In a society plagued by overpopulation, Mission Utopia became the world's only hope. The government program formed in an attempt to redistribute and relieve parts of the community. Every year, a certain number of newborns are branded so that when they come of age, they can leave their depleted home and start their lives in paradise.

Wherever that may be.

Echo has always wanted nothing more than to be branded. Knowing that she never will be, she resorts to heisting with her classmates in hopes of finding her purpose. It is only when one of Echo's close friends comes to her with a secret plan to break the system and sneak into Mission Utopia that everything changes. These plans of escape come with a price, however. Echo discovers a part of her that she never knew existed, and she soon realizes that paradise may not be as it seems.

Branded by Rayne Polkowski is one of THE BEST Science Fiction/ Dystopian books I’ve ever read. I’m not usually a huge reader of this genre, but Branded has changed the game for me. The story features many heart-racing adventures and follows unique characters that will make you want to come back for more. The emotions in this book are so real! I felt exactly what the characters were feeling, and that is not an easy feat as a writer. Polkowski has done an amazing job within her writing to include the reader and delve into Echo’s world. Echo’s ambitious and determined personality draws the reader into longing for the same things that Echo does. With some insane, heart wrenching, and unexpected plot turns, Branded will leave every reader on-edge and surprised. The world of Arakahn that the author paints is full of deep mystery, twists and turns, quirky friendships and vivid detail. We join main character, Echo, on her journey through overwhelming odds, and learn early on that she’s a strong character - confident yet vulnerable, deeply introspective and has just the right dash of superhero. I found this to be a genuinely absorbing story! A page turner!
