This was a good book about sisters coming together during tragedy and pledging to rebuild their relationship with each other. I loved how the authors chose to focus on each sister individually and then bring them together as they seek comfort and encouragement. They each had their moments of heartache but it only made them stronger and more determined to proceed in a different way. And through it all, they found some incredible men who had their backs 100%. So out with the old ways of living and in with new sister bonds, careers, relationships and precious blessings on the way. Great job to the authors on this amazing collaboration.
This book had a wonderful storyline. I love the sisterhood and all the highs and lows with love these sisters endured. However, it felt very repetitive. They all met men at the same time and would go through conflict at the same time. It felt like I was reading the same story four different times with a few different details. This story would’ve benefitted from being a series and everything not being on the same accord. It would be great. I could really see a sex in the city vibe going on. It just felt so rushed that I couldn’t connect with the characters since there were so many in such a short time.
This book was cute but short. It was about sisterhood and second chances. With four main characters with their own POV, the book moved very fast so the small details that endear you to a couple were missed because it was on to the next characters. It was kind of transactional, boy meets girl, they kiss, they date, they’re in love. It needed to be fleshed out. Even though Korrin just wanted to get it over with, she should’ve taken Charles to the cleaners. Andrew literally did nothing for this romance to occur. Roxi didn’t need closure from that man. Cia rubbed me the wrong way. It’s also weird that none of the sister showed up to the grand opening of the restaurant. I loved that it was the women who had to do the making up.
They just needed to point out which sisters shared the same mother because it was clear they all shared the same father.
The title and cover pulled me into this book and I am so thankful for it showing up on my feed when it did.
This is a tale of four sisters linked by one dad and two mothers. Their entire lives they have been separate and unable to bond due to the issues between their parents. The loss of their father hits them at a point when they all are battling their own trails and tribulations that life has to offer. From the oldest to the youngest, life starts throwing curveballs at them literally days before their dad passes.
While coming together to bury their father is supposed to be the plan, the sisters find comfort and peace within each other not just for the passing of their father, but in navigating life in general.
Standing strong together, the women navigate the drama of love, loss, and career effortlessly.
This is one of those books where you can feel the emotion of each character leap off the pages and settle within you as you follow along with the Barton sisters.
I don’t think I’ve ever longed for a sister more in life as I did by time I reached the end of this book.
My name is K Sherrie, And I recommend this read! 💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾
Sometimes things Need to fall apart to cometo come Together the right way.”
Melanin in the city was a awesome freaking book. Iesha Bree and C. Monet y’all did a great job on this book. I’m usually on audiobooks but I bought this book on Amazon Kindle because I loved Iesha’s prior work.
This book will have you lie laughing, crying and cursing all at the same time. I think I can spend the day at the blush. So that I can laugh and I can cry and I can scream.
I didn’t want to put it down and I finished it in 2 days. Shit…That’s Audiobook speed. Lol. I loved it.
If you have broken relationships with you siblings, you let the catch of your life go. This is for you. Shit, this book is for everyone! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don’t generally leave reviews. But I cannot finish this book and not say I absolutely love the story of the sisters. Being a only child on my mom side with several siblings on my dad side that are just now getting to know each other after my father‘s death this story touched my whole heart.
Not only is it a great story with great well-rounded characters but it really was a great read all together from beginning to end. I read it in two days.
I'm going to start off by saying that the exes in this book made me want to jump through the page😂. I read this one in one setting. I enjoyed the sister dynamics. The fact that they chose to come together in their time of grief stuck out to me most. I love that they chose sisterhood over anything else. The love stories gave me all the feels. The men were tea! I really enjoyed the authenticity and realism in this story. Highly recommended!
I love the title and I enjoyed the book. These four sisters were very different yet, the same. This is a really nice story. I'm so happy that the sisters came together and supported each other. The fact that they each found love was just wonderful.
This book was so good. Watching the sisterhood evolve was amazing. Even though tragedy brought them together, they realized the importance of loving and strengthening your relationships while you still have the time. Favorite sister was Korrin then Cia but loved each of their stories.
I enjoyed reading about 4 sisters. Tragedy brought them together and had them boss up their lives. I was really into Korrin and Roxi’s stories. They were entertaining and had a more of a catch back/ karma feel to them. Cia and Charleigh’s stories took awhile to get into but ultimately I enjoyed all the love stories.
Wasn’t sure where this story was going when I started but oh did I love it all! This story of 4 sisters navigating through loving and liking each other, while navigating through their own issues and love lives was a breath of fresh air. I truly hope there is a follow up because I’m all in!!
I really loved this story so much, the love between these sisters was so blessed, how they looked out for each other in was so close. If you have not read this book my two of my favorite authors you should read it soon, you will not have any Regrets about reading it.
The sisters stories felt like a big bowl of ice cream and some brownies. It was warm, sincere and a delight tale about two sets of sisters from the same dad and different moms, learning to love one another. The men they chose were justifiably the right amount of goodness.
This book has my mouth open from the first sentence and it kept open throughout the whole book!! I loved the characters and it’s crazy how they all their issues going on and they still found time to build their relationship!! This is book hands down a A++++!!!! Read it
The Barton sisters found love for each other. Once loving each other they were able to love themselves. Take the journey with them as they explore the possibility of giving and receiving love from a partner.
Omg this book was so good and funny and warm it felt like if I was part of the family it warmed to my core I felt emotions for all of them y’all definitely wrote this book so great I loved every part of it
This was a pretty good read! I love how I was able to relate to the sisters! Their relationship reminds me of the one that I have with my sisters! This was most definitely a page Turner and I highly recommend this book!
I love it! Made me think about me and my sisters. I'm the oldest of us and we are all pretty close but a wide age range. I hope we stick together as time goes on and we get older. Great job honey. You have a reader in me.
This was a sure fire read from beginning to end! Nothing like a sisterhood despite the things that were designed to tear them apart it brought them closer together the collaboration of these two was nothing but dopeness
I loved this book!! I enjoyed the way, the Barton sisters came together and sorted out their feelings. Totally a great book for a sisterhood reading group!
This was a good read. I loved the concept. Can identify with the papa was a rolling stone (smh). Loved the difference relationship between sisters. Also the difference kinds of situations we can find ourselves. I enjoyed each women's journey. ❤⚘
Only we can change our history of Generational Curses. We don’t have to be who or what we think our parents were. We can want more and better by creating boundaries and building relationships.
I can’t remember the last time I started a book and finished it in one day. This was so good. The story line was so relatable. So glad each sister finally came to their senses about their relationships.
Great Book the Barton sisters was crazy funny and off the chain, they may have not had the same mother but they had the same dad and it took him dying for them to come together.
This was a great book. I loved how the sisters grew and changed. Love not only helped them blossom. But their love for each other allowed them to heal and elevate.
