Frankie is obsessed with all things paranormal. So when folks in her small town report seeing a large, flying man with red eyes, she suspects a Mothman is on the prowl. While legends say this creepy cryptid is a sign of ill things to come, Frankie isn’t buying it. And to prove she’s right, the young sleuth enlists the help of her best friend, Ruby, to track down the elusive creature. But can they handle the terrifying truth when they finally come face to face with the monster in the moonlight?

Megan Atwood lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she teaches creative writing at a local college and the Loft Literary Center. She has an M.F.A. in writing for children and young adults and was a 2009 Artist Initiative grant recipient through the Minnesota State Arts Board. She has been published in literary and academic journals and has the best cat that has ever lived.

Whimsical and intriguing

No way! Never saw that coming! What a great twist on an otherwise simple, spooky story based on the Mothman legend. I am fascinated by the Mothman stories, so this was an easy choice. Historical folklore, geography, friendship, family, mystery, ciphers -- this little book touches on it all.

This was a fun, short read (purely for entertainment) written for kiddos around 9 years old with good reading skills. Give different a try.

Loved the art and the story was a ton of fun! Great horror graphic novel to introduce kids to the super cool cryptid, Mothman.
