, art therapy at that. I have a love for art and that was what changed Charlie's life. Charlie meets Chess, he was the answers to almost all of her issues. He was most definitely a book Bae. He loved Charlie in her entirety while helping her heal. Chess persona was just refreshing he had a huge ❤️ that he used to spread kindness.

This was a great read. You will love how everything plays out in this book. Charlie went through a lot, but between her, Maia, and her profession, she conquered all of her obstacles. Chess was her blessing, but she was his as well. I highly recommend this book, you will fall in love with the strength Charlie gains as she heals.

This was my second third person that I generally liked. Like this book was really good at first I though that the main mc was weak but then I really got into it and found out why she was so head over heels for him (ps the old hubby was a lil bitch) chess was really my favorite I loved how Straight forward he was and how he really didn’t take no crap. I love how she stood up for herself and her man at the end of the story (as she should)

All smiles 😊This was an emotional and heartbreaking story. Even the helpers need help sometimes and that’s exactly Charles needed. I wasn’t sure about Chess at first but he was exactly what the doctor ordered. Dame an Angel were horrible people. I’m so happy she had a Maia in her life and found her happy ending. Really good read!

What A Read

I thoroughly enjoyed the way each character was written even if I wanted to punch some of them. The way the art classes were described felt as if I was there. Not only was the dialogue and character development great, but I was pulled into the art therapy world.

AMAZING READ!!

My heart broke for Charlee her ex-husband Dame was completely trash and I have zero words for her sister. Charlee was so strong because what she went through the average person would have folded. I love that Maia was able to be the friend she needed to point her in the direction to find her strength and so much more. Here comes Chess to save the say and be the blessing he didn’t know he was and find the woman he didn’t know he needed. Two broken souls finding the therapy of healing and love plus so much more. I loved this freaking story from beginning to end. I’m not new to Ashanti’s so I could depend on a fire read! Definitely excited about what’s next

This Ain’t It

The cover art captured my attention. Then I saw so many good reviews. I feel totally misled. The concept of the book was cool, but the writing is very weak. The whole time, I kept feeling like the story was missing something. I’m not sure what it is, but it just feels underdeveloped. It came off like a rough draft. The men in the book were so abrasive. Even the good guy came off as a jerk several times. This book was just a big disappointment for me. Thankfully, it’s a short read so I didn’t waste much time on it.

Ashantay did it again! Was I ready to fight her husband? Hell yea! Did I want shake the hell outta Charlee? You know it! But when you get into the wheres and whys of it all I wanted to give her a hug. Now Chess...the first day in class...he said I'm not one to played with. Can you say Swoon? I lpve the way he handled her and allowed himself to open up to her. I could go on and on...it's already on my list to be read again. Great Job!!

Pleasantly surprised!

It has been a long time since I’ve made it through an entire story that has limited sex scenes and still enjoyed it! This is my first time reading from this author but definitely not the last! The plot was one of the best I’ve read in years! I loved the complexity of Charlee’s and Chess’ personality! Please read! You will thoroughly enjoy it!

Super Cuuuute ❤❤❤

Chess was everything!!! Book Bae for sure. Dame was trash. Ashantay wrote him to perfection!! I enjoyed watching Charlee and Chess fall in love. And was so glad when Charlee started to change. I need Maia to find love. She definitely deserves it. Quick, fun read that will make you mad and happy.

GOOD READ

I really enjoyed this book but I hated Dame. His verbal abuse towards Charlee made me want to put my hands on him myself. All Charlee wanted was to finally have the love she never received as a child. She definitely didn't need Dame or her snake of a sister Angel in her life. Meeting Chess was the best thing to happen to her. Although they were both dealing with issues, they were perfect in helping each other heal at the same time. I loved how their healing allowed them to form a loving relationship creating a blessing they both longed for. Beautiful ending.

Yaass Ashantay! Girl, you had me all in my feelings this entire read! I went from anger, to sadness, to empathy and then smiling and cheering! I wanted to take Dame out myself after the first page! I mean damn! He was just evil and for what?? Miss Angel, tuh! That heifer was the damn devil! 😠 Charlee, was just the sweetest person, who cared so much for everyone else; but not enough for herself! She was a brilliant therapist able to help her clients, but is holding on to so many insecurities from her childhood, that is keeping her from finding happiness! Chess! A self-made man who used his talents to uplift and help heal others. Although he had gone through a devastating heartbreak, he used his love of art as therapy, and found that it could be beneficial to others as well. When Charlee walked into his classroom, he was instantly smitten. Could the he let someone get close again, he wonders? Charlee is equally attracted to him, however, she is still in her head about all that she is going through with Dame. I love how kind, supportive, caring, but yet firm Chess was with Charlee. He is a man who is about his business, but will not allow anyone to talk to him crazy. He had to boss up on Charlee a few times, and I was like, that is sexy as hell! 😂 It was so sweet to see them both slowly start to grow feelings for the other, while still being cautious due to their past experiences. I loved that scene in the courthouse, where Charlee and Chess revealed their news, leaving Dame stuck!
😆 This was such a beautiful read, that I did not want to end! Great job! 👍👍👍

Love under new management...

Charlee was in a marriage where all her husband's wanted her to do is get pregnant and become a housewife, but thats not what Charlee want. When she couldn't get pregnant, her husband put her out. Not dealing with the stress of her marriage, her friend suggests she take an art class. Meeting Chess, the art teacher, Charlee had feelings that she didn't know existed anymore. When Chess first laid eyes on Charlee, he wanted her, but he knew he had to be patient with her. When Charlee decided to give Chess a chance, it was what she needed. Charlee drove me crazy in this book, I was yelling and rolling my eyes, wondering when she was going to get through her head to leave her husband. Thank goodness for her friend Maia because her sister was some shit. Chess was a breath of fresh air, he had his issues as well and he knew how to help Charlee. I loved Chess for Charlee, he made her confront her demons and showed her how a man is supposed to love a woman. This was a great story about finding your way after being hurt so much throughout your life. Excellent read!!!

It was a hard read that wrapped up nicely

Let's just say I severely disliked Dame and all the things he put Charlee through. He was a horrible man. Then there was Chess, Mr. Knight if you are nasty...LOL. Chess was so tender towards Charlee and the blossoming of their love affair as they were both healing in their own way was a beautiful sight to behold. It took me a while to read this book because Dame was the absolute worst, the worst villain I read in quite awhile. The author delivered in this heartbreaking and heartfelt read. I would love an update on this book, definitely an update on Chess and Charlee. Great yet emotional read.

Enjoyable and emotional

How many times did I yell reading this book? Lots. Cried several times as well. That to me is the key to a great read. How did it make me feel. The feelings of worthlessness, sadness, and Loneliness are universal feelings we all feel. Charlee and Chess really warmed my heart. I so wanted to see Charlee come through the other side. I really enjoyed everything about this story.

Loved it!

First of all let me make it clear how much I HATED Dame like ugh I really wanted to hop between the pages and punch him. He didn’t deserve Charlie and I hope that other one cheats on him with a basketball player. Now Mr.Knight was EVERYTHING. I just loved him he was exactly what Charlee needed and he did not fumble at all. With each release Ashantay’s growth as an author is so evident. She really is amazing with the romance. I’m ready for the next one!

Whew child!

I got upset at the very beginning of this book. The verbal abuse that Dame constantly threw out was absolutely horrible. I like the way that Ashantay Keys wrote this story. The character development of Charlee was awesome. Angel and Dame were complete idiots. Maia was the type of friend that we all need. Chess and Charlee found happiness and worth in each other. Definitely a book worth reading.

This was so cute

I have been meaning to try out this author and I am glad that I gave this book a chance. I thoroughly enjoyed their relationship and oh how, works. Her ex-husband was a piece of crap and that day on sister of hers was terrible. Now I had to go back and read the rest of her catalog great job!

Chess and Charlee 🔥

Wow, Ashantay did her thing with this one! All To Me reflects on the baggage we carry from toxic situations and relationships into our everyday lives, and how taking steps to heal can bring you the love you deserve.

Both from such damaged circumstances, Chess and Charlee took a chance on each other. Highly recommend!

I loved Chess and Charlee!

Charlee did not deserve how she was treated by the very people that should have loved on her without question. I'm so glad that she experienced something/someone greater.

This quote "two lonely people together is a recipe for utopia” struck a cord with me when it came to both Chess and Charlee. I believe they offered one another an intimacy that transformed their lives from a feeling of loneliness to a feeling of abundance to love without limits.

This was my first time reading this author's work and I enjoyed it very much.

Wow

The husband was a hot mess. And what Charlee had to endure at the hands of her “family” was horrible. This is a book about discovering who she is and allowing someone to speak life into her. And please point me in the direction of where the men like Chess are hiding out!

The best was yet to come

Charlee fought hard for a love that didn’t make her feel whole all the while, the best man for her was just around the corner from her devastating breakup. I loved the epilogue 😍. Team Charlee&&Chess 🎨💚
