When She Wakes, She Will Move Mountains: 5 Steps to Reconnecting With Your Wild, Authentic Inner Queen

Rate this book
'Ancient Archetype Wisdom' for the Modern Woman.

We are all born full of potential to be whomever we would like to be and have the life that we choose. However, many women become trapped in the roles that they have been handed by others and feel overshadowed by the ‘mountains’ (obstacles born from conditioning) in their lives.
We are led to believe that we have to fit in our culture’s narrow view of whom they think that we are. Many a woman when contemplating her life, has thought, “there has to be something more!” and has then felt so stuck because she has no idea where to start or how to make this happen for herself.
We are so much more powerful than we give ourselves credit for.
Through her unique blend of storytelling, poetry and archetype work, Tanya Valentin guides you on an epic journey as you explore how you can use Ancient Archetype wisdom to unlock the treasure that is YOU in all your magnificence.

Tanya Valentin is a neuro-affirming family coach, writer, and the founder of From Burnout to Balance, a global community supporting parents of neurodivergent children and teens in burnout.

Her work sits at the intersection of nervous system science, low-demand parenting, and deep, compassionate reflection. She supports parents to move away from pressure, urgency, and self-blame and toward safety, connection, and trust, both within their families and within themselves.

Tanya’s approach is shaped not only by her professional background in education and facilitation but by her lived experience of parenting through profound burnout, grief, and uncertainty.

It was in these seasons that she began to question the cultural stories many of us have inherited about parenting, productivity, and worth, and to gently reimagine what care can look like when we centre our humanity.

She is the author of Tiny Anchors: Small Moments of Care for Parents in Burnout, and the creator of the Tiny Anchors framework, small, steady moments of support designed to meet parents where they are, especially in the long, invisible middle of burnout recovery. Her work has reached thousands of families around the world through her writing, podcasting, workshops, and community spaces, such as her global community, From Burnout to Balance.

At the heart of everything she creates is a simple belief: That parenting was never meant to be carried alone and that healing happens, slowly and safely, in spaces where we are truly held.

Tanya lives in New Zealand with her family, where she continues to write, reflect, and walk alongside parents navigating the complexities of neurodivergent family life.

When She Wakes, She Will Move Mountains is a powerhouse of a book.

While I haven't worked through all of the exercises just yet, I have read through and started with Maiden.
I can tell that these exercises and stories are going to be so healing for me. I believe this can also serve as a wonderful manual for Women's Circle leaders, such as myself, and I feel like the author has written with that in mind - as a circle leader herself.

I can't wait to work through all of these exercises, and to dive even deeper into each of the archetypes. While I'm familiar with all of them I haven't given them equal attention and this book seems to be a gentle way; a foundational start to heal yourself from all the wounds and stories that women/femmes have encountered in our lives.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this book. In full disclosure, I couldn't quite follow the maiden/mother/queen sections but it was still a great book nonetheless. I love the integration of theory into practical applications and the consistent confronting of the cultural values that keep women small.

This book was not one to rush through and I know I will read it again giving the time it deserves to each chapter, each activity, each reflection that it prompts. I found myself bookmarking so many pages that I will now go back and read it again taking in each chapter in a slower way to do some self reflection and document in the journal as she suggested. She has opened my mind to explore many parts of my past that I haven’t thought about in a long long time and now will do the work to connect the dots and see where it takes me. I enjoyed the stories that were told throughout the book and found that her insight connected for me on many levels.

I would highly recommend this book.

This book is brimming with powerful anecdotes and metacognitive journaling exercises. Some were fun, some were challenging, and most were deeply emotional. It took me over two months to work through this book, which for me is an unspeakably long time. I've filled more journal pages in the last two months than I have in the past decade.
My one critique for this book is the amount of typos and errors. There were a lot. I fully understand that mistakes can be found in every book and I'm positive that there are going to be some typos in this very review. However, there were so many in here that it got distracting at times.

Overall, though, this book was wonderful, empowering, and enlightening!

Planning on a thorough re-read next year.
This was amazing. There are so many aspects of womanhood we have yet to unlock. This is a wonderful guide to finding your inner warrior woman and will help me, as an author, create more fully rounded, authentic female characters.
