There was really nothing new in this book, it seemed to me a sort of summing up everything I read in this last year about brain and nutrition, but I have to say that If you have read nothing about this subject, this could be the right one to start with.
Once again confirms that feeling good is truly our own responsibility. Taking action regarding our own health, has never been as important as in this century.
Crazy! how all those reserch doesnt get to those who would benefit them the most. The brain is the most delicate organ we inherit so quality fuel is essential. I have a friend who suffer from important mental problems and when i talk to her about nutrition she tell me that she already eat healthy though alchool, white bread and high refined sugar are part of her diet and her psychiatrist probably doesnt know about cold water fish, zinc, vit b complex with folic acid and high dose vit c. To much brain washing of the population by advertisement destined to sell product you dont need, corruption, greed, anger, instead of raising awareness and intelligence. How much people would live a better quality of life if only they realise and not only know mentally that some food will make their life a hell without even knowing it! Like the story of the frog put in a pot of water and increasingly raising the temperature until she died when contrastingly you put her in already boiling one she would have jump right away. Like krishnamurti had said intelligence is being sensitive. Had problem concentrating and socialized all my life before changing my diet drastically and trying different aproach until i could figure out how food have that huge impact on your perception and ability to communicate. Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. But when you dont know you're in hell you wont do anything unless something disturb you and wake you up to something better i guess. So yes this is important information and a good book even if the content is a litle dry and repetitive. chapter 1 summary: fish oil ... 2 summary: fish oil + whole grains ... 3 summary: whole grain+ dark leafy green ... 4 .... : fish oil + fruit
If only nutrition would be that simple! enough for today
There’s nothing new in this book and the use of research and evidence based medicine is weak. In a nutshell, we need to eat well - less simple sugars, more wholegrains, vegetables and proteins. In fairness, it is 15 years old. Still, there was no ‘wow’ factor me at all.
If I could get all my friends to read this I would - everyone wants a better qulity of life, This book really helped me with overcoming post-natal depression. It also taught me to eat healthy to be emotionally & mentally healthy- I cannot put junk into my body & expect to cope adequately- not with all the additives in the food & the heavy metal in the water we drink & air we breathe.
