Very entertaining, fast-paced story with good chemistry between the main characters and fun, witty dialogue.
The mystery plot may not have been mind blowing, but it didn’t really need to be, and it did its job of providing an interesting background for the developing relationship between the characters. The romance was compelling and sexy, so all in all this book was a very pleasant read.
I do have minor issues with the resolution of the story, as in some things didn’t make a lot of sense to me. *spoilers ahead* I didn’t understand why Nines’ boss seemed to be more preoccupied with the fact that a human knew about vampires than with catching the actual murderer, resulting in Nines and Gabriel having to face the twins on their own (which I guess was the point, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense in-universe that he had to go to the rescue without any backup from the highly powerful organization he worked for). And then, after the case was solved, she was still adamant that Nines had to kill Gabriel to protect the secrecy of vampire society, which in my humble opinion is a terrible idea, considering Gabriel is a cop and his death was sure to attract a lot more unwanted attention towards them than letting him live. Her actions felt a little bit forced, as if the author wanted to make her the bad guy on purpose so that Nines had a reason to call his brother. Which is valid, but it didn’t feel organic to me.
