In this somewhat strange, completely original volume Peter Quinones invites the reader to try out hundreds of “story openers” with the following question in mind – If you started reading a story, and this was the first sentence, would you want to continue reading?
A sampling of praise for Peter Quinones’ previous

“Very, very unusual book that took me completely by surprise. It is dense, enigmatic, gripping, and simply excellent…” - Sanjin, Amazon Top Contributor
“This delivers a lively, vivid read that’s hard to put down, powered by a protagonist who doesn’t just walk through her life but rocks its foundations.” - Donovan’s Literary Services
This book was an interesting read. At first, I wasn’t sure what to think of it because it’s not your typical book. It’s a bunch of short and long phrases/clips of thoughts that provoke…thoughts. It’s sort of like a comedy show but book-style. Some of the phrases are short and to-the-point while others are longer and requires more dissecting and thinking them out. The variety makes for a very intriguing read.
I found this book to be quite fun to read. You have to take each sentence and phrase lightly. Some of them are truly hilarious and had me laughing, some had me thinking and agreeing, some had me surprised, and some I wasn’t too fond of because they didn’t make sense to me, but I’m pretty sure they’d make sense to others, and that’s what I found likeable about this book. I felt like I could relate to a lot of the situations stated (that I’ve had situation in my life similar to what the author experienced). Also, not all phrases were the author’s personal experiences. Some of them seemed like observations or situations the author heard or was told of. It’s really a collection of human encounters and situations. It’s a bit unusual to describe because it’s very different from what I’ve read.
Planet Q - 120 pages of “story-openers” from insightful to bizarre
The book description on the review site described Planet Q by Peter Quinones as a “somewhat strange, completely original volume …that invites the reader to try out hundreds of “story openers” with the following question in mind – If you started reading a story, and this was the first sentence, would you want to continue reading.”
Accordingly, the reader is presented with one hundred and twenty pages of sentences. Some short and jarring: “Jared is such a puss bag.” “I love plastic cocks, OK? – there, I said it.” Others thoughtful and insightful: “The consequences of your ignorance will become the content of your sorrow.” “A small ailment in one’s fifties is the start of the journey toward death.”
As well as larger rambling polysyndetons, sentences with multiple conjunctions that join multiple independent clauses: “Baysta was in the pet store looking around for joint support soft chews for a small dog but her mind tended to wander and in seconds she saw the good looking male stock boy and she wondered if she were to drop to her knees and give him a blow job in the back aisles among the cans of cat food should she go for the granny mouth, pulling her lips back to create a suction feel?”
“I live my life as I wish, as a wildebeest with excessive blood flowing to my penis, cracked lips with hanging pieces of skin, dragon breath (dental floss is for plebeians), an occasional foray with an expensive nose hair trimming tool, and a Kung Fu action grip on women whose vaginas I crave – you can bet no girl is playing with her cell phone when I’m around.”
Taken into the context presented by the author, that if you started reading a story, and this was the first sentence, would you want to continue reading?” the hundreds of offerings range from intriguing, to witty, with some crossing over to gross, while the majority are bizarre or absurd. Quinones is masterful in his use of language finding humor in contradictions while connecting incongruous subjects to create an alternate reality. Throw in a handful of obscure words and nescience takes over – the reader begins to believe this nonsense has some literary value.
Maybe it does, considering most books consist of pre-determined genre plots populated by stereotypical characters. Planet Q may be flimflam but it’s original, and in that regard deserves credit. Just how much can only be determined by the readers.
Those who enjoy writing and feel as though they are stumped should turn to Planet Q by Peter Quinones. These pages are filled with hundreds, possibly thousands, of potential story openings. From the sensitive, to the macabre, to the disgusting and romantic; there is sure to be an opening within these pages for a struggling writer somewhere in the world. This is a completely different type of book than most readers head to the shelves to discover. There is no flow nor is there an overarching story line. There are no characters that are related to each other. There is no protagonist or antagonist. Instead, the pages boast potential beginnings lost in a sea of words. When I first started to read this book, I had no idea what was going on. My rational brain was trying to make sense of the lines before me and seek out some sort of structure that clearly didn’t exist. I had realized that this would be a book of one-liners, but I suppose I didn’t expect it to be laid out quite like it was. There is no categorization nor is there any sort of grouping. The very first opener is a shock to the system, but I still read on. It is difficult to read the entire thing in one sitting as my mind is constantly trying to find some connection between the openers. There is none that I could find. Perhaps Quinones meant it to be that way, but it is particularly jarring for the reader. This is definitely a book you read when you want to try something completely different from what you’ve ever read before. Even if you aren’t an aspiring writer, this is a potential palate cleanser between genres. Some of the openers are a bit difficult to digest as they are seemingly endless run-on sentences. Some of the openings are quite moving or even though provoking. This collection of writing prompts by Peter Quinones is one of the more unique additions to my bookshelf. Planet Q doesn’t follow any prescribed path or consistent structure. The prompts range from delightful to detrimental and is nothing something I would recommend reading in one shot. However, if you are looking for something outside of ordinary, want to shake up your reading habits and disrupt your typical reading habits, you can’t go wrong with this interesting piece of literature. While this may not appeal to all readers, it will definitely find its niche in the literary world.
Life can sometimes have moments so unbearable that all one would need is the medicine of pure and hearty laughter. Take for instance an individual who views every day as something to celebrate and doesn't take everything too seriously, we need more people like that. We must look around us and appreciate the things we're able to do and opportunities we're able to have, as well as laugh a lot more. The creative minds of. this world is increasing in numbers because everyone has a funny story within them to share.
In "Planet Q," author Peter Quinones has a unique way of story-telling by providing his readers with various scenarios. Some range from a sentence or two to maybe a maximum of two paragraphs. Each story is unique from the other, which displays his talent of offering either comfort or comedy. The comedic aspect keeps the reading experience light while sharing relatable imagery in all sorts of topics. Events that occurred in the past, those most current, and everything else in between are a great way to hook and keep readers engaged. The various topics discussed were mentioned in the most light-hearted attitude, which encourages everyone to think about the serious parts without being cynical. Viewing life and the world from another person's perspective was a plus to this book. As the reader, you would be able to tell the author has lived a fulfilling life, has witnessed interesting things happening in his environment, has done some research to enlighten his readers, and maintains a great sense of humor while doing so.
I enjoyed reading this long short story because neither of the shorter stories was the same. It felt like a rollercoaster experiencing emotions in sporadic ups and downs. I admit to laughing way more than I expected and I went in reading this book without any expectations, to begin with. Peter's words came alive from the first line and I couldn't imagine setting the book down, no matter how hard I tried. This was an absolute page-turner full of the unexpected, most random, and wild stories to date. I'm not sure if I had read any of this author's other works, but I plan to. The author is someone with a lot to say and has managed to do so in this book, without being too winded, simply pure talent. I highly recommend this book to everyone, even if it's for curiosity or a pick me up.
One thing about Peter Quinones is that he will make you laugh no matter your mood. Peter’s creativity in the book, choice of words, and hilarious phrases he shares is enough to lift your spirits high. Planet Q is a comical, fascinating, creative, and entertaining book that both light readers and avid readers will enjoy. Planet Q is a book about story openers. Think about the last book you read. What was the opening line? How did you feel after reading the first line? Did it encourage you to keep reading, or did you stop after the first line? Peter Quinones, in his book, has listed hundreds of story openers that will help any aspiring writer know how to start writing.
The lines in this book are amusing, no doubt. His lines are also poetic. Reading this book, in a way, gets you to feel like you are reading a free-flowing poem. Reading the words in every sentence without stopping makes it even more intriguing. I appreciate the author for compiling the story openers as his work will help many novice authors and students that are passionate about literature. Apart from cracking the reader up, Peter Quinones also enlightens the reader on the importance of starting a story in a way that will capture your audience’s full attention. At no point does the reader feel bored as every page has something captivating. It is incredible how a few lines can get one absorbed in this form of literature.
Peter Quinones’ style of writing is unique. The author gets the reader absorbed in his work with just a few words. Every page in the book had a line that had me giggling. Some of my favorite story openers featured in Planet Q include: “Respect your parents, punk – they got through school without Google” “Have you ever known the despair of peeling wallpaper?”, “Dolores has so many skeletons in her closet, her apartment seems like a haunted house!” Some of the opening lines are risque, giving writers of multiple genres something to pull from.
Planet Q is a surprising book with a lot of comedy mixed in. The lines in this entertaining novel are things you will hear in your favorite songs, on social media jokes pages, and even hear from your favorite stand-up comedians.
‘You mean people post old, inaccurate pictures on dating sites?’ – random meanderings
Author Peter Quiñones is unique! Trace his output on Amazon or on the internet and such fascinating titles appear - THE DREAM FACTORY, STARTERS, POSTMODERN DECONSTRUCTION MADHOUSE, THE SOFT AND DELICATE FURY and now PLANET Q. There is no biographical information available, but visit his various websites and discover his creativity on many levels. In this book the author embraces a stream of consciousness manner of flowing non-related thoughts randomly on every page. The lines are at times hilarious, at times risqué, and at other times genuinely sensitive and thoughtful. Reading this book is an antidote for ennui: discover how visual word pictures can be as they float past the eye into the mind and imagination.
Some examples of Peter’s words are as follows: ‘What biologists call the thrifty metabolism in fetuses is almost always caused by prenatal malnutrition,’ ‘Hollywood just keeps making remakes of the remakes of the remakes,’ ‘I learned how to be a great lover with a used vulva puppet I found for nineteen bucks on Ebay,’ ‘Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote ”I love humanity but I hate people,” ‘Respect your parents, punk – they got through school without Google,’ ‘Praising a politician for erecting a bridge is like praising an ATM machine for giving you your own money,’ ‘All doctors do is talk you into dying,’ ‘Have you ever known the despair of peeling wallpaper?’ And every now and then he inserts some lyrical words such as ‘Even in my earliest years spent on a farm, I wanted to follow the brook to where it joined the river, follow the river to where it flowed into the bay, and then on across the seas, in pursuit of the horizon’s rim until I had seen all lands and people with my own eyes,’
The pleasure of strolling through Peter’s random thoughts increases with each visit to this plethora of ‘story openers’ – smiles, chuckles, raised eyebrows, and simply escape passages. Magic!
Planet Q by Peter Quinones shows creativity at its best. The author shares a variety of story openers, journals, and poems in his work. The themes range from sexuality, politics, spirituality, crime, death, grief, and popular culture. The author touches on trending issues like celebrity deaths, parenting, COVID-19, military unrests, and immigration. He has also dedicated some passages to highlight the plight of the average married man and woman in building and sustaining finance, and commitment. The author concludes with a passage from Bertrand Russell that sums up all of our lives, all of our experiences, and all of our knowledge.
What a huge success! The author’s writing style is different than anything I have ever read. Composed of short sentences interspaced by informative paragraphs and journal entries, the author also employs proverbs that I found to be thought-provoking. Popular slang is sparsely used in the book, making the book an easy, fast, and fun read. The vocabulary utilized by the author is engaging and simple to comprehend, though, caution should be taken by underage readers as there are numerous instances of adult language.
I like how the author uses rhetoric, puns, irony, sarcasm, and fictional anecdotes. The author also relates to his audience when he discusses social media and how polar its effects are to the millennials. He addresses sex work, parenting, drug abuse in schools, corrupt politicians, neuroscience and it's replacing most psychological concepts which make the reading very informative in my view. When he argues the authenticity of fortune-tellers and the limitlessness of the universe, I find myself relating to his frame of reasoning.
I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of its original content that differentiates it from many books out there. Reading this book will be a shocking and pleasant experience.
Planet Q, by Peter Quinones, is a short, hard-to-describe book packed with a variety of shocking, funny, disgusting, and heart-wrenching stories. Or rather, story introductions. Just when I want to know what happens next, I’m beginning an introduction to a different story. I felt my disposition change with each section, a small shock at the cut-off of one, and the introduction into another. Awkward, I believe would describe it. Yet, the principle of this book is after reading the introduction paragraph, if the story continued, “would you keep reading?” Realizing that, in most cases, yes, I would keep reading. And in a few, absolutely not.
Quinones’ style of writing is very unique. I have never read a book written in such a format before. In fact, I’d say his method of writing has never been done. Quinones is in a new writing genre by himself. There is a chance this new genre could become quite popular. Reading this book, I felt like I was reading free verse poetry, with no patterns or rhyming, yet it wasn’t poetry.
As for genre, as I stated earlier, I don’t believe this book could be categorized into one. Isn’t that in itself a form of a genre? I can’t imagine what the genre would be named. I enjoyed this book so much, I believe it is possible Quinones’s new genre could become developed and accepted by many readers.
I am giving, Planet Q, by Peter Quinones, 4 out of 5 stars. While I loved his creative process and the quirkiness of the book, I felt the book would have flowed much better had it had ellipses between the story-changing paragraphs, so as not to appear confusing to the reader. Or at least two blank spaces between stories. Then again, doing so could potentially have ruined Quinones’ intentional disorganized rhythm.
Planet Q by author Peter Quinones is a witty compilation of different story openers. Its originality stems from an underlying question: “If this was the first sentence of a story you are reading, would you want to continue reading?” And from that starting point, imagination and creativity are developed at a maddening pace. Through each of these opening sentences, the pacing moves quick as the reader jumps from one story opener to the next. I was captivated from the start as some of the story openers are ironic, comedic, strange, and really made me wonder what the story would be about. There were several instances where I laughed at some of the story openers and there were some story openers where I was really interested to know more. I found myself creating stories in my mind as I went along. Due to the variety of topics that the author touches upon the author provides entertaining characters, intricate plots and alluring perspectives. Quinones’s writing will appeal to many people and his writing will most definitely be the topic of conversation.
At first, I was a little confused because some of the story openers were longer than I thought they would be and I assumed they would’ve been broken up by bold letters or some sort of way to show the start of a new story opener. This didn’t take away from the story as I was intrigued from the start and kept reading.
This is the first book I read from this author, but it will certainly not be the last. From my point of view, Peter Quinones did a great job of captivating his readers with a unique concept. Planet Q is a breath of fresh air and entertaining. I will surely recommend this book to many of my friends.
A Wild Ride Planet Q by Peter Quinones is a one-of-a-kind short fiction novel that contains brief story openers. The story openers range from one sentence to a short paragraph. Not arranged in a particular order the purpose of this one liner is for the reader to decide if they would continue reading the story based off the first line they’ve read. This book definitely makes for an unconventional yet intriguing read. Quinones shows his artistic and creative side through his writing and shows that creativity has no bounds. The author touches upon a wide range of topics some that are shocking and some that make you laugh out loud. I am not a creative when it comes to writing stories, but Quinones’s story openers gave me the ability to create a short story. I was a little confused when I started reading this book because it is set up like a typical novel but you realize that the sentences are different and then you realize that the author just jumped right in with these story openers. I also enjoyed that the author presented these topics in an unbiased way which allowed me to form my own opinion. I laughed more than I expected which makes this a refreshing read. If these were a series of completed stories, I would read each one of them as long as Peter Quinones is the author of these stories! The stories have no relation to each other, they don’t overlap nor do the characters have anything in common, yet each one is equally charismatic and dramatic to the core. This has been an excellent reading experience and kudos to the author for shaking up the norm and providing an extraordinary read. I highly recommend it as this is a must try to give one’s imagination a wild ride.
A lost art with a new flair! Delightfully surprising and well done!
Planet Q, by Peter Quinones is a different type of literature I suspect most people will be accustomed to. If my memory serves me correctly, the author, Quinones, is writing in a genre called, "writing in a stream of consciousness."
This style of writing refers to a narrative technique where the thoughts and emotions of a narrator, such as our author, are written out such that a reader can track the fluid mental state of these characters or the author's train of thought. Many famous writers including Edgar Allan Poe and Leo Tolstoy used the technique in the 19th century, even before it was officially named. Mrs. Dalloway By Virginia Woolf is a great example of this technique.
This book doesn't have main characters like we are accustomed to, but rather opening lines to a short story. I would say the only thing that I wish this book had was dash marks in between the different story lines, just to have clarity when one thought begins and one ends, but I suppose it is half the excitement this way.
A quote I enjoyed from the book was, "Hubert Selby Jr. always said that The New York Times would not review his books but would certainly print his obituary.
This fucking lettuce tastes like wet newspapers."
I think if you are looking for a different book to read, Planet Q is a delightful read. Some of it contains a great deal of shock humor, so if you enjoy Frank Zappa or Howard Stern, combined with this literary form, it makes for a relaxing read.
When you’re at a loss for words, just say what’s really on your mind. That’s the gist of Peter Quinones’s book of story starters titled Planet Q. Some are thoughts people don’t want to say out loud, but in a story, writers have permission to be original with them. For writers, the hardest line to write is your first. Quinones supplies writers with hundreds of humorous, quirky, and at times risqué opening lines.
Depending upon the writer’s audience, many of the author’s story openers are great attention grabbers to keep myself and other readers excited about a story. Some of them made me laugh out loud and others had me shaking my head. For instance, the following lines, “My mother-in-law’s gone home after a weekend with us, so I can put away my can of Raid for now” or simply, “My kitten has a crush on the mailman!”, and “Spike was a history buff and a bookworm, so he kept trying to impress gorgeous women with his vast knowledge of war atrocities”. These can be very engaging - used in the right way. It all comes down to how the reader receives the words in these examples the author shares.
It became clear to me that many of Quinones’s story starters must be accepted for what they are, one man’s ingenious ideas to help get writers off page one and have fun writing your story. After I read this book, I asked myself if I would continue to read a story based on any of the author’s offerings. My honest answer is yes to some and no to others. Nonetheless, this was a fascinating collection of opening lines.
“ The consequences of your ignorance will become the content of your sorrow”
Don’t go thinking one of my favorite quotes from this book gives you any conception of what Planet G by Peter Quinones is about. Peter took random sentences short tib bits of thought and through them into one hundred and twenty pages. If you think that makes this less than the jewel it is you would be wrong I actually enjoyed not knowing what was coming next from his “Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote.” I love humanity but hate people” to “At some point in cosmic time our sun will be nothing but a white dwarf.” The fact his thoughts and sentences are so random is what makes it so could. The thoughts for the most part are grammatically accurate and he is random placements make them delightful. This book is definitely not for everyone some of his mature and sexual thoughts, quotes and snips can make you go, What? I do think this is a good resource to get if you need something to laugh about or just wonder about or perhaps to a fellow writer who would like to use his unique book for writing prompts which I found my own self doing when I was reading through this. I gave this book five stars not because it is the best book I have read this year but because it was a well-written completely unique book that I needed to read this year and for that alone it is well worth the five-star rating and even more. In these one hundred and twenty pages, I hope you find exactly what you need this year.
Planet Q by Peter Quinones is a unique and captivating book that invites readers to read many story openers and contemplate on whether they would continue reading the whole story just based on these story openers. Quinones covers a wide variety of topics, and the story openers vary in length from one sentence to a couple of sentences.
When I opened this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I must say after reading the first page, I was immediately hooked. I found myself chuckling while reading some of these story openers and there were some where I genuinely wanted to know more. The author really gets the reader thinking and you begin to create your own stories by reading these one liners. The author’s writing style comes off as conversational, so you feel as though you are sharing writing ideas with a friend. I found this book hard to put down because I wanted to read the next story opener and then the next. I feel like this would be a great exercise for anyone to try, to sit down and write what comes to their mind and try to build a story on that. Many of the story openers were very interesting and I would honestly read all of them that were turned into books.
Planet Q is a fascinating, engaging and entertaining read that I would read over again and even share with friends as a talking point.
Planet Q by author Peter Quinones makes for a peculiar read consisting of a short collection of story openers that contain either one sentence or a paragraph that touch upon various topics. The purpose of this set up is for the reader to read these story openers and decide if they would continue to read the story with just that one sentence. The author dives right into these story openers which can throw the reader off because the book looks like a story rather than one liner. Don't let this deter you as you will find reading these stories openers is entertaining and you will find yourself creating your own stories from these topics. Peter Quinones's writing is raw and humorous and the author doesn't sugar coat his thoughts. I found myself laughing at some of the story openers and even shocked and intrigued by others. I found myself choosing some of my favorite story openers and creating a backstory in my mind. This would be a fun book to read in a book club or to even discuss with friends. The author immerses the reader into his world and allows readers to let their imagination run wild and be creative. Quinones’s quirky personality and sense of humor really shows in his writing. Even if this isn't your cup of tea, I highly recommend you read this book as you will find it to be engaging and compelling.
Planet Q is an amusing and distinct book that contains short story openers to get the reader wondering if they would continue to read the book after reading the first sentence. Author Peter Quinones has brilliantly executed this idea and will shock and awe you as you read his book. This short book touches upon many topics and many are unexpected. I enjoyed reading Quinones’s work as it challenged me to think of stories to go along with the story openers provided. Planet Q is an invitation to immerse yourself into the author’s words and imagine. Filled with raw humor and some topics touch close to home which you will find yourself as the protagonist in the story you create. I found a sense of satisfaction after finishing this book. Part of what made this book so great was the bluntness of the author’s writing. Many events that happened today play a big part of the one liners in the book, which allows you to connect with the author’s words. My personal favorite is: “Praising a politician for erecting a bridge or a school is like praising an ATM machine for giving you your own money.” There is just so much raw honesty packed into a comical comparison. This line alone will make you want to pick up this book. I highly recommend Planet Q to those who enjoy a good laugh and a quick read.
A fantastic read Planet Q by Peter Quinones is a creative and rare read. The author broke the mold with this one. As I started reading, I realized that this book doesn’t fit into the norms of any literary genre and it detaches itself from the traditional compilation of short stories we are used to reading. The author presents short story openers which then prompts the reader to wonder if they would continue to read that story after having read the first sentence only. Quinones’s writing is thought provoking and engaging. You will find yourself wondering what the rest of the story is to some of these one liners. There is no order in how you show read this book and actually there is no rhyme or reason but just for pure enjoyment. This uncommon writing style allows the writer to set a small stage giving freedom to the reader to let their imagination run wild. Before I knew it I found myself creating in my mind a protagonist and trying to establish relationships between them. I was not sure what to expect when I read the summary of this book but once you start reading the book it’s hard to put down. This is a great book to share with friends and family and later have a discussion to see what types of stories everyone comes up with. I highly recommend this witty and raw book and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
A quirky read but worth it “Planet Q” is a compelling and fascinating novel written by Peter Quinones. With his novel, the author invites readers to read his work and decide if they would continue reading the story just from reading the first sentence. Each sentence is different from the last and touches upon past, current and present events. There are many scenarios provided by the author that compel the reader to create a story in their mind while they read along. Such an immersive and entertaining reading! This is one book that I would share in my book club just to see what others come up with. Quinones has hit originality with a nail on the head. No two stories are the same and each one makes the reader feel a different emotion. This book is a short and smooth read but you will find yourself taking longer to finish this book because you will jump around the pages and even put the book down to reflect on what you have read. Quinones gives readers a bit of everything and I liked the idea of an open ending for each story. This book will take your imagination on a wild ride full of laughter, shock, and even sadness. I highly recommend this book to those who are looking to push boundaries with their writing and get the creative juices flowing. Jump right in with an open mind!
In his quirky book Planet Q, writer Peter Quinones puts together the most eccentric set of story openers. This is not the author’s first book, and his previous works are easily recognizable because they are as unusual as this one.
In Planet Q there are no main characters or plot, in fact there is no story. Readers must bear in mind that this is not an ordinary novel. The book was written to provoke thoughts from the reader from just reading one sentence. If you read a couple of lines from a book would you continue reading? More than one hundred creative story openers can be found in this book. Some of them are simple, but most of them are unexpected, thought-provoking, and unusual. What the reader does with them is another story, I personally found myself stopping to think of a story to go along with this one liners.
Quinones is a peculiar writer and I commend him for sharing his thoughts with the world. His ideas are interesting and worth developing into short stories. I look forward to more work from this author and I encourage you to pick up Planet Q and see where his writing takes you. This is one book you can share with friends and have a discussion with later.
Author Peter Quinones gives his insight to hundreds of ideas to new authors or seasoned authors to story lines that could help them start a novel or short story. He is all over the charts with a wide array of topics that can spark an idea or plot to a story. His thoughts are mostly on opening sentences or paragraphs that are meant to capture a readers attention and make them want to curl up with a good story. Something that jumps off the page in the very beginning to keep them reading. His openers are thought provoking, funny, raunchy, serious, light hearted and so on. He gives the author just enough suggestion to get his brain started. Some of his openers are very deep and would require a lot of thought to go into a story with a good plot. He is trying to provoke a different way of thinking, teaching different ways of searching one’s brain for ideas. He is exercising your thoughts, how far can you reach, subjects that may have never crossed your mind, areas that you have no knowledge of and will research to learn more. Training your brain to look outside the box for different ideas. I think any aspiring author could find a subject, person, topic or place to write about with the help of this book if they are open to ideas. Who knows it could be their first best selling novel or series of novels. This book could be the best investment to their career.
Hands down, Planet Q is worth picking up just so you can say you have read it and be able to tell your friends about it! I found it super interesting and I’m glad that I had checked out the description before I started reading this book, to make sure I knew that it is a plethora of first sentences and random thoughts in a book.
I can’t comment much on the structure as there isn’t one, BUT, it’s pretty easy to tell when a new topic starts as each thought or one-liner is separated into new paragraphs - at least grammatically you know you’ll be reading something different each time.
The contents of the book itself are hilarious, thought-provoking and test the boundaries, but I think in a good way. The idea is to see if you would keep reading a book if those lines were the start of the story and to be honest, I think I would read every single one!
5 out of 5 stars for me based on the novelty of the book and the content. Well done on writing something different!
Definitely a different writing style. It's not like anything I've ever experienced. The quotes don't really tie-in together so it's hard to follow sometimes, although some of them are funny And/or insightful. It personally wasn't my style but I could see how some people would enjoy it
I got a kick out of this book. So many different first sentences/story openers. Some of them made me think, others made me laugh, and some made me go WTF? Interesting and could be helpful to writers.
Planet Q by Peter Quinones is not what you would expect to read in a book, ever! I like to read the “reviews” posted on or in the book description and one of the reviews stated “ "This creative collection of "story-openers" will have readers experience a range of emotions. From jaw-dropping, raunchy headliners to diving into the rabbit hole of deep thought processes, Planet Q is full of fun, laughter, randomness, and is quite naughty at times. No subject is forbidden in this book of wonders." This review was quite accurate except saying “naughty at times “ was completely understated! I am not a prude but while reading some of these head liners I literally blushed I am not a fan of that portion of the book . The book over all was a refreshing and new take that I enjoyed but I didn’t care for the nasty talk so I can’t give it five star rating. I would recommend this but only too adults that are ok with “dirty talk” God Bless!
