YEE-HA! KERRANG! Look out—here come the three little ninja piglets!
Everyone knows the story of The Three Little Pigs . But these are not your ordinary, polite pigs from the familiar fairytale. These are three ninja piglets. They are heading your way and they are trouble with a capital T. All is not as is seems in this high-energy, high-kicking, highly amusing picture book.
My initial thought was that this would be the three little piglets story, but then instead of normal piglets these were ninja piglets. I was hoping for an epic wolf to be a worthy enemy of the piglets. But then I started reading this book and quickly found out that this book was sooooo much more than just the three little pigs story. It encompasses a lot of different stories. We see Red Riding Hood (and a part of the story), we meet Cindy (or Cinderella), we say hi to Rapunzel, Pinocchio and even the Emperor (he has a clothing store, of course) is there. And several others. It was a delight to see the pigs go to those houses/places, and that we meet all those characters.
Of course we also have a big bad wolf, though in this one, instead of eating the pigs, he is making sure they get in trouble for stuff he did. Our pigs won't stand for it, because they didn't do anything, and well... read the story to find out what they do to get back to the wolf. It is hilarious, and I loved the solution/plan at the end.
The book made me laugh, it made me squeal in happiness to see other characters from stories. The art was lovely and fitting the book perfectly. And just the idea of the ninja pigs, oh brilliance!
Great illustrations. This book had so much promise but it ended up being a big mash up of fairy tales that I would hesitate reading to a much younger child who was unfamiliar with the fairytales. However it would be fine for kids that are highly familiar with the fairytales that are referred to.
Today We Did The Big Bad Wolf is up to his tricks, messing up this, and breaking that. The Three Ninja Pigs keep getting the blame for his antics. Will they be able to put a stop to the Big Bad Wolf’s villainy?
The three little pigs have had a make-over, as ninjas! They twirl, they jump and they Hee-ya! And they are totally adorable in this exciting twist to an old tale. My four year old boys loved The Three Ninja Pigs, requesting multiple re-reads.
This story was great fun and the illustrations were bright and interesting. The Wolf really was being quite naughty, creating chaos at every stop. My boys thought the mess he created was funny, and they enjoyed pointing to things that had been broken or knocked down. They also laughed at where the Ninja Pigs ended up after each encounter with the Wolf, such as stuffed in a vase, or hanging from the ceiling. We liked spotting the various fairytale characters through the book, such as Little Red Riding Hood and the troll under the bridge.
The Three Ninja Pigs is suitable for toddlers, preschoolers and lower primary school children.
This is a fun addition to any collection of re-imagined or fractured fairy tales. In this story the three ninja pigs get into all sorts of trouble with a variety of other familiar fairy tale characters, but they're not to blame - it's actually the Big Bad Wolf who's setting them up! How do they prove it to their family? This story has lots of cameos from various fairy tales and a few creative, original twists!
I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to read this today, and I think it's absolutely fantastic. The story is wonderful, the images are excellent and I think children will love it! Great job David Bedford and Becka Moor!
I love pigs. I have so many in my bed that there’s not a lot of room left for me. There’s Piggly Wiggly, Bacon, Sausage, Ham, Pork, Pigster, Wibbly and loads more. I wish you could buy teddy pigs of the Three Ninja Pigs because I really liked this book.
I liked the Three Ninja Pigs because they went around the town on skateboards and tried to sneak up on the wolf and I liked how they were dressed. They had to try and stop the wolf from causing trouble around the town because everyone thought it was them doing it. The ending was funny.
My favourite part that made me laugh really loud was when the yellow Ninja Pig ended up with a bra on his head! That bit was so funny! The pictures in the book are all really colourful and I liked looking at them to spot all the funny things I could find.
If you like stories that will make you laugh then I think you will really like this one. I like reading it again and again, my favourite person to read it to is my mum.
