43-Last Unicorn-IRL: Sela and Shang are trying to save the last unicorn because of its power. Belinda and Baba Yaga intervene and end up conquering/killing the unicorn.
44-Devil's Brother-IRL: Fenton is the sidekick to the devil. He made a deal with the devil during the civil war that if he served the devil he would have all he ever wanted in life. So now he is the devil's sidekick. The devil wants to bring in "Cindy". Volac is also introduced as someone who also once served the devil.
45-Devil's Brother pt2/Cinderella Revisited- IRL: Cindy is visited by Fenton and says she owes the devil everything. Fenton shows Cindy a sword that is made with half of a unicorn horn. He tells Cindy is no longer with them as part of their team. And Cindy is going to help kill her. They then show up at the Devil's mansion in Vegas. Belinda and Baba Yaga are mad that Devil's gang has the unicorn horn and that Baba Yaga did not kill him when she had the chance. They teleport in time back to the Sinbad era...to be continued in Sinbad crossover. Next, Sela and Shang discuss the events of the old world and the end of the world. In order to stop the end of the world, Sela and Shang must travel back to the realm of faeries. They must say goodbye to Samantha first( the girl she sacrificed herself for in the ice kingdom)
46-Godfather Death- IRL: a boy has lost his family and Fenton asks him if he wishes he had the power over life and death even with the great burden it holds. A long time ago a highborn who did not know he was highborn was gifted a ring that supposedly told him who he could bring back to life. He disobeyed the ring and therefore death and brought back people who he should not have. He was then killed. Fenton was gifted the ring and asked what will they do now since there is no power over life and death. Death tells him there will be someone else. Also, Belinda was involved because she poisoned someone for death to test the highborn.
47-Devils Gambit- IRL: back to Cindy the devil and Fenton. Cindy with her sword "carnage" has just shown the devil and Fenton she is a power to be reckoned with. The devil tells her a story of how the goat became the devil's symbol. And something about Pinnochio is now the devil's warrior? Another story is told of Orcas. He promised a farmer bountiful crops if he would give in return 7 flowers. Well, the flowers were the farmer's daughters. The last daughter was Alexa (the Sela from before). She was rescued by Shang and they were married. The rest of the daughters came back home and Orcas was forced out of the kingdom. Ends with the devil saying you will have your vengeance very soon to Orcas.
48- Good Witch- IRL: Tells the story of how Samantha escaped after Sela sacrificed herself for her. It seems like Samantha has had the power all along. Her mother had a one-night stand. The guy left her with a necklace with stones from each realm. Samantha says it is like they are connected to the elements. She is gifted a wand. She finally reaches this house where Shang is and tells her part of her heritage is hearing others' thoughts. Sela Shang and Nissa the faerie leave and tell Samantha she is in charge of protecting the Earth realm as Sela's replacement. Now it is up to Sela to conquer Belinda, Shang to conquer orcas, and Nissa to conquer the dark one aka the devil.

This collection of stories from the ongoing Grimm Fairy Tales series is a mixed bag. There are some thoughtfully deep Jungian moments, alternating with cheesy fan-service...such as the evil Cindy, who looks like a cheerleader from hell, but is just so cute after she's eviscerated someone...No, really, some of the stories play it like that, and after a while that becomes annoying. Still, that's the market that Zenescope is playing to with this series, which is really too bad.
When they choose to tell a version of one of the traditional tales, they do it well. "Grandfather Death" is one featured in this volume, not as well known as some of the other tales collected by Perrault or the Brothers Grimm, because it's such a dark tale. This book handles it well, though, as the character is torn between honor and love, as in the original.
The rest of this volume is mainly stories building toward a big showdown which was rather disappointing. Up until that point, the story was better and more interesting.
One other minor quibble...the editor or the letterer for Zenescope really needs to learn that commas are not inherently evil, and can in fact be used for good. Too often, the reader has to figure out where the comma really ought to have been. To paraphrase a famous T-shirt:
"Let's eat grandma" is not the same as "Let's eat, grandma"

I am getting a little confused here, as there are plenty of things linking back and forth. It's an OK series, but again there is so much fan service. That's my main complaint with most of Zenoscopes publications. The story is also really convoluted at times. It's not a bad story, though it does kinda drag, and this feels like a different story to the first few, which were retellings of classics fairy tales, where as this just titles some chapters after them.
As with the others, library rather than buy unless you love em, unlike me!

There are two significant changes that depart from previous installments. The authors concentrated heavily on the metaplot and the war of the highborns against the rebel evil one and its minions. They ceased to use the marvelous compared mythic stories that built the series. Make no mistake; I don't dislike the metaplot, but it should be built in stories like in the entire series till this point. Just as an example even the final battle could have similarities with “Ragnarok” (SPOILER BEWARE – even the death of a main God like Odin would have a similarity with the portrayed events in this volume – END OF SPOILER). So the authors lost one of the main characteristics/strengths of the series.

The other was the astonishing art. Yes, quite sexy and titillating, but it was very well illustrated and colored, it had taste and was a main asset for the series. In my opinion the art in this volume is frankly below the average for the series. That doesn’t mean that the artists don’t have quality (some of them have great published work), but in this product they didn’t delivered (time pressure or other issues might had led to this situation).

So with those two strengths of the series gone in this volume, even the sometimes very interesting plot seems rushed with many new important characters introduced. It’s difficult to flesh them out this way. They also introduced new side-series which you’ll need to consult to understand fully some events of the ongoing story; they might think that’s a nice marketing tool (and it usually works) but it’s also very annoying.

You will find the following stories in this compilation: The last Unicorn; The Devil's brother; Cinderella revisited; Godfather Death (this one has a very interesting twist); The Devil's Gambit; The Good Witch; Myst; Hard Choices; Pool party at the Rock Hard hotel.

The cover gallery is still very good with works by artists such as Mike DeBalfo, Joe Pekar, Al Rio, Pasquale Qualano, Ale Garza, Franchesco, Steven Cummings, Eric Basaldua, Angel Medina, Gabriel Rearte, among others.

After 50 issues, this comic takes a stab at connecting loose threads from a number of different sources to pull the series into a cohesive whole of some kind. It kind of sort of works if you squint at it just right. Reviewing these stories is a bit like reviewing the articles in Playboy, and it'll leave you asking similar questions like: is there value in trash? I'm still undecided on that one.

It's probably more interesting that these comics exist than it is to sit down and read them. This was something (still is, I guess) that the publishing world and fandom spaces, etc. allowed to thrive. Someday when all the gatcha games and the PSA slabs and the variant covers have been laid to rest in the great rubbish bin in the sky, our descendants won't know what to make of any of this. Like a Dan Brown book, they're easy to read and easy to feel like you're better than, but you're not better than them: you're part of the audience just like everyone else. I theoretically hate them, but then I keep reading to see just how bad they can be, so what does that say about me?

Biraz mola verip bir şeyler yazmak istedim.
Seri nereden nereye geldi be... Once Upon A Time'dan hallice oldu.

Oh the ending of this! I'd forgotten how sad this ending was! And no, not the pool party short story, I mean the actual ending in issue #50. I feel like there was a lot of lead up to this one, and a lot of jumping around to other books if you have them available to read (mostly Different Seasons and the Sinbad Crossover), but it all comes to together to this point. I wish I could say more but I don't want to spoil things. But I will say it's a great volume to read.

For the First time in the eighth volume there were almost no Fairy Tales but the fight for the survival of all the realm.

My dream of being a writer is realized and I am now a Goodreads Author. I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. Doga is one of my most favorite character and I love him to bits and don't leave any chance to devour any of his stories. So here goes again my mission to read as many Raj comics from the beginning. My childhood re-run. I love reading this and more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

Volume 8 features a collection of that's very different from the earlier volumes - rather than being renditions of fairy tales (there's two less well-known fairy tales, I think), it's mostly filled with issues that deal with the build-up for the Dark Horde, back stories, and the clash between the good guys and (multiple) bad guys. It does feature a big finale where a whole bunch of characters get killed off and then a twist that's sort of a game changer. Overall, it's not too bad, but I think the fairy tales is where this series really shines. The overarching plot still feels messy to me.

Art-wise, it's mostly what you'd expect from this series. If you liked them, there's nothing to complain here. If you found them overly gratuitous, you'll find the same here. I just have an issue with one the issues (pun intended), Myst, where the artwork was quite bad compared to the rest.

I have to say that I really and truly enjoy Zenescope's series Grimm Fairy Tales and and all the various spinoffs (Neverland, Piper, etc). Unless something major happens I will continue to follow this series. My one and only gripe with it is the unnecessary and gratuitous sexuality and objectification of women within the pages. It truly has no place within the story. Now I am by no means a prude but they don't even try to give it purpose. They are no better than the creators over at the bigger publishers (Marvel, DC). This is why this series will never reach the greatness that is Bill Willingham's Fables. Nothing is done without purpose. And he knows that his story is so good that he doesn't need clichéd tropes like massive mammaries and barely there clothing.

This is where the series is beginning to do down a little. I was confused some of the time because characters would go off and do things that are explained in other side stories not published in these volumes. And there's really not many fairytales in this volume. It's all the plot of good versus evil, with some tales here and there as examples, whereas before the center point was the tales. I'm hoping for some more of the latter in the next volumes.

Pretty much this entire volume centers on the fight between Belinda and the one she serves, along with others that serve him, and Sela and the ones who fight on the side of good. It's a major, bloody battle which has an ending for the battle, but not for the war.

There's also one other unrelated story and a cover gallery.

Different cover, but these ones are very confusing. There's also an alternate cover for Vol 1--maybe because there are alternate individual issue covers? Hmm. Annoying.
