Following a major fundraising event for the Butterfly Foundation, formed by Special Agents Ellie Conway and Mac Connelly, to offer sanctuary and support to the children of mentally ill parents, Ellie is sent to the first of many horrific crime scenes. Now a Supervising Special Agent, Ellie is confronted with identifying the connection between the victims. Events and puzzling clues which include bourbon, chlorine and gold ribbons, draw Ellie into a maze which includes a serial killer, Eastern European terrorists with military connections and conceivably, the Pentagon. Women are being murdered, children are missing and the trail is bizarre. After a phone call purporting to offer information, Ellie puts her life in jeopardy, walks into a trap and is assaulted and severely stabbed. With her psycho-prophetic talents, Ellie anticipates and protects future victims and deciphers the underlying reason for the murders. Bypassing her boss, Special Agent in Charge Caine Grafton, Ellie pulls in a favour from the highest level in order to close borders, airports, train stations in an attempt to trap Hudson Hawk, believed to be responsible for these and similar crimes in Europe. The denouement leaves Ellie facing a terrible reality and a grievous loss.

Having read Killerbyte and enjoying it enough to pop over to mobi-pocket and post a quick review, I was offered the opportunity to read Terrorbyte in it’s final manuscript format. And it was a very interesting ride.
I have never read a book in MS form (apart from my own) but I wanted to know what was going on with Ellie and Mac and Lee.
In Terrorbyte we meet a killer who uses Ellie’s published book of poetry and leave lines at crime scenes. Personally addressed to her. We see a slightly different side to Ellie in this book, there is a profound fear deep inside her; scaring her enough to ask to be withdrawn from the case. Her request is denied by Caine, he needs her on this one.
This book is more emotionally charged that the first book, Killerbyte. Ellie’s sharp wit is still intact and her inner dialogue is interesting, eye-opening and humorous at times, which is placed perfectly in the book to break the tension from the scene or to spice up needed conversation sections.
An intricate plot forms quickly (especially if you have read Killerbyte) as body bags mount up and the clues come dribbling in. If you loved Killerbyte (and judging by the top ten ranking quite a lot of you did) then you’ll love Terrorbyte as the stakes are raised and things get personal.
The book is currently with her publisher and soon to be released in the coming months. I think I will repost this review when the book comes out, just to refresh your memories.

I loved this second book in the series.

Ellie, Mac and her team are the perfect team. The Russian was an interesting addition to the team.

I found it quite interesting to read this and how Ellie and her team were brought into the case. Someone actually writing a note with her name on it. Definitely not anything that I would’ve expected.

I never knew what would happen next with this story and it took me on a wild ride. I look forward to reading the next book.

Unexpected ending :(

Personally, I liked terrorbyte better than Cat's first novel killerbyte but that's only because I thought terrorbyte really delved deeper into the main character - Ellie. Killerbyte was good, but terrorbyte took it to another level. I enjoyed Ellie's quirky lapses into her head with almost an Ally McBeal quality of fantasy however, these episodes were not as random as they first seem. It's how Ellie works out the different angles of a case and it's a unique take on the mind of a criminal investigator.

I have to admit, when I finished this book, I wanted to slap the writer upside the head. Instead I emailed her and gave her a little grief. I will not spoil the ending - but I will say, it was a shock.

Still - a compelling read that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

I really enjoyed Terrorbyte. It was lovely to get to know Ellie better. And the case she works on is intriguing and interesting. When i finished the book, i was ready for more. I am looking forward to the release of Exacerbyte in February.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was very action packed and you seem to delve into the mind of the main character Ellie a lot more in this book. I was glad that the story was different and the outline of the story was very different from Killerbyte, as some other crime novels tend to do. Very enjoyable.

Once agin I was thoroughly drawn in and on the edge of my seat as Terrorbyte took me on a wild ride. You won't believe how this one finishes!
