Book is easy and simple to read. Very very relevant in current context. Provides an insider and first hand perspective to the problem. A must must read in today's times. May shatter many myths.

Absolutely must read book by one of the most respect Indian Police officers to serve in the IPS. A study on police behaviour and the their role in dealing with communal riots, based on meticulous research of 10 major communal riots in India that took place between 1931 and 1991, it is an invaluable guide to the very partial and biased role played by key parts of the state when dealing with communal conflagrations. On reading this its easy to understand how episodes like the 2002 Godhra riots could have occurred.
