December has arrived and the festivities have begun. After a bad start, Ava and Luke find themselves being paired together throughout the month, slowly growing closer with each event. When the Christmas Party arrives, things take a turn for the worse. Will they be able to move forwards or will things fall apart before they've begun?
Julie Thorpe has captured so many emotions, reactions, feelings, behaviours that go along with the holidays and anybody who is sick or has a loved one that is sick. I love that Julie can evoke such strong reactions from me. I don't always like Luke's behavior, but he still wins me over in the end.

This was a great quick Christmas read. It definitely kept me in the holiday spirit. Ava is newer to the village and works at the local pub. She stays involved in the village, including volunteering for Christmas festivities. Luke is in town for his mother’s illness with an attitude to match how his mother feels. He is stepping in his mother’s shoes to fulfill her volunteer duties while she recuperates. The moment Luke and Ava meet he is hot and cold with her. She takes it with stride, but she eventually has enough. Neighbors keep pairing them up to volunteer together. There is a spark there, but nothing will progress if he keeps being hot and cold. After some silence from Ava from another outburst, he gets the message. Here’s to a wonderful Christmas with these two.
Is a quick read and for a moment I wasn’t sure that I like Luke, I’m still not sure!!! He made me mad and I know how to hold grudges!! 🤣🤷🏻♀️🤣
Although I can completely understand and get pass when they first met, it was completely unreasonable to blame Ava for what happened! I wanted to shake some sense into Luke…..
As always, with this author’s stories, I felt like the story was to short. Who knows, maybe we’ll see more of Ava and Luke…. *hint, hint* 😉

Luke is dealing with his moms illness & keeps getting tasked to help Ava with various Christmas Festival tasks. They both find themselves attracted to the other. Quite a few conflicts and struggles encountered here but they want to give dating a try. This is a very quick read.
Under the Mistletoe was a very sweet holiday romance. Even through heartache and misunderstandings, Ava and Luke make a cute couple, and I enjoyed watching them being thrown together by matchmakers intent on seeing them get together. A short, sweet romance perfect for reading beside a cozy fire.
Luke is a grumpy man with a lot of worries and stress. Ava is very forgiving and understanding. This is a good Christmas story with excellent characters. Nice story line. Good read.
