Nefertiti All hell breaks loose around me in a span of two short years. I didn’t know whether I was coming or going. I wanted--no, I needed—something familiar to balance out the crazy that has become my world. I didn’t realize that what I needed, or should I say who I needed, but he comes in a remarkably familiar package. He is my support system. He is my stabilizer. But can he also become my lover? Am I ready to cross that point of no return?
Amaury It’s crazy how life can take you on a journey that you didn’t expect or foresee. The back-to-back events that push me deeper into Nefertiti's world cause me to imagine an eternal placement in her life. She is my best friend. I hold her down through thick and thin. What I didn’t consider are the feelings lying dormant within. It is time to move us to forever if she lets me.
Can best friends become lovers without incident or damage to their bond? Find out if Amaury can convince Nefertiti to blur the lines.
Amaury King & Nefertiti Sinclair built a solid foundation as best friends. Their feelings for one another grew & it led them to become more than just friends! The way Amaury showed his love for Nefertiti with the actions displayed was simply beautiful! They seemed to be made for one another!
Now, let me say although this was a decent read, it wasn’t the most enjoyable for me! I feel like it lacked a ton of details pertaining to their relationship. It almost felt like the parts regarding their relationship was rushed and it focused more on Nefertiti’s family issues. Although Amaury being there through Nefertiti’s darkest moments showed how strong their friendship was and their relationship would be, it was still not enjoyable to read primarily about her family.
There was a little to much going on for such a short story. More of it was about the FMC’s grief than actual romance. It felt more like women’s fiction to me. Amaury was really sweet but he was legit playing in his girlfriend’s face.
This was a nice friends-to-lovers book. The biggest issue I have is that it lacks an actual story. There is no character developme nt or anything that would make you root for them as a couple. There was limited information on how their friendship really developed and persisted. The book was also disjointed. Nothing actually happens. They get together and that's it. Dynamics aren't tested, no conflict from the ex, nothing, and then it just ends. It was also confusing because sometimes the characters are talking to the reader but it isn't consistent. I'm also not a fan of constantly jumping timelines. The book wasn't long enough for all of that and some of the smaller time jumps (ie. two weeks later) were pointless. Besides that, the characters were likeable, but the story was severely lacking and had me questioning what I had just read.
A cute love story with all kinds of emotions. Friends to lovers at it best. The characters are both likeable and interesting. This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed every single page.
I enjoyed reading Between The Lines. Nefertiti went through a lot with her family. This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.
Amaury and Nefertiti are best friends who feel a connection that could be more, but they don't act. Even though Amaury comes running every time she calls, even though he has a special nickname for her, and even though they would do anything for each other.
I love how patient and loving they always were with each other. The author exploring death of a loved one and mental illness was a deeper and more dramatic storyline than I was expecting but I thought it was handled carefully enough. I wish the main characters had more of a story to themselves though. More of a build up to why they needed one another in the way they did. I would have liked to see more than just them holding each other down through dramatic moments. Also, I felt like some of the time jumps disrupted the natural rhythm of the story.
But it was sweet in a lot of places. They were meant to be and I love that. And they found each other.
Wow I loved this book! Nefertiti and Amaury were definitely meant to be. Amaury was there every step of the way through all of the depression Nefertiti experienced from losing her loved ones. He loved her effortlessly and was patient and caring through the process they always say that friends make the best lovers it definitely showed in this story I am so glad they blurred the lines and got their happy ending!!
Nefertiti kept Amaury in the friend zone for three years. Everytime Nefertiti would call Amaury came running and his girlfriend Marquita couldn't stand that. She felt he was paying more attention to Nefertiti than her. Which he did her ringtone proved it. Nefertiti couldn't stand Marquita. Amaury couldn't stand Tyon. Everbody in their friend group knew they meant to be together. Even his parents and his sister. He was angry at Marquita when he saw her at the store with another man, his heart wasn't even in it. Amaury was with Nefertiti with her grandfather died and when her mama died. They ended up married and got a kid on the way.
Wow what a read Nefertiti had a lot of loss but Amaury was there to help her through it although they weren’t together they each had a emotional relationship do I kinda understood his girlfriend but she went about it the wrong way I don’t understand how her mother just mentally lost it after Pops death…..I love the flow of the story and how the secondary Characters were written as family’s job well done
Honey! I love friends to lovers DOWN, but this one did not do much for me. A lot was going on, yet literally nothing was going on at the same time 😭 It was like someone was quickly summarizing a story. So much happened off page and the emotion of the story was watered down. The characters were sort of likable, but we really didn’t get to know them at all. This was my first read by this author, but I may try her again 🤷🏾♀️
I love friends to lovers books. Nefertiti and Amauri should have been together a long time ago. Everyone seen the chemistry between them. Amauri was a true best friend. Nefertiti had so much tragedy in her life he was there every time. I love all their friends. Would love a story on each one. Very good book.
This was a sweet story of how friends-true friends-can blur the lines and actually make it work for them. Both Nefertiti and Amaury understood the assignment and took their time to form a strong foundation to their friendship which led to their romantic relationship.
The friendship Amaury had with his "Diamante" was beautiful. *Sigh* I loved the genuineness of their friendship and how they kept their business between each other until they were ready. And they never folded. Loved this!
This book took me through a lot of emotions. I was so glad that everyone got there happy ending. My heart broke for the entire Sinclair family I went through (and still going through) the same situation but like them I have a great support system. Author great job
Best friends are the best life partners, when that friendship is authentic that foundation is unshakable! Tragedy could have took Diamanté out but her lifeline held her together !
I really enjoyed this book full of tragedy, love, commitment, friendships and good coming out of a bad situation. I thought boundaries were broken with a friendship while being in a relationship.
This was my first read by Riley Baxter but I enjoyed it.
