New Year's with a Dragon

Rate this book
She’s a librarian with a stalker intent on killing her. He’s a dragon shifter willing to do anything to save her. This New Year’s, will love conquer all or will danger stand its way?

Adara Hayes lives a boring, normal life working at the Crescent Creek Library. However, when she’s attacked, her life suddenly becomes more lively, and not in a good way. She never expected to spend New Year’s with a psycho after her. She also didn’t expect to meet a heartthrob intent on protecting her at every turn, either.

Dusty Steele loves helping people. It’s one of the reasons he became a firefighter. But when a woman needing aid runs in front of his truck, his dragon knows there’s a stronger pull to her than his mundane desire to help.

While the two struggle to figure out why someone would want Adara dead, the attraction between them blazes bright. Will it be a distraction that costs them their lives, though?

New Year’s With A Dragon is a standalone New Year’s story set in the larger Paranormals of Crescent Creek world. If you enjoy reading about small towns with quirky characters and shifter romance stories with Fated Mates and Happily Ever After endings, you’ll love these books!

I mean the writing was good, and the premise had potential but the MCs were so dumb and the sex scene was one short paragraph.

I'm not a genius but I saw all those plot twists coming. It was so obvious.

Even better than the first! I loved Dusty and Adara's story. It was the perfect blend of action and romance, and I devoured it in one sitting. Crescent Creek is such a fun place to be for the holidays.

You know what I love and respect about this author? The women she writes are knowledgeable, competent and they do exactly what you, the reader, would do in any given situation.

Anyways, dragon shifter firefighter… hot. 🔥

What a terrific story. A beautiful librarian. A very handsome firefighter. Dragons. Magic. A stalker with the intention to kill. A cabin in the woods. And, of course, love.

For those looking for a safe, middle-of-the-road paranormal romance, y'all have come to the right place.

I would love to give this book higher praise, since it definitely had potential, but the story itself was just alright. Unfortunately, the mystery of Adara's stalker was more compelling to me than the romance, though I figured out before even the halfway mark what his intent was all along and I was just waiting for the protagonists to catch up. And speaking of the protagonists, Dusty seemed like a nice guy and all, but he was way too optimistic for my taste (plus, it was hard to swoon over a guy who shares a name with my cat). Adara had the personality of toast, though she accepted the existence of supernatural beings far too easily. She and Dusty were alright as a couple, just a bit too much on the sweet side even for me. Also, the one love scene readers got wasn't that in-depth nor was it anything to write home about.

But hey, at least, it was a nice palate cleanser after Leslie Meier's Mistletoe Murder. So, there's that.

Overall Verdict: 6 New Year's dragons out of 10

Adara is a librarian, living a pretty quiet life. When a stranger begins to stalk Adara, chasing her through the woods and talking about destiny, she has no idea how much her life is about to change. Dusty is a firefighter, which makes sense since he’s a dragon shifter. When he almost runs over a woman who comes darting out of the woods, he feels an instant connection and a need to protect her. With someone stalking and attacking her, Dusty is determined to protect Adara while the two of them try and figure out who could be the one behind the attacks, the connection between them begins to spark. Will she survive long enough for the two of them to find their happily ever after? Or will she not live to see the new year?

This was short and sweet with a slightly spicy scene. But it mostly focused on the action as Adara is stalked and attacked by the mysterious stranger. I enjoyed this and found it to be cute. I kind of wish it was a little spicier. There was definitely some insta-love going on, but it’s also fated mates so I’m willing to excuse it. I liked Dusty and Adara, but I just wanted more development for their characters, especially with the whole supernatural/paranormal plot.

This the second book in this series. I haven’t read the first one but didn’t feel confused at all. This is the first book by Jennifer I have read. I really enjoyed it. It was a quick read, less than 90 pages. Adara lives a normal boring life. She is a librarian. Then one night everything changes. A man shows up while she is closing the library and seems to want to harm her. Dusty is a firefighter. When he spots Adara after she runs into the road, he doesn’t think twice about helping her. His dragon knows right away she means something more to him. When it seems that the attack isn’t a one off they need to figure out a way to protect Adara and why this person wants her. This book was a great read. Adara whole life is about to change. She has a secret she didn’t know she had. I have added the first book to my TBR list. I look forward to reading more books by Jennifer in the future. Great job Jennifer.

New Year's With A Dragon takes place over the course of about a day. It was a quick, fun read. The two main characters are really cute together. My one wish for a change below as a slight Spoiler.

Book contains: instalove, protector romance, explicit sex, stalker with intent to stabby stab to death, hidden supernatural world living along humans, dragon shifter, fated mates, orphaned heroine raised in foster care system, no angst, no cheating, no cliffhanger, standalone in an interconnected series.

Slight spoilers: I wish things with the stalker turned out differently. I hope the cycle doesn't have to continue in the same stalkery way for the future.

A Fantastic five-star read that welcomes the new year and new love. Adara is just someone we met in the first story, and I was so eager to hear more from, she really wowed me. This time around I am scared on her behalf, but then you meet Dusty, and he will just make you swoon. This will make you stop, and it will make your heart grow, this once again shows us what a great author we have here and what a wonderful world they create.

cute short story

Loved the story. Adara is a librarian who is being stalked by an attacker. Dusty is the guy who happens upon her and helps. They are so adorable. And have instant chemistry. When he helps her figure out what is going on and reveal what he is their connection combusts. Love the story. And can finally guess that Ivy was her missing cat. Since I didn’t read the previous book. Can’t wait for more.

Fiery Hot New Years Eve

This story was a fun insta-love between Adara & Dusty. She has been attacked & his instinct is to protect her, his dragon feels the same. Why is this strange man after her, saying it is her destiny to die? She quickly learns that not all is as it seems, the supernatural world is real. Can Dusty keep her safe, or is it really her destiny to die? If so, why? This book has a simmering heat, slightly spicy & so sweet! Enjoy

New Year's With a Dragon by Jennifer Snyder

*Holiday Romance Book 2 *

Although this supernatural romance can be read standalone I went straight to this after finishing book 1 as I loved the writing and way I got absorbed in it.

Featuring Mythical Creatures this one has plenty of suspense as Adara is being stalked by a mysterious man and turns to Firefighter Dusty to help her.

Under 100 pages but well worth the read.

This is a great New Year's Eve read. Couldn't wait to find out who the guy with the gold dagger was. Made you wait until just about the very end of the story to get the answer. I never would have guessed correctly for there were no hints that gave it away. Glad that love wins in the end, as any good romance should.

Dusty rescued Adara twice in one night then kept her

Figherfighter Dusty is a Dragon shifter who helped Adara report a stalker/intruder. She had a fire in her apartment so he naturally invited her to his home. Dusty made her feel safe and cared for. Adara wasn't frightened when he let the word mate slip out. HEA with a twist!.

Always A Treat

I do enjoy this author. I like to consume books in one sitting so shorter books that are loaded with character and plot development, including unique plot twists make my day...and leave me time to be a responsible person too!
Content: There is a spicy scene, but it is not detailed out, and fades out nicely so it does not take away from the excellent story.

I really enjoyed this story. Alpha male who immediately recognizes his mate and does everything he can to take care of her . Strong female character who fights back and recognizes he is someone that she can lean on but still be herself. Well written and intriguing. I wanted to finish it and know why things were happening! I will read more by this author.

Amazing

For a short story this one was pretty damn good. I've never read much about the Phoenix and you don't see them in too many paranormal romance books. And I loved that you mated her up to a dragon. Can't wait to read more of your books Jennifer!

😁😁😁💜

I have been binging on the Crescent Pack and Holiday Romance series. They are short, quick read novellas, but still full stories. Sometimes, I just need to read stories like this rather than the longer books!

To the point

Ok the vampire story was more detailed. Not going to give up anything. I get kind of frustrated when people talk about type o... but it was quite a few none sentences in this book. Got right to the point kind of. Wish it was more of a back story too.

New Year's With A Dragon

If her father had just explained to her who she was then she wouldn't have been so scared, maybe, or things would have went down differently. Plus side is she found her mate and was introduced to the world of supes at the same time.
