Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, something extraordinary can occur. Which is exactly what happened when Melanie met Louis. She finally got her happily ever after. The two innocently fall in love, blend their families and bask in the bit of happiness that life has finally tossed their way.
Of course, life isn't without problems, no one's life ever is. What they never expected was Melanie's sudden medical problems and freak, not so accidental, accidents. Suddenly instead of living out her fairy tale, Melanie finds herself stuck in a nightmare. Her happily ever after has turned into an intense game of survival and her opponents are a couple of entitled sociopaths who think they can outwith her. May only the best of the best win.
Wife, mother, a survivor of life... Recently promoted from Mom to Nana. Full-time author of multiple titles including; Saving Ian, Not My Mother's Child, the Suburban Dysfunction trilogy, and a new detective series, Memoirs of a Serial Killer.
A woman in what is today called a blended family suffers various maladies and attacks. Told from multiple view points. On the whole, could use a lot more tension.
Great fast read. Woman, with two kids, married a man with three. Her kids, loved the new Dad. His kids, despised the step mom. His daughters, evil and devious, did all kinds of things to inflict bodily and mental harm on the new Mom. Was hard for the Dad to accept.
I won this book in a goodreads give away and it was definitely a page turner. This was a quick read which is sometimes nice for a change. I enjoyed it so much, I hurried and downloaded part 2.

I read this book in two sittings. It was packed with nonstop suspense from beginning to end. I’m afraid to write too much because I don’t want to give anything away. But I will say this, the family is not what they seem. This book will leave you at the edge of your seat. And when it’s over, you’ll wish it could have lasted longer. Luckily, it looks like there’s a part two, so I’m excited about that. This is a must read if you like suspenseful crime stories.
I stuck with this book, in spite of the need for a good edit, because the story was compelling. I read the book in one sitting, and I am certainly glad I read it, but I would have enjoyed it more if it didn’t have so many grammatical errors. Punctuation, spelling, and verb tense agreement (most frustrating for me) were all problematic in this book. It’s a good story, and with a good editor I think it could be a 5 star book.
I won this book through the Goodreads Giveaway. I'm glad I did. It was fast-paced, kept me guessing, and kept my interest as I read it.
I know it might not be for everyone, but I full enjoyed it. The MC, Melanie, definitely did not have an easy time throughout this book, but she kept going and pushing forward, staying strong. Great female MC.
This is a horrific story of a truly dysfunctional family. It was an intriguing read but such a dark and unpleasant one that I can’t really say that I enjoyed it. Well written with a gripping plot, it’s one I’ll remember. I won a copy of this book in a Goodread giveaway for this honest review.
