Anne of the Island / Anne of Windy Willows

Montgomery was born at Clifton, Prince Edward Island, Nov. 30, 1874. She came to live at Leaskdale, north of Uxbridge Ontario, after her wedding with Rev. Ewen Macdonald on July 11, 1911. She had three children and wrote close to a dozen books while she was living in the Leaskdale Manse before the family moved to Norval, Ontario in 1926. She died in Toronto April 24, 1942 and was buried at Cavendish, Prince Edward Island.

Ich finde den Schreibstil sehr schön, habe es sehr gern gelesen. Man fühlt sich in eine andere Zeit zurück versetzt. Auch wenn nicht so wahnsinnig viel passiert, ist es unterhaltsam.

Another enjoyable book about Anne. I was a little disappointed not to find more of Gilbert there. Of course, all of Anne's letters are addressed to him, but there is nothing we learn about the three years from his point of view.
In this book, Anne is helping many lovers on their way, which is lovable to read. There is a thing about Anne Shirley that makes me feel bad about myself at times. I am a trusting soul myself and expect the best of every day when I greet it in the morning but compared to Anne I sometimes feel like a miserable, grumpy lady. That makes me want to be more friendly and helpful all the more though, so it isn't a bad thing.

I read and reviewed the two books collected here separately, so this is basically just for my own records. The collection rating is an average of the two individual ratings, rounded up because Goodreads doesn't do half stars. Of the two books, I preferred Anne of the Island, because I really did enjoy Anne's romance with Gilbert. I always thought it was a shame that it never carried on to the next book (which is part of the reason that Windy Willows only earned three stars from me). Yes, they're still engaged, and yes, Anne is writing him letters and those letters make up substantial parts of the book, but... Gilbert isn't actually in it. And Montgomery is ruthlessly careful to edit out any sense of romance from Anne's letters, so it's all a bit odd, actually. Don't get me wrong, I liked Windy Willows, but I read this series several times as a kid and this is the book I always forget, perhaps because it feels so much like a placeholder in that central relationship.

Ein Buch das mit Worten nicht beschrieben werden kann.
Die Geschichte ist nicht actionreich, extrem spannend, herzzerreißend oder ungewöhnlich. Alles, was sie ist, ist schön. Eine einfache Geschichte über ein junges Mädchen, das ihren Weg geht und jedem, dem sie begegnet, an ihrem Glück und ihrer Freude teilhaben lässt. Obwohl das Leben ende des 19. Jahrhunderts sehr offensichtlich extrem romantisiert wird kann man nicht anders, als sich in diese Zeit auf die kanadische Insel zu wünschen. Ein Alltag, der von den einfachen Dingen lebt und Freude in Allem, was einem begegnet, egal, ob Wind, Regen, Blumen, ein Lächeln oder ein Sonnenaufgang.
Am Ende des Buches bleibt man mit einem glücklichen Herzen zurück.

Ich liebe das Buch genauso sehr, wie ich Anne auf Green Gables geliebt habe! Ich kann Anne einfach nicht loslassen ich vermisse sie schon jetzt, nachdem ich das Buch endgültig zugeschlagen habe!
Leider erfährt man in diesem Buch ab Teil zwei nicht mehr allzuoft etwas von Gilbert. Das fand ich sehr schade!
Der Schreibstil ist sehr angenehm zu lesen, obwohl die Wortwahl oft sehr altertümlich war, aber das macht das Buch besonders.
Außerdem lernt man, wie ich finde, einige Dinge, die oft in oder zwischen den Zeilen stehen. Viele Zitate prägen sich in das Gedächtnis ein und verändern dich und dein Mindset.
Ein echtes Herzensbuch, auch wenn es mir doch teilweise mein Herz gebrochen hat!

I love this saga. Anne and this dreams amazes me. But if I’m really honest this book demonstrates a Shortness of breath. This saga isn’t same like in when I opened Anne of green cable for the first time. I finish this saga but I’m little bit afraid about next of this saga.

Second best book ever
