(3) Don’t even ask why i’m reading this as a teen but me and my friend had a race to see who could finish it first and we finished it at the same time. For a kid, this is a great book to read cause it would be enjoyable. These books were a big part of my childhood. As a teen it is definitely not as good to read because the writing style and everything is meant for kids. Solid 3 stars for the book.

The Magical Animal Fairies are the 11th series and represents different qualities in life, like humour and compassion. These magical animals are babies and still in training so sometimes they over-do their quality (or cause the opposite).

There are seven Magical Animal fairies and they are: Ashley the Dragon Fairy, Lara the Black Cat Fairy, Erin the Firebird Fairy, Rihanna the Seahorse Fairy, Sophia the Snow Swan Fairy, Leona the Unicorn Fairy and Caitlin the Ice Bear Fairy.

Despite the endless patience of the girls' parents in supporting their school holiday friendship, it's nice to see them get away for a change. This series is set at Adventure Camp which means we get to explore everything from Moonbows, to stalactites, to bird-watching towers. We liked the tunnels/waterfall best as a location and the funny joke inspiring firebird best from the animals.

There are seven special animals,
Who live in Fairyland.
They use their magic powers,
To help others where they can.
A dragon, black cat, firebird,
A seahorse and snow swan, too.
A unicorn and ice bear -
I know just what to do.
I'll lock them in my castle,
And never let them out.
The world will turn more miserable,
Of that, I have no doubt.

Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic.
Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies.
On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon!
If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!

This is a disturbingly alarming book that I would not recommend any youngster reading. These girls are obviously schizophrenic who are making all this up. How in the world is imagination tied to dragons? And this idea that your imagination is tied to a mystical object is incredibly damaging to the self esteem of little girls, they should know that imagination comes from within.. AND NOT from a baby dragon called Sizzle (what a dumb name). The overuse of certain words/phrases such as "cries/cried" emphasizes the limited vocabulary Meadows possesses. If you want your kid to read REAL literature make them read Diary of the Wimpy Kid or Dork Diaries.

this would really make me excited to read if i was still a kid. this is 1 and the last of the 7 (?) rainbow magic books i’ve read this year, as a 17 year old. i just had to get the books because i only had 2 or 3 when i was younger.

what i liked about the story is that they were in a different place - camping! they were always at their hometowns, and that this is one of the stories i’ve read where they were brought to Fairyland.

It’s about two girls named Kirsty and Rachel helping Ashley. Ashley is a fairy who loves dragons and has one for a pet, but Jack Frost stole the magic animals in Fairyland. My favorite part is when Ashley got her dragon back, because it was a very happy ending.

the Seven Magical Animals were captured by Jack Frost, but they manage to escape to the human world just in time! Can Rachel & Kirsty help Ashley find her young dragon, Sizzle, before the goblins catch up with him ...?

I have never read the Magical Animal Fairies series, so this was a fun experience for me! I think having each magical animal be responsible for spreading a different sort of quality among humans and fairies alike is a really cool concept and I think the teacher in me really came out like ‘oh my god, this series is perfect to teach kids about character attributes’. The school board has monthly attribute themes that they want teachers to go over with kids, like compassion and courage, so that was definitely the first place that my mind went.

(I am curious though if every spring, each very getting a new animal to train means, for example, Ashley training a new dragon, or if they train a different animal entirely.)

Let's talk about Ashley's design - I love her outfit so much, especially the cargo jeans with the dragon going up the leg! I also think that it was really cool idea to have her emit smoke from her wand rather than fire like you'd expect, it was something different and unexpected so props to the book for that little detail. Also, Sizzle is the world's cutest dragon and making him green was the best decision ever (Green as Ashley's motif was a good idea in general!).

I also think that after seeing literal squiggles for hair in the past few books I've read, I was floored by the amount of detail in the art. The girls look absolutely adorable in this book! Especially Kirsty - I loved her outfit and I think her braids with the little headband are super cute. (Honestly, the girls’ cabin mates look like extras off Bratz.)

Another thing I forgot about Rainbow Magic books was that in their regular series, they would always have each of the seven fairies' symbol above a rainbow at the beginning of each chapter. I've been reading Special Edition books, so this was a welcome reminder. Also, am I just old or is this the first time the king and queen have been the ones to summon the girls rather than one of the fairies finding them?

Other Details I Wanted To Point Out:
-Seems like Jack Frost is learning a truly valuable lesson about karma because these magical animals are literally torturing him, it was so funny! And honestly well-deserved because there is no reasoning behind him being choosing to be a menace this time, he’s just a miserable little shit.
-I just love when the girls are in locations other than their respective towns - an adventure camp is the perfect setting for this series! I would've been terrified to go exploring a cave by myself when I was little, but it seems like a cool idea for the book.
-Okay, maybe I'm an idiot for even asking this question, but does Jack Frost like, hire new goblins for every book? Because even then, it is ridiculous for them to never be able to recognize Kirsty and Rachel. Anyway, shoutout to the illustration on pg. 43 of the shadow of one of the goblins because that was genuinely the most menacing they’ve ever looked.
-I did NOT have Kristy and Rachel traumatizing young goblins into giving up and running home on my 2022 bingo board.

This is the first book in The Magical Animals Fairies series by the group of authors who go by the name Daisy Meadows. Our oldest and I have read most of the books in the various Rainbow Magic series and our youngest is just beginning to discover them now. This is a new series for all of us, so we are all taking turns reading these seven books independently.

As the series grows and grows, I'm pretty impressed that these authors can find new material. The plots are formulaic, but the various creatures are always new and different. I used to loathe these books, but they are quick reads and they helped to cultivate a love of reading within our girls and for that, I am grateful.

Two girls go exploring, have fairy friends. Nothing amazing happened, and I don't think there's really anything to be learned in these books. However, there are a ton of them, and easy reads for young readers.

The magical animals are missing. Each one controls a different type of power, like luck and imagination. In this book, Rachel and Kristy help Ashley find her dragon Sizzle. Ashley taught the dragon to look after the magic of imagination.
