Lamb Chop and Charlie Horse enter a contest that not only tests their skills but challenges their self-esteem and friendship. Shari saves the day when she reads them Aesop's classic fable, a story with an ageless moral.
I remember the feel of this book cover from kindergarten. I had to search my memory to remember the name of this book! Such a tender, nostalgic childhood favorite!
This is actually one of my favorite stories from when I was a little girl. It's about Lamb Chop joining a boat contest to show the most unique boat. Her "friend" Charlie Horse decided to make a huge sail boat, but Lamb Chop chose to make a small row boat. Charlie Horse teased her stating that it was too small, like Lamb Chop. When she offered to help Charlie with his boat he refused, and continued to tease her for being too small. Shari (an adult) read them the story of The Lion and the Mouse by Aesop, which talked about how size makes no difference. In the end, Charlie Horse needed Lamb Chop to win the contest and decided to share his prize with her for all her help.
