Shifter U #1

Class Roar: Harem Fantasy For Men

Rate this book
Keep my head down, get good grades, and become a shifting demi-lion while fiercely protecting my pack of gorgeous monster girls from the vicious diurnal faction. What was the first thing again?

Something primal is lurking under the belly of Green Valley University, but there’s no way for Evan to know that.
All he’s worried about is trying to study while sitting next to a redheaded beauty. Her skintight jeans and ungodly low-cut crop-top are making it impossible to focus.

But the feeling is mutual. She won't stop watching him, and he’ll soon find out that she needs more than just to be bedded. After class, Ali reveals her animalistic nature, and Evan’s picture-perfect college world is about to come undone.
And it’s not just her. She’s got roommates. There’s the tall, fluffy-eared brunette with glowing amber eyes and impossibly long legs. There’s also the petite, skittish blonde with a perfect bubble behind and an equally-perfect tail—and this one might act like she's scared of Evan, but the wagging suggests otherwise.

Evan quit firefighting to get a master’s degree, but now he has to fight the fire inside of him—as the lion inside awakens with a roar. He’d do unspeakable things to protect the girls from the other demi-humans—the ones that hunt at night for his pack and their sacred artifact.

But the diurnal faction never accounted for Evan.

Something has happened to him. It’s not just his heightened senses. He can feel it in his body. Turning. Changing. Gnawing to get out.

There’s a beast inside of him, and it doesn't care about grades.

I should have believed the reviews from other people, the cover art got me though. I wasn't expecting greatness but this was soo bad. A failure in every aspect. The characters were terrible. The MC had a BS in molecular biology and then became a firefighter because he really wanted to help people. He now is back to get a masters in molecular biology or whatever because it will let him help even more people? What kind of set up is that? The story went nowhere. A whole lot of words without saying anything. This will give you an idea: " I can explain", " okay go ahead", "It's not what you think", " Okay explain it to me", " It really isn't that bad", " okay, just tell me". " I really can explain", " Then do it". "It's really not what you think". After 2 hours of listening to the audiobook we still hadn't got an explanation for anything.

Everyone talks but noone says ANYTHING!!!!! It's all 'you wont understand' you dont get it and i wish i could tell you etc... it's infuriating. then i made it to 74% just hoping it'd get better or I'd figure out who the enemy was or what he was or his role or really anything and then at 74% a harem member leaves a car outside and walks into literally enemy territory. then the mc gets knocked out trying to protect her and I quit. I dont even know if he'll wake back up and frankly i hope he doesnt.

DON’T READ!

This book is straight up awful. Author makes the MC try talking to the people that are trying to kill the so called girls he’s supposed to be protecting. You’re fucking writing about beings that aren’t human. Don’t add normal morals that apply to regular people when your MC and everyone else are ANIMAL shifters. Total fail.

Where di I start? one of the best reviews of this book I read sums up one of the worst parts of this books well. Everyone has paragraph upon paragraph of dialog without moving conversations in ANY direction. This book has horrible dialog, barely likable characters, sex scenes that lack fun. The MC makes choices that don't make sense. At one point, the MC decides he will face a deadly situation. He can do something that will make him far more powerful, by doing the thing that powers up MC's in haremlit books everywhere, but NO, I wont do that till I solve the problem without powering up.....what? Not to mention, he literally decides to face "monsters" that he claims he is faster and stronger than (though he is human) and he says something like "leave us alone or else". Spoiler alert, they don't leave him and his girls alone, so he goes back and says something like "leave us alone or else". The Monsters literally need to force him to act. This story feels like its forced to move forward to the end instead of being driven forward. It was one of the hardest books for me to finish.

Meh, wasted time

So, I wonder why does this book even exist and why asslickers give it such a good review. Maybe payed or friends of the author? There is more story in the blurb than there is in the whole book. Blurb says something about demi-lion, guess what? There is nothing said about this in whole book. Some diurnal faction? Just bunch of kids. Action? Well one or two fist fights and that's it. Oh, yeah, also 3 lame/weird sex scenes, that will not get your blood boiling, and I'm fan of this stuff. But here? It was just waste of pages.

Guess I'll just read blurb of the next book to save money for something that is worth it. At least for this book the blurb was the same as reading it whole.

Mary sue meets terrible villain and plot

Author just wanted to create a Mary sue that was good looking athletic and of course the women just instantly fall for him. Why worry about plot when you can just have everything work out even when he loses a fight Also he described one of the women's scent as dirty but clean. Jesus.

An interesting idea that is not fleshed out at all. Multiple aspects of the story don't have even the slightest explanation and some are forgotten about.

Edit- Not Recomended ;Pretty good. Not perfect.

I liked it. It had some originality that many of this genre often don't have. I honestly enjoyed. Not tremendously but enough to hartily recomend it to fans of the genre.

At certain points the logistics don't make sense. Admitedly many of them can be settled with just a little thought. This doesn't quite connect for a particular attack that was supposed to have happened in a bathroom. Another can be simply attributed to the MC being to impetuous and short sighted to let HIS OWN PLAN distract him. He knew this event was coming and it STILL distracted him. Quite human I know but still a little frustrating.

The typos were definitely present but I was able to work around them. All in all a fun read.

A good first attempt at a novel.

Overall I like the story idea and theme. The author still needs a bit of editing work and needs to describe some details on the characters. Such as describing what animal they are. All I know is that one is a fox and one is a panther. I do not know what the other girl is, only That she has horns. He needs to do a better job describing certain facts of the story. However, it’s still a good book. I hope to see his writing style in the next book, but I hope he can get a better proofreader.

Strange yet interesting read.

An unusual and interesting read blending urban fantasy on college campus with Demi-Humans commonly found in fantasy.

It's definitely an interesting read, but I did find certain aspects of the story felt rushed and in some cases explanations given by characters were lacking.

The main antagonists (not villains) of the book were interesting, but felt like it wasn't building to anything bigger.

But I am willing to give the second novel a go as the characters themselves are fun and entertaining.

Poor Execution

Decent concept. Harem lit requires suspension of disbelief. However, the characters interactions are poor. They seem drawn out to increase verbage. The fight sequences are unrealistic in their progression. I finished the book mostly because it was short. Characters are poorly fleshed out. Really, 3 stars is charitable. Text should be tightened and interactions more realistic.

Evan and his girls.

I understand that I'm not the primary demographic. When I saw this on Booksprout, not gonna lie I thought why is it for men. I know understand lol. Some of the dialog felt cringey to me, but other wise a good story. I liked the conflict and the paranormal theme. It makes me a little sad the women didn't have different body types or ethnicities. But over all good listen/read.

Harem in the Making/ Newest Alpha on Campus

As most harem readers know how book 1 starts: New guy meets sexy girl, new guy starts to get a power he doesn't understand, an evil no do-gooder threatens girls, new guy kicks ass, and lastly our new hero has sex with his harem. So, yep that happens here too.
Was a basic fun read with some sex thrown in.

Good Start!

I was intrigued at first because I like these stories taking place in college. It was overall really good and I hope for more. Beware, there were some editing issues, so if you can’t handle that, you have been warned!

Ok for first book

It was ok but it needs work. I thought the pace of the story was too fast. And it also didn't go into much detail about the the characters back story. I won't rank it lower because I'm not a jerk but it needs work

An interesting start

The story is very fast-paced. Its not anything earth shattering but its a well written monster girl harem story. For the first book by author it shows promise.

Generic

An ABC harem story, the author doesn't bother to provide any background on when or where this story takes place. The MC is your generic savior again with no background, nothing to connect you with besides the desire for your own harem

Kept Me Reading

I was looking for a series similar to An Orc At College by Liam Lawson and i stumbled across this little gem. I couldn’t put it down until I finished the first book and now I’m about to start the second book. Can’t wait for more of their story.

This story didn’t make to much sense to me.
Listed as a male rh fantasy. I would list it as a male rh erotica.

Storyline is secondary. The steam is good.
Narrator is ok, he does both female and male voices.

why did read it?

The story build was trashy in just makes all the enemies seem like crazed ego gangestes that just couldn’t take them seriously. Also the way the harem was built really you really gotta work on building chacther dynamics that seem legit.

sexually and fantastically wild

I was not sure what I would find in this novel. Though found a great plot, a wonderful description of characters, and a wild and sensually stimulating world. Fantastic!!!

Fun new world.

This story is well crafted. There are a few editing mistakes but nothing that detracts from the storyline. The characters are lifelike and engrossing and endearing.

Great fun

I really enjoyed this book, I personally am not a fan of the male and female rough language sexually but I still liked it. It's very well written, I am looking forward to reading the next one.
