Nayana and August Heart are couple goals for anyone that knows the ideal marriage, a beautiful family, and successful careers. However, no one knows how alone Nayana feels in her marriage these days with August putting his career before his family. When tragedy strikes, it drives a wedge between the couple so severe that Nayana takes matters into her own hands. Grief and sadness are replaced with guilt and anger making the couple feel like strangers to each other. August realizes just how much damage he’s caused by ignoring his wife’s pleas but is it too late for him to fix what is broken? He’s in a race against time to make Nayana remember the promises they made to each other years ago.
I love a book about married couples going through it but, This Is My Promise didn’t make the cut. It started out pretty good but, then the storyline fell apart. Nayana and August’s marital foundation has started to crack because, he’s spending too much time at work and not enough time at home. When tragedy strikes, their marriage suffers even more to the point where Nayana moves out and asks August for a divorce. Having him served with divorce papers seems to be the eye opener August needs to start fighting for wife. With the help of Nayana’s cousin, he whisks her away to the place where they fell in love. August is hoping he and Nayana can finally have those tough conversations both of them have been avoiding. This is where the book lost me. The build-up to their reconciliation fell flat. The whole point of the conversation was for August to apologize for not being there when Nayana needed him and for them to figure out how to find their way back to the way things use to be. But August manages to flip the script, has a meltdown, and somehow made Nayana the bad guy. He was a master manipulator because, in the end, he had her apologizing to him. And, they still didn’t resolve anything. They never actually talked about their issues. August throws a tantrum, storms out, and the next thing you know, they’ve made up. That whole scene was a discombobulated mess. It was giving manufactured vibes and it just didn’t feel genuine at all. The ending felt rushed like the author was over her own book. I really wanted to like This Is My Promise but, it didn’t do it for me. I really hope Aspen’s book is much better.
What a powerful story of forgiveness and redemption! Nayana was at the end of her rope, and practically begging her husband August to spend time with her and their son. When tragedy strikes, she is done! Her pleas fell on deaf ears, and now she wants out! August, spent multiple hours daily working hard for his family, but failed to realize that his presence at home was needed just as much. When he finally understands the error of his ways, Nayana is already gone and he was too blinded by his own ish to even notice! He is devastated! But, he will not give up, and wants to show Nayana that he can make good on his promises. Nayana did not make it easy for August at all! They fought a hard battle to overcome the anger, blame and grief, to renew the love that was always there! I felt so much emotion for both of these characters throughout the read, and am so glad that they were able to overcome the huge obstacles they faced. Great read! 👍👍👍
Very sweet story. Marriage is hard especially when you lose sight of what’s important. I really enjoyed the story And I’m so happy with how things played out. Love is so powerful
If you promise someone something, try to deliver. The story was about a couple struggling after a great loss and trying to survive their disconnected souls. I was happy with the way this tale ended.
3.5/5 Nayana and August are a married couple struggling behind closed doors despite everyone thinking they have the ideal marriage. Tragedy strikes and their marriage suffers even more.
Hmm... The build-up to the reconciliation conversation fell flat. Nayana couldn't have a conversation with August without her exploding because she wasn't ready to reveal her true feelings. But her true feelings were never shared because they made up pretty quickly after their date. I think these two realized how much they loved each other, so they set aside their anger, apologized, and moved on. I like seeing characters communicate, especially regarding a conflict. So I was disappointed that they moved on without any real conversation. The storyline and plot were great. Maybe if the book was longer the conflict could have been fleshed out.
Only God could heal this hurt that loomed between August and Nayana. He was neglectful and distant in their marriage issue 1 but the tragedy multiplied that by 1000. After that It’s a wonder that Nayana even cared about love from August. His prior neglect was minuscule in comparison but what’s the point? This was tough…not the forgiveness because it wasn’t anyone fault but the grief and getting over so a tremendous loss. The bounce back with God is not always seen so quickly in real like. Thank a good for fiction!
B. Moni such a good read. When you think about what a person goes through when faced with a horrible situation that couldn't be dealt with because the person is holding so much blame on themselves if they aren't careful they can destroy a beautiful relationship. August and NyAnna went through the trials and handled the hard times like many of us do. The good thing is that God allowed them to fight and truly grow in true love.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
This was a fantastic storyline that couldn’t have gotten any better. Character development made you fall in love with the characters. A true love story of trusting God and never giving up. I enjoyed and recommend this five star read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
This book was everything and my heart went out to both of them and August got them papers a lightbulb clicked on and he got it right and Naya had moments where I wanted to fight her but I could see where both was coming from .. overall I love love this book!!
This was a great book about love and forgiveness. The characters went through a very traumatic event that put a strain on an already fragile marriage. If you love stories about, love forgiveness and second chances than this is a great book for you.
I really wished this story was longer, however, I understand that there's a limit to the amount of angst that a heart can hold. I appreciate that she went there. Some things are hard to read and write. I enjoyed this story and am glad I read it. Bravo!
This book was really good. It shows how you and your spouse can go through something very traumatic with forgiveness, love and God you can work things out. It was so sad what happened to AJ. I am August and Nayana were able to find their way back to each other.
I loved this story! If I’ve never learned anything from a book this story taught me to never give up and to fight for what I want. This story stole my heart and I did not want it to end! Most definitely recommend this 5 star read!
I admired the fight in August because it is definitely rare. It was heartbreaking watching them battle through that storm. All I could think about was "what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger!" I wouldn't mind enjoying reading more of their journey. Such a good book!
This story the importance of love and forgiveness. As well as communication. My heart went out to the both of them. I’m glad everything worked for them.
