I have just finished reading this second book of Kay Silver's. Her style is engaging and immersive and she is able to cover difficult and potentially divisive themes - including the Jewish religion and orthodoxy, the Holocaust, Generational Trauma, Zionism - in a way that is completely engaging. She does this through the lens of a family and its complicated dynamics and we, the reader, can gain different perspectives on complex ideas, without feeling the need to take sides. I thoroughly enjoyed reading these books and would recommend them to anyone interested in the recent history of Judaism, both in Europe and Israel, since the Holocaust.
Again, an excellent read which gives some interesting insights into various aspects of the Jewish faith. I would love the author to write another book in the series, maybe focusing on Helen as I believe that being the wife of an orthodox rabbi would bring many challenges and I would love to learn more about her own wishes and ambitions which may extend beyond being a supportive wife.
