Blog tour for Random Things Tours January 2022. I LOVED this book. I couldn't put it down and was thinking about it when I wasn't able to read. The authors have done a fantastic job of sustaining the suspense with every page, and I was, and am, seriously impressed. I was invited on the blog tour for this one, and while the authors were unknown to me a few weeks ago, they are DEFINITELY on my radar now. Excellent protaganist who I cheered on throughout and excellent plot writing. I would read a chapter, but then they all had cliffhangers to make me keep reading! I loved it. Really looking forward to reading their other books.

A huge thank you to the author, Random Things Tours and Dark Edge Press for allowing me to be part of the book tour!
Synopsis:
Jo Finnegan is about to enter a nightmare. First, she is attacked whilst leaving work, threats of more harm are made towards her if she doesn’t give them information, information she doesn’t have. Things only get worse when she gets home to find her sister dead in the front room and her wife missing. When the police arrive, she is still stunned by the events of that night, the next minute she is being frame for murder. To top it all off, this is only the beginning, this nightmare is only going to get worse, a lot worse!
Review: First things first, I have to say the front cover is very striking, my attention was instantly grabbed. Then I read the juicy description which confirmed I needed a place on the tour for this! I wanted to know what nightmare would be in store for Jo. I was going in blind with this read and I’m definitely glad I did! The opener was explosive, the story kicks off with a bang and I then found myself left with many questions I wanted answering. It was clear from the start this would be a fast paced read and this definitely pulled me in. I then found the chapters to be quite short, which continued to keep the story moving at pace. I was a little way or Jo at first, he reactions to some situations baffled me, they were not the normal reactions I would expect and although I found this hard to believe at times, it didn’t put me off, it just made her character more interesting. This was action packed from the start, there was something around every corner, it really did not relent, just continued to give! The shocking events in some chapters made this read quite difficult to put down at times. Kill Me Goodbye is honestly filled with twists, turns and quite candidly, brutality, right up my street! I was itching all the way through to know what would happen, so much so I just wanted the book to finish, not because I didn’t like it but because I was on the edge of my seat. This really wasn’t the nightmare I was expecting, it was so much better. Now as for the ending, you are literally caught in twists, turns, betrayal and danger right until the very end but then you are hit with an ending you do not see coming and actually, I found it quite comical, cleverly done by the authors. The authors really did do a fantastic job at tag teaming on this book, their hard work really did pay off. This read really does highlight what a good thriller is, and if you like a story that really packs a punch, this one is for you!
Jo Finnegan is a newly qualified criminal law barrister and has married Sarina in a whirlwind romance after a chance meeting less than a year ago. Careful with money, she has parked in a dark alley instead of an expensive car park and is set upon by three young thugs. At first she thinks they are only after the usual – cash, cards, phone etc - but it soon becomes clear they have targeted her for another reason. The only problem is, she has absolutely no idea what they want. Beaten, slashed and panicked, she slams into them with her car making her escape. This is just the start of a bloodied trail she will leave behind her. She makes it home and finds a crime scene. Her sister Tara lies dead and her wife is missing. Before she can even pick up the phone, detectives arrive and arrest her for murder. It becomes clear she is being set up and when she is offered help, she readily accepts it. Only it’s a case of out of the frying pan, into the fire. And she still has no clue what information she is supposed to have. As she goes on the run, becoming a real kick-ass along the way and making use of some of her dubious past clients, is there anyone out there that she can actually trust? Will she even stay alive long enough to discover the truth? This is a quirky and highly entertaining read, with some great humour in places, as Jo finds herself plunged into the underbelly of criminal life and literally dodges the bullets. It’s a quick and engrossing book, with nice short chapters which keep the action and suspense going right up the end, and with loads of surprises and twists along the way. This is the second novel from this talented team of authors. I have enjoyed both so far, and I am looking forward to reading more. 4.5*
This crime thriller packs a punch. It is full of gangsters and scary characters that will leave the hairs on the back of your neck standing on edge. I am new to AK Reynolds and found this book to be a fast, easy read. The action keeps coming which makes flipping the pages easy. The story is well told and full of surprises along the way. The ending had my jaw dropping open as I never saw that coming (you will have to read the book to see what I mean). However, while the ending was a surprise, it was not what I wanted. When Jo is mugged after leaving work late one evening, her attackers keep asking for information that she does not have. This convinces Jo that the mugging is not a random act of violence. These hooligans were waiting for her. Returning home, Jo finds her sister murdered in her house and her wife missing. When the police arrive only a moment after her discovery and arrest her for the murder, she quickly realises that she is being framed. However, that is only the start of her nightmare. Can Jo find the truth and justice for Tara? Or is she headed for trouble way beyond her control? Kill ME Goodbye is an action-packed tale that provides an escape from reality as you lose yourself among its pages. You are never left thinking the story is anything but fiction. This makes it a relaxing read. Jo Finnegan undergoes a lot of changes as the story unfolds. She starts out weak and almost insecure and grows into a strong determined woman who won’t allow herself to be pushed around. Unfortunately, at the end of the story, she surrenders all the strength she has gained, making a decision that left me disappointed. Her situation forced her to be strong, to stand up for herself making her a great character. Then she makes a choice that undermines all that growth. I enjoyed the book even if the ending was not what I would have wanted. I do not doubt that many readers will love the ending – this comment is based on personal feelings and is no reflection on the author at all. If anything, the author did a wonderful job. After all, I am left invested enough to disagree with the character. Kill Me Goodbye is a unique, fascinating story that left me racing from page to page, eager for the truth. Fans of gangster crime will love this fast passed, action-packed thriller that delivers an ending you will never see coming. If you are keen on an unpredictable read, then I highly recommend this one.
Wow! What a way to kick off my 2022 reads with this fabulous book! I couldn’t put it down. I was walking around the house with my kindle in my hand as I needed to know what happened next. It’s fast paced, short chapters and literally has you hooked from the first page. Full of twists, surprises and lots of suspense!!
I literally read this in less than 24hrs it was so good. This is the second book by husband & wife writing duo A. K. Reynolds & I would highly recommend it to all you crime thriller lovers out there.
It's exciting, gripping, utterly compelling & you won't want to stop till you've finished.
A very well written novel that's fast paced, action packed, suspenseful & everything you'd hope to find in a great thriller.
Full of amazing characters, some nice & some not so. Our leading lady Jo was such a fantastic character, feisty, determined & kickass!
This fast paced, action packed thriller is voiced entirely from the perspective of Jo Finnegan, a Barrister who finds herself caught up in a terrifying nightmare of vicious thugs, car chases, lies, deception and betrayals that shatter life as she knows it into tiny little pieces. After being attacked in a alleyway by a gang of thugs who insisted that she had something that they wanted, Jo had managed to get home only to discover the dead body of her sister Tina and that her wife Sarina was missing. Jo had hardly had a chance to register what had happened before she was hauled in for questioning by the police and as the interrogation progressed it became apparent that she was their prime suspect for Tina's murder. She soon realises that the only way that she is going to clear her name is by figuring out what is going on and to do that then she will have to find Sarina. But where is Sarina, is she even still alive and what is the mysterious object that Jo's attackers insisted she had in her possession? Who had murdered Tina and were the motives behind her death? Jo's quest for answers will see her pushed well out of her comfort zones and discovering a strength of character that not even she knew existed within herself.
I really liked Jo, I loved her sense of humour and witty comments and observations about the dangerous situations she found herself in and the various unsavoury individuals she encountered throughout the book. The author's portrayals of Jo's conflicting feelings and emotions were realistic and it was fascinating to witness the subtle changes her character underwent as her quest continued and she uncovered more questions than answers. I found myself rooting for Jo as she tried to figure out what the hell was going on whilst being pursued by her numerous enemies.
The secondary characters were a mixed bag of vivid individuals many of whom were untrustworthy and some who had hidden secrets and were prepared to do everything in their power to prevent the truth from being uncovered.
This is a thrilling, intelligently written, fast paced, roller coaster ride that had me pinned to my chair from the first page and hardly given a opportunity to draw in a breath as I was rocketed through the various twists and turns of the author's exhilarating story. I would love to watch a movie or tv adaptation of this enthralling thriller and would gladly recommend it to readers who enjoy reading books with plots that being to mind author's such as Simon Kernick, T.M.Logan and Richard Parker.

I’m thrilled that it is my turn to share my thoughts about Kill Me Goodbye, as part of the blog tour hosted by Random Things Tours on behalf of Dark Edge Press.
𝗠𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄
Barrister Jo Finnigan is attacked by a gang searching for something that they think she has. When they realise she can’t help them, she is of no further use to them. Her only means of escape is her car, which has fatal consequences, just not for her. She arrives home to find her wife missing and her sister dead. Murdered. When she heard the sirens approaching, she knows she has been set up.
I was unaware of A. K. Reynolds, or the fact that the initials are for the husband and wife writing duo Andy and Kath Reynolds. If they write other books even half as well as Kill Me Goodbye, I’ll read them all. As it is, I’m their newest fan. The style of writing had me hooked before I was even half way through chapter one. The story was both fast paced and compelling, making the read very exciting.
I liked Jo straight away; clever, quick thinking, determined, and one tough cookie. It’s refreshing to see such a strong female lead character in an otherwise male dominated genre. Other characters were likeable, or not, although the story wound around so many twists and turns that I couldn’t tell from one moment to the next who to trust.
Overall, this book is brilliant, and you would be doing yourself a disservice by not reading it. Would I recommend it? In a heartbeat! Already a contender for my 2022 top twenty. I gave Kill Me Goodbye, by A. K. Reynolds, five stars.
The story: Jo Finnegan is fighting for her life. Thinking the worst is over when she evades an attempted mugging on the way back to her car one evening, she returns home in the middle of the night to a devastating scene — her sister has been killed and her wife is missing. What had seemed like a random robbery attempt seems to be part of something much bigger; but Jo has no idea what she has that the criminal underworld could possibly want.
When the police make it clear she is the main suspect in her sister’s murder, Jo has no choice but to investigate matters for herself, and try and get to the bottom of why she was attacked, and what happened to the people she loved. But with some very dangerous criminals prepared to do anything to catch up with her, will she be able to keep one step ahead for long enough to work out what is going on?
My thoughts: According to their bio, in the husband-and-wife writing team known as AK Reynolds, Kath is responsible for story ideas and characters’ thought processes, while Andy focuses on plotting and writing the action scenes… This is definitely in evidence in their newest book, which has a brilliantly fast-paced plot, with lead character Jo having to keep her wits about her from page 1! We are also given great insight into her character, and her feelings of confusion but determination as the plot continually twists around her.
It’s safe to say that Jo is a lot more capable than I would be in her place (I doubt I would have lasted past the second page…), and the action never lets up (it’s definitely not suitable for the squeamish!). Just when you think you’ve worked out what’s going on, the authors throw another curve ball at you, and I was genuinely surprised by the ending. Overall, it was a great, enjoyable read and I would recommend this book to all fans of pacy action thrillers!
Kill Me Goodbye is a first person account following Jo, as she is mugged and attacked in an alleyway, but the attackers unleash a monster as Jo realises she is fighting for her life.
As Jo returns home she discovers her sister Tara has been murdered, she has been set up to take the fall, and her wife has disappeared.
What follows is quite a tale of a bigger story, most of which Jo is completely oblivious too. When she was mugged the attackers wanted something, but Jo had no idea what.
It doesn't become clear what the information is until the last few chapters, but it does make the actions up to that point a lot more understandable.
It's a fast paced, full on, non stop action thriller. Lots of car chases, gun fights, stabbings, torture insinuations (thankfully no actual descriptions of this)
There are a couple of different gangs trying to find and capture Jo. Jo is a criminal defence lawyer, yet at times she seemed really naive and made dumb mistakes that you wanted to scream at her. Weirdly as it went on I found myself warming to her and really rooting for her. She did seem overly trusting of some people, but on occasion she truly had no choice.
The baddies were as evil as you'd expect. The big butch muscly hench men, slimey dark haired besuited businessmen etc. It all works.
As the book reaches the final section there are twists and turns galore, and you truly don't know who to believe. Just as you think you've figured it out, the author laughs at you, then twists again.
A thrilling read and I would definitely pick up more books by these authors.
What would you do if you arrived at your house and you saw your sister dead and your wife missing? Be scared and call the police, am I right? But what if the police appears and you become the main suspect of the killing? Then a race against the clock will begin to find the truth and discover what really happened. This is the story of Jo Finnegan, how she has to fight to discover the truth while her world is crumbling around her, because everyone seems to want to kill her. Even if she has no idea what’s happening around her, she trusts her instincts and fights with all her energy to be alive and find her missing wife. It’s quite easy to get gripped by the story with all the action in it, Jo is hunted by someone she doesn’t know but is ready to fight to continue alive. The story is intriguing and it’s not fully revealed till the end, so it’s quite interesting to make your own plots while reading the story. But I have to admit that I didn’t enjoy the ending much, maybe because I would have chosen something different, but this is something personal, I don’t trust people that lie to me. If you are looking for a non-stop thriller full of action and with no-one to trust, this is your next read, believe me. Are you ready to “Kill Me Goodbye”?
Kill Me Goodbye is a mystery thriller written by a husband and wife team, Andy and Kath Reynolds. I have read a few books that are written by a husband and wife team before and have found them brilliant books. I found this a finely honed thriller that had me holding my breath in places. A very well written book that was crammed with suspense, drama, and tension from the off. I was hooked from the synopsis, and the story itself just cemented its grip on me. I enjoyed getting to know the characters, which are very well drawn. The authors have successfully created characters that you can't decide whether to trust them or not, and this just enhances the intriguing storytelling. I could easily place myself with Jo in her world. The authors' descriptions were detailed enough for me to feel a part of everything. This is always the sign of a great book for me. With short chapters that keep the pace up and made me want to read 'just one more chapter' before I had to join the real world again! The more I read, the more twisty this story became, and it makes you wonder how the main character will actually survive or even if they would. A mystery thriller that's a highly enjoyable read and one I definitely recommend for any thriller lovers.
What a good read. A new author (husband and wife partnership) for me, but will definitely be on the lookout for more. A great plot line and a fabulous protagonist in Jo. A fast paced read with plenty of thrills and spills and red herrings galore.
Briefly, barrister Josephine ‘Jo’ Finnegan is mugged by three men when leaving her office. Despite being injured she escapes to her car at which point they produce guns and start shooting at her. Determined to get away she runs them over leaving one dead and the others badly injured. Managing to get home she discovers her front door has been forced, her sister strangled and her wife missing. Not knowing what to do next when police turn up, having been tipped off, and arrest her for murder.
This is just the start of a breathless mystery thriller where nobody is who they say they are and there are so many twists and turns as Jo tries to find out what is happening, why she is been picked on and why her wife has mysteriously disappeared. Compared to many thrillers which have a natural conclusion this one comes with even more surprises and certainly not what I expected. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was kindly given an ARC of Kill Me Goodbye by A.K. Reynolds, published by Dark Edge Press for an honest review.
Barrister Josephine Finnegan’s day goes from bad to worse as she is attacked for something she doesn’t have and has no knowledge of. She manages to evade her muggers but not without fatal consequences; for someone. She then finds herself in a deadly game of chase, while trying to find her wife only to discover someone close her has also been attacked. She is on the run from a threat she doesn’t understand for reasons she cannot know. She only has her own instincts and guile to guide her; never knowing who she can trust, or which way is the right way. This is a fast paced thriller which will keep you reading on. The writing team which is Andy and Kath Reynolds have put together a great roller-coaster of a ride of a novel; and just like the fairground ride, you can’t leave it until the end. Full of twists and turns, this will keep you rapt until the end. A five-star read.
Kill Me Goodbye is my first read by A.K. Reynold and I found the writing to be on point. From the minute I started reading, I knew this was going to be a book I’d have trouble putting down.
This is an action packed crime thriller full of characters who will have you on the edge of your seat and some who will raise the hair on the back of your neck. I love character driven novels and this has some fantastic (and evil!) characters who are so well written, I kept forgetting they weren’t real.
The twists and turns are around every corner. This is a quick read, because of how well-paced the novel is. The ending was jaw dropping. It’s been a while since my jaw physically dropped at the surprise in a book. I’m still in shock!
Highly, highly recommended!
Thank you to Random Things Tours for the free review copy. All opinions are my own and unbiased.
When lawyer Jo Finnegan is attacked when she leave work one evening she has no idea that this is the beginning of her nightmare. With murdered loved ones, a missing wife and some of Manchester’s most violent criminals wanting her dead Jo ends up on the run not being able to trust anyone. What is she going to do?
I enjoyed the plot of this book, Jo is a fantastic protagonist that you are routing for and just want her to survive. She is kick ass and will not sit back and wait to be killed. The writing made it easy to become hooked, the small chapters meant you wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next.
The only reason this isn’t a 4⭐️ is that I felt the end was a bit rushed and not following the kick ass characteristics of Jo we have learnt through the whole book
I like how this book is written by a husband and wife writing team, I feel as you though you get the best of both worlds with a man's perspective and also a woman's perspective. The story is a really good one, there feels as though there is a lot going on but it doesn't feel too heavy, there is the right amount of tension to make the story engaging, I found the story shocking, I wanted to help Jo but I didn't know how to. I can't believe what she has had to endure and that is only the start of it. It put me right on edge and I felt as though I was on the edge of my seat the whole time wondering what was going to happen. It was very good and I look forward to reading more of this authors books.
Where do you start with this book? It’s such a fast paced novel that catching your breath is not an option. From beginning to end you have no clue who is genuine and who isn’t. Characters who seem friendly suddenly aren’t in this high speed thriller. I’d definitely suggest that you take a few hours out of your day to curl up undisturbed with this book and a pot of tea, and just enjoy every single, thrilling second!
I loved the character of Jo as she becomes an accidental criminal to keep herself and her nearest and dearest alive. Be prepared for many handbrake squealing twists and turns that make this a fantastic book.
With thanks to Anne Cater, the publisher and authors for the advanced reading copy of this book.
It is always a risk starting off the New Year with an untried author(s) - I needn’t have worried. This book is a belter!
Jo Finnegan, a lawyer, is attacked when she leaves work one evening but manages to escape & get home. When she gets there, she finds her sister murdered, her wife missing & the police seem to arrive with indecent haste. It becomes obvious that she is being set up, but why? Due to her profession, she has some dubious contacts & uses them to her advantage. She is not to be messed with. Short chapters make this thriller an easy, fast-paced read. A good story, well told. Recommended.
Wow. This one will make you stop everything you are doing, cancel all your plans and race to the end to work out what on earth has happened here. A very punchy start and this maintains throughout with short sharp chapters that keep you needing more and more. This is very much a trust no one read, and cant imagine what might happen next. Jo is almost like a Jo Bond the amount of situations she escapes from. Great storyline.
What a cracker of a read! There are many twists and turns in this book. I did get frustrated with Jo though, with her being so naive and too trust worthy of strangers. I felt so sorry for her, poor woman. But she proved how much of a tough cookie she was. I absolutely loved reading this, every second I had spare I would pick it up. I must admit, I didn’t see how the storyline was going to end, fantastic book. Thank you very much for my gifted digital copy of this superb book.
I loved this book. It was full of drama, suspense and tension.
The writing style was clear, consise and had an easy timeline to follow. I was gripped from the beginning and was willing for a happy ending after everything that Jo, the main character had been through.
The chapters were short, but they still had just enough detail to give you a good picture of what was happening without being too overbearing.
Each chapter seemed to add more and more to the puzzle and you wondered what the end would be and whether the main character would actually make it!
The characters were amazing. You just didn't know who to trust. There were so many twists and turns! It kept me on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole way through.
Lastly the settings. I loved the attention to detail. You could really feel yourself in the characters' world and could easily picture the storyline happening. I think that added to the tension and the sense of realism.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable read and one that I highly recommend to fans of mystery thrillers!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review, and I had very high hopes for it. However, almost everything about it disappointed and dissatisfied me. The pretentious and wordy writing to the uninteresting characters and the rushed, unexciting mystery/plot. I had to push myself through most of this book and by the end. I didn’t care the least about what happened, neither to the protagonist nor just in general. Nonetheless, I know there have been people who enjoyed it quite a lot, and that many other people will love it as well, it just wasn’t for me and that’s okay too.
From the very first page this book promises to be an action packed thriller with plenty of twists, turns and red herrings to throw you off the scent. It’s a relatively short book and the pace is fast throughout, so this was one I was able to fly through. . Jo was a great character - very strong, clever and capable. It was interesting to see her character develop as the story progressed and she started to piece together the puzzle. The story was full of drama and suspense and the ending didn’t at all head in the direction I had expected at all!
