One of the worst books I've ever read. Dan is copying another famous (worth reading, unlike him) copywriters and authors. I'm really sorry for people like Dan because they have sick ego and they are not aware of it at all. He probably wrote this book just to leave some trace in this world not thinking about quality at all. If someone reads this book after all, just don't get mad because you've lost some precious time reading about his braggings and glorifying his ego.
If you ask me, this book and it's author should be avoided in any case.
Nothing really new here, and no fresh content or ideas. I'll sum up the entire book here: Make lots of money online so that you can tell people to FU! Sign up for my website (Dan Lok)
I like Lok's videos, but this book.... What a shame But he has some cool advices that he wrote: "Money is replaceable. Time is NOT. The seconds you used up reading this paragraph are gone forever. You can't get them back."
and 5 pages later "I absolutely hate it when people waste my time. It's worse than stealing money from me." and then repeats the first quote... The same way he does the entire book.
Unfortunately this book is only Dan bragging and a massive ego trip. A huge funnel to make you buy his courses filled with psychological tricks to make you guilty. If you don't go to my page it only shows that you're not made for this type of stuff.
There's a chapter called Are you being scammed Writes a few words but doesn't say absolutely anything valuable about the tittle.
Please do yourself a favor a read a real book. The are pleeenty of them. Because in this one is Dan (The Man....) is only "Me me me me me"
I'm prety sure Dan knows his stuff. And on youtube he's able to show it off. At least I buy it, and take a lot of value of some of his videos. But reading this... thing... made me unsubscribe and keep my distance from this Man. Can't really trust a guy that publishes a book like this, and bought ratings..
Unfortunately, this book is just a big compilation of advices from various sales and business experts. On social media, Dan Lok is known for plagiarizing content and repackaging them as his own, which makes this book the quintessence to describe Dan Lok as a person. From my experience, this book really amplifies unrealistic dreams of living in pure luxury by encouraging you to write down all the things you ever dreamed of owning on the blank spaces of a few chapters. You and I know exactly that this book will never teach you how to get the things you've written down which is why you should buy his $2000 course on how to get rich.... right..
Another odd factor of this book are the so called "Lokism" quotes that are written on most pages. This "Lokism" is allegedly founded by Dan Lok through his wisdom as if he is some divine creature or a rip off version of Lao Tzu.
Not much teaching about opportunities you can take, mostly in this book consist of backstory and also psychology understanding of business and money, yet this book contains contradictions Have to be improve on points and teach people how to analyze their financial conditions and also options they can take to grow their money. All these points given from Dan isn't really much practical especially ignoring to learn or do if you don't like to do it. Other hand his Youtube channel is more enriching compare to this.
Very honest book about the path to become rich! the last last chapter to me was more like a biography, which some of them he mention in YouTube, but a little more in detail. Overall it was a very good book, but you must tolerate the swearing and rough language! The contents are the gold after all!
I haven’t read this book and I won’t, but I keep seeing ads for it on YouTube offering it for free which suggests it is terrible. Also, all business books are the same regurgitated nonsense; so, 1 star, burn all copies.
He upsells you constantly on high ticket closer nonsense and tries to sell you on some dream that the secret to gaining FU money is spending money you don't have (not in a business setting) because "I don't want to be a cheap bastard"
This is the best book for people who keep jumping from one business to another. This is a must read for any entrepreneur.
FU Money Book Summary : *Spoiler Alert*
Part 1: The F.U. Money Lifestyle
Most people don’t do what they really want to do. They do what someone else wants them to do.
You can’t hit a target you can’t see.
Two proven ways to make your f.u. money:
1. The Slow Way: Build a Big Nest Egg
2. The FAST Way: Automated Income Vehicles
Forget Passive Income
Plain and simple: it doesn’t work.
Money is a medium of value exchange. So when you strive to make money and no longer have to work at the same time, passive income, part of what you’re really hoping for is to get something for free. Know this, in order to get something you first need to give.
The desire for completely passive income is also rooted in the need for completion.
We all think there’s this magical time in the future where we can finally just relax and be happy. But it’s not coming. So cultivate gratitude for every moment, if for no other reason but it’s just another moment you’re alive.
Part 2: The F.U. Money Myths –Eight Myths That Are Keeping You From Making Your F.U. Money.
The Money Myths
These are all the myth what we think rational or watered down half-truths that you were fed as a child by people who didn’t even know what they were talking about. They are:
1) “Money Can’t Buy Happiness”.
Maybe true and yet this idea somehow gets twisted into the idea that you shouldn’t make money at all.
Money buys you time–and time translates to the freedom to pursue happiness and personal growth, the freedom to help others, and the freedom to do whatever you damn well please.
Change doesn’t come without pain.
Money is the root of all good.
2) “Rich People Are Assholes”.
Breed from envy and jealousy.
If you don’t like the rich, you can forget about ever becoming one of us (Them).
Banks don’t get robbed by those of us pulling up in a limousine or Rolls Royce.
If you’re a jerk, more money will just make you a bigger jerk. If you’re a nice person, more money will make you a nicer person.
3) “You Can Afford To Wait”.
Who wants to wait till they’re old to be rich?
Making huge sums of money consistently requires a set off skills.
4) “You Have To Be Lucky To Be Rich”.
Poor and uninspired mentality this is one of the main reason why people fail.
You don’t just get rich. You must earn the right to be rich.
5) “You Have To Be A Cheapskate”.
Not in abundance, in order to get something you first need to give.
It’s easier to make MORE money than it is to spend less.
Focus on generating dollars, not pinching pennies.
Most people save their way to bankruptcy.
I refused to be poor even when I was broke.
6) “You Have To Get Rich Slow”.
Wrong, People get rich fast all the time.
Money is attracted to speed.
Rich people are entrepreneurs who invest.
You can’t be a millionaire with fifty-thousand dollars- a-year habits.
7) “You Have To Work Hard To Make Money”.
Also wrong, for many people money is easy.
Don’t just work hard, work hard at working smart.
Leverage is Maximum productivity with minimum effort.
8) “You Have To Be Perfectly Ready”.
It’s a lie because you never are.
Rich people make themselves do what they don’t know how to do– until they do know how to do it.
Business is the ultimate school of learning.
Ideas aren’t worth shit unless acted upon.
Part 3: The F.U. Money Mindset
The secret to wealth is committing to ONE idea over time.
Don’t take advice from broke people on how to get rich.
It doesn’t matter what the morons say.
Do the opposite of what everyone else does and you will almost always succeed.
You have to be a little “weird “to make your f.u. money.
If your life stinks, it’s your own damn fault.
Every business is a reflection of its owner.
if you can’t find good people to help you, maybe you’re not a good person
There are three kinds of people:
1) People who wait for things to happen
2) People who make things happen
3) People who wonder what the fuck just happened.
You can’t have the glory if you don’t have the guts if you set a goal.
Fortune favours the bold.
The rich do what is hard; that’s why their life is easy. Poor people do what’s easy; that’s why their life is hard.
Self-esteem is the foundation of all success.
Nothing great was ever achieved by timid people.
You can care about other people without caring what they think.
Confidence comes from competence.
You can’t be of ANY value to others until you first value yourself.
The amount of money you make is closely related to your self-image.
Life ain’t fair. Business ain’t fair. People ain’t fair. Get over it!
Hitting your daily income goal is your number one priority every day. Everything else is bullshit.
Nobody is allowed to insult you without your permission. Nobody is allowed to say anything bad about you without your agreement.
You’ll become effective only by being selective.
Poor people get paid AFTER they do the work.
Rich people get paid BEFORE they do the work.
When you don’t need money, it comes to you faster, easier, and quicker than you ever thought possible.
Needy is creepy.
How you use your time ultimately determines how much money you make.
Rich people value time. Poor people value stuff.
It’s better to be really good at one thing than average at a bunch of things.
“Do what you love and the money will follow” is a lie. It should be:
“Learn to love the activities that are capable of producing the largest sum of money – then the money will follow!”
You can sell people on doing business with you on your terms, as long as they know what’s in it for them.
Your number one job each and every day is to do everything you can to drive more revenue and profit into your business.
Distraction is the only true luxury of poor people.
Laser-beam focus is mandatory for success.
Part 4: The F.U. Money Business
Most people don’t want the truth.
They’re just looking for things that sound good.
All wealth schemes have the fatal flaw of taking YOU out of the equation.
Definition of a F.U. Money millionaire: a person with a vision who orchestrates other people time, talents, and money to make his or her vision a reality.
It’s not just HOW MUCH money you make; it’s HOW you make the money.
I am smart enough to know I am NOT THAT smart.
If you spend your entire life working on your weaknesses, at the end of your life, you’ll have a lot of strong weaknesses.
Suck your business dry like a vampire. Take money out all the way. If your business can’t make it without money, then your business probably can’t make it with money.
Life and time are the same things. If you’re wasting your time, you’re wasting your LIFE.
If you don’t toot your own horn, no one will toot it for you.
Every problem is a product.
There is no easier, faster, and more certain way to create massive wealth in record time than the Internet.
One conversation can change your life forever.
If you could get there on your own, you would already be there.
Never, ever get paid based on hours worked.
Make your first sale online before worrying about getting rich.
The ideas you think will work best often fail. The dumb and crazy ideas you threw out there just for the hell of it often produce the biggest results.
Failure is a resource. It helps you find the edge of your capacities.
Your intimate understanding of your market and core businesses the number one ingredient to become rich.
Let other people and “things” make money for you.
Stop throwing good money into profit draining projects. Real commitment is commitment with a formal structure.
Exactly the kind of book that gets you nodding in agreement and rethinking many of the concepts you held. I could do this over and over again. I will surely read it again in the near future
I got a free download of this book from Dan Lok's website. I really enjoyed his frankness and speaking voice. He is very direct and has a no nonsense approach. At first I thought I wouldn't like him because of that, but he is very personable and there is something in his delivery that makes him likable. The last 20-30 pages of the book were the best and delivered the most meat. I kept hoping that he would share his personal story in detail with exactly how he started, and he did. If I were editing the book, I'd move at least part of his personal story up front. I appreciated the principles of internet wealth and his willingness to share books and programs that helped him. I downloaded his Influence book and the Scientific Advertising book he shared and tried to find the internet marketing program he talked about, but didn't see it. I also appreciated all the links to his videos and webinar. I've watched most of the videos and plan to watch the webinar as well. I'm giving it four stars instead of five for a few reasons. 1. There are so many spelling mistakes in the ebook, and even some places where it feels like a complete sentence got left out. I can't imagine the print edition made it to the shelf life this. One simple proofread could catch most of them. With all the money he is making, paying someone a few hundred dollars to correct these would be worth it. I'd even be happy to do it. It was a real barrier to his credibility and professionalism for me. I had to get to the end of the book where he shared his personal story before I could start overlooking it. 2. While he did share so much of how he did it, I felt there was something missing in the process. Obviously he can't spell everything out, it's not a coaching session, but I still wanted a little more to the 'how' of making money online. Finally 3. I felt in his writing style and his videos that he is very defensive. I saw a FB ad a few days ago where he was getting a lot of hate under the video, so I'm sure it can't be easy to listen to. I didn't think the hate was warranted, there are just haters out there. I'm not sure if the defensiveness is due to things like that, or a sales method or what, but it was a bit of a turn off for me considering I really started to like him while reading the book. All in all, a good book with lots of good information. I'd recommend and will re-read at some point.
My mother used to say, money doesn't grow on trees. However, money is made from paper and that actually does ...
Dan Lok's "F.U. Money" is a practical book: It starts to ingrain the right mindset for a life in abundance. Wealth might not only be measured in money, but indeed it's a good pointer. As usual, the numbers tell us everything about our lives.
My biggest F.U. Money insights:
* You don't want money, you want the freedom money can buy * Don't focus on the money, focus on the value you create for people * Work on your strengths, outsource your weaknesses * Income is always more important than spendings * You can get rich fast, if you know what you are doing. Allow yourself to get rich fast * Don't be timid! It's okay to make mistakes along the way, in fact expect them * You don't have to work for any customer – you can fire them if you don't get along. Make your life easier * You don't have to work hard to make much money * Set a daily income goal and work on it every day - it's much easier to keep score and achieve success * Never get paid by the hour, get paid by the result * Get paid BEFORE you start to work * Always pay yourself first * Make yourself into a personal brand with a great story. People don't trust companies, they trust people * The market always comes first: What do people really want and how can you give it to them? * Multiple income streams doesn't mean dozens of different businesses, but a variety of businesses in a certain field – one where you have the expertise
Now, there are basically three things you can actually do:
- Just work more, render more services (more value) - Create products so you can be paid again and again (higher value) - Build a business to create services or products (highest value = leverage)
A classic rags-to-riches story, who doesn't love that?
Listened to the audiobook and it was hilarious to me. Dan Lok came from nothing, produced a life he wanted, and basically doesn't work at all. I think this is what makes his story and message unique. He can do more with his business and make more money if he wants to, but he's basically touching it an hour a week and then going off and doing other things.
To create a personal ATM as such is a dream, that is possible because there's actually people doing it every day. Everyone wants to know what "that thing" is, the million-dollar question. The reality is that no one will go and hold your hand through the whole process; you have to build it, you need mentors, you need a plan, it does exist.
That's what Dan Lok's story boils down to in my mind. He speaks a lot about many different mindset tricks that he uses that work just fine for him; some quite extreme. Such as, acting like you're already rich and buying extravagant things to back yourself up against a wall and force you into a production mode. I would never do that, but I understand his point. It's amazing what can happen when you force something into complete necessity, and this is hard to do without real stakes. Some people have done this, where they buy a multi-million dollar penthouse of their dreams when they only have 100k saved up for a down payment. They then somehow scramble around and force themselves to come up with the remaining 900k for a down payment. It's insanity, but hey, if that's what it takes...?
Again, Dan Lok is unique in his unapologetic approach to business, lifestyle, and mindset. Ridiculous at times, maybe brilliant at others, entertaining as an audiobook, and worth it if you keep an open mind.
Dan's Asian voice is a recipe for turning words into cash. Outsourcing is a key to scale. Love his Daily income goal and how he breaks down the value of time.
Nuggets of Truth: I'm a high paid slave trading hours for dollars Health wealth and the time to enjoy it Spanish proverb If you had to start again would you buy your own business from you? I prefer cash in one place...my pocket It's one thing to amke money and it's another to make money and operate on your own terms People fail because of broken focus What are you hoping to get from me today? What would massive action look like? Start a F.U. money business You can make money or excuses but you can't make both Busy growing my business Every business is a reflection of it's owner U don't have to get it right you just have to get it going Dramatically increase your income If it's going to be it's up to me You feel justified in your stupidity I win on 3 levels Don't eat any capital You cannot see causes that lie deeper then the
I love the way Dan Lok's voice comes alive from the text in the pages. There is such an honesty about this book and they way it is compiled.
There are some principles that are known as standard in the business world within this book, but there are some gems and nuggets of counter intuitive nuanced principles that flip the status quo on its head. I think these are the things that stand out from this book. Dan Lok really gives a different perspective on the so called "tried and tested through time" principles, really explaining why they don't work and how doing the opposite makes more sense.
It is really a great read for those wishing not just to change themselves, but rather to transform their mindsets, once that is done everything else will follow. I have learned that mindset is the core that transforms everything else in a persons life.
The author Dan Lok is the real life successful entrepreneur who had applied the 80/20 principle in his life. It is intriguing as the author speak through his self-experience in the book with a non-descriptive but conversational way. The steps to wealthy in Dan Lok way 1)have at least one high income skill(invest ourselves through books, seminars, workshops) 2)Identify the market (do marketing-research on what people want to buy) 3)operate a scalable business( start with low risk business and less money according to the market ) 4)Use internet as the platform. Dan Lok's upmost rule is LEVERAGE 1)Use other people time 2)Use other people energy 3)Use other people knowledge. The book is mostly contain the mindset of a successful person and the a overview on a good business model.
Great book (: rather motivating.. Helped me to breakdown how much my ideal lifestyle money should be annually and I was much less then I expect.. I thought that I'll need like billions and millions but it wasn't (: I think it'd definitely achievable. I look forward to a great life ahead.
It did have some motivating aspects in it and did enjoy it.
However, it is very one-sided and egotistical, which is not necessarily bad or wrong in the context of this book, but it got a bit too much for my taste.
