Love, redemption, trust and always the hope for a happy future.
What do some cougar shifters, vampires, fae, bear shifters and humans have in common? The mating call which can't be ignored and a bond that can't be broken.
These are four short stories that hit the mark for romance with lots of heat and a HEA.
Very easily recommend.

I rec'd a copy through Booksprout. This is an unbiased review.

I'm thrilled to have been part of this box set with these talented authors! The novella I contributed, Cougar Woods, is an age-gap romance about feline shifters. Basically werewolves with a sassy twist—"cougars" who transform into actual cougars. ;) It was so much fun to write, and I hope you enjoy the read!

This is a short anthology of wlw paranormal romance focusing on the fated mates trope.

Cougar Woods - Tiana Warner ★★★★☆
Liza's twin brother has gone missing along with the rest of his college hockey team. When it becomes clear that the authorities are unable or unwilling to do more than a token investigation Liza arrives at the town of Cougar Falls to find out for herself. Cougar shifter Winter is tasked with dealing with Liza by her murderous alpha, but she quickly realizes that Liza is her mate and things are going to have to change.

Cougars who are actually cougars! This is fun, if quite dark considering what has been happening with the disappearances in this small town.

Crimson Desires - K.L. Bone ★★★★☆
Turned vampire Yelena is a medical researcher who refuses to drink from humans. Born vampire Suzette is 1,000 years old and has never experienced love, until she meets Yelena who's her fated mate. But a relationship between two women of different vampiric stations, is a problem for the ancient vampire clans.

I thought this story and world-building had the most promise of any of the collection, and I'd be interested to read more either following these protagonists or other people in this world, but I found the Suzette character to be a bit creepy and her whole attitude towards humans to be ambiguous at best.

Elda’s Zephyr - Renee Hewett ★★★☆☆
Vampires and fae/wolf shifters live in a fragile peace, put at risk when a vampire and a fae/wolf shifter discover they are fated mates.

While I enjoyed the characters here, this is easily the worst written and edited story of the anthology.

Hot for Her Bear - Ariel Marie ★★★★★
In a world where the paranormal coexists openly with human society a human woman returns to her small Montana town to start an ice cream shop. Her best friend's sister, a bear shifter, realizes that she is her fated mate and the two begin a relationship.

This is the steamiest story in the collection with the chemistry of the leads off the charts. The drama in it is simple though, coming from another bear shifter who won't take no for an answer.

A Daughter of Eternity.
Life everlasting gained only by the steepest of price paid by those who catch my eye.
I’ve wandered the Earth for longer than I care to admit, finding nothing meaningful in the place before the last or the one after.
Only seeing emptiness among the beauty of the world around me.
Times are changing, and it seems that I’ll need a companion soon.
It’s becoming a necessity.
I’ll find the strongest among those that wander around me, never realizing how truly close they are to oblivion.
Willfully blind to the danger that watches them from the shadows.
When the time comes, I’ll make another like me. One worthy of the gift I’m willing to bestow.
Strong, purposeful, dangerous—a beautiful decimator claiming those that they may see fit, moving on from one to the next.
That’s when I’ll become something different.
A Mother to Death.

This anthology with 4 authors is great. Only 2 author was known to me beforehand but I loved all the stories contained. Vampires and shifters finding their mates and love is one of my fave tropes. All 4 stories are well written and engaging.

Historias cortas románticas de criaturas sobrenaturales ligeras para pasar el rato.

🌀Cougar Woods - Tiana Warner

Shifter leopardos asesin*.

♨️ Elda's Zephyr - Renee Hewett

La “divertida” de la antología. Va de una Vampire y una hada-shifter que se enamoran en un café. Me pareció curioso pero muy corta, por lo que no te atrapa, y evita que empatices o te interesen las protagonistas con su happy ending.

🌀 Hot for Her Bear - Ariel Marie

Cougar Woods: 4.5/5 I really liked it except the age gap is a little grimacey for me 🙁 like a 20 year old and a 40 year old??? that's just ... idk age gaps are ick to me when the younger person is less than 25...!! But otherwise this was sooo funny and well written, I really enjoyed it.

Crimson Desires: 4.5/5 I liked this a lot ohhh my god VAMPIRES!!!!! YASSS !!!! It's obviously a novella and thus short butttt some plot points felt too convenient but that doesn't feel like a valid gripe almost...?

Elda's Zephyr: 3/5 I did not care EXCEPT that the sunshine/grumpy was cute and I like both leads. Glad it was short!

Hot for her Bear: 2.5/5 something about this I really did not like. but I DID like the leads! And the struggle shown constantly on one of the character's shifting nature 👍 unfortunately I like mates a whole lot less when the word is dropped about ten times a page.

Overall I really liked this collection and had a lot of fun reading it. Unfortunately it feels ordered from best to ... not the best (but not worst?? it was still okay) so I started losing steam to read it. Cougar Woods was MAGNIFICENT except for what I mentioned. I thought it was really cheeky.

I always love reading anthologies. So tell me that an anthology is full of paranormal romances between women and you have all of my attention. Like of course I was going to read this anthology, it seems like it was made specifically for me.

Cougar Woods by Tiana Warner
Rating: 3 stars

Blurb: Liza’s brother went missing. She tracked him to a small town called Cougar Woods. There, she is absolutely fascinated with a woman named Winter. But Winter’s is a shifter and her pack doesn’t allow dating. They end up falling in love regardless.

Themes: Cougar shifters, fated mates

My thoughts:
Liza and Winter were such a good couple. I just really enjoyed reading the relationship between them. I loved how they were attracted to each other at first glance and then they started a friendship with each other. All of their interactions were a lot of fun to read about and I really enjoyed them.

These two were just so sweet together and it was an absolute joy to read their interactions. And I really liked how they got together, it was just super cute and lovely to read about.

The set up for this story was super fun. I really liked how the forbidden aspect of their love was done, since they couldn’t date because of pack rules. It was just such a good concept and I really enjoyed reading about it.

I really liked reading about the cougar shifters tribes. They had a lot of rules and they were super strict on them and it made it super enjoyable to read. I thought that it gave a super fun dimension to the story because I just wanted to learn more and more about the tribe.

This story was set on Vancouver Island and I just adored the setting. The island was described in so many details and it was just so great to read them all. The setting was just so nicely described and it brought so much life to the story, I really enjoyed it.

Sadly, I just felt like this story took on too many themes to truly have enough time to develop them all in the page length of the story. I just wanted a lot more details for a lot of events in this story.

But I still really enjoyed this one and it was super sweet.

Crimson Desires by K.L. Bone
Rating: 3 stars
Blurb: Yelena is a doctor who was tuened into a vampire 60 years ago and she’s really struggling with the fact that she has to drink people’s blood to survive. She meets Suzette, a 2 000 years old vampire that can teach her many things about life and how to be a vampire. They fall in love through it all.
Themes: Vampires, fated mates

My thoughts:
I really enjoyed the romance in this one. This had a super sweet meet cute and a lot of pining and them describing how lovely the other is and that really worked for me.

I really liked reading about Yelena’s struggles with being a vampire. Not only was this a super original topic that I haven’t seen much before, it was also done in such an enjoyable to read way.

This story had some really hot smut and I absolutely adored those scenes.

I really enjoyed the plot in this story. It was complex and pretty well developed. But mostly it was just a lot of fun to read about and it had a lot going for it, in a good way.

But sadly, I just feel like the author tried to take on too many themes at the same time and that the story was too charged in content, that it overshadowed the romance for me. I would have prefered this story to have less plot and more romance.

Elda’s Zephyr by Renee Hewett
Rating: 4 stars
Blurb: Elda is a vampire. She is fascinated by the barista at her favourite café, a half fae half wolf shifter. Their romance is forbidden, but they cannot stop falling in love with each other.
Themes: Vampire and fae, forbidden romance

My thoughts:
I just really enjoyed this story. This had every themes I wanted to be reading about and the execution was lovely.

I really liked the we cannot be together but we cannot resist each other vibes in this story. There was so many scenes like that and they all worked lovingly for me. Those vibes just added such a good element to the story and I really enjoyed it.

I really loved the romance in this. This story was just so swoony. This had so much pining, which I adored. But also it just had so much good vibes. The romance in this book was just so sweet and a joy to read about.

I really enjoyed the plot in this one. The forbidden aspect was super well crafted and added a lot of dynamic to the romance. It made it so that the characters had to fight to be able to go together and that was really fun to read for me.

Overall, this was just such an enjoyable stories. The vibes were super fun and the plot was well crafted and super cute.

Hot for Her Bear by Ariel Marie
Rating: 3 stars
Blurb: Saffron is obsessed with her best friend’s older sister, Dasha, who is a grizzly shifter. They end up realizing that they are made for each other.
Themes: Bear shifter and a human mate

My thoughts:
I really liked the pairing in this one. Saffron was super sweet and good and Dasha was good but very grumpy. They fit together super well and I loved seeing their interactions. Their dynamic just made their interactions super fun to read.

I really liked how this story was done. The pacing was super good and it made the story super enjoyable to read. This story just had the right amounts of everything, a good romance, super cute couple interactions, hot steamy scenes. It had all it and I enjoyed it all, very much so.

As much as I enjoyed the romance in this one, which is a lot, I just didn’t really care for the side plot. It was a little too long for me and overshadowed the romance, which I didn’t really enjoy.

There are several stores in this anthology. They involve paranormal and human love and how are the facts of people involved. There are witches and vampires. Shapeshifter and human beings all with feelings of love. I like the stories and they tell a good story of paranormal love. I recommend this book for all who like different kinds of love stories.

I see the appeal, it just wasn’t for me…

While I wanted to absolutely love this, I only loved certain parts and rarely the stories as whole pieces. Some aspects were confusing; I know it’s am anthology but I wanted more fleshed out stories.
