About the author

An author, musician, counseling psychologist, and animal rights activist, Dariel writes interracial/multicultural paranormal romance and dark urban fantasy featuring shifters, Nephilim, angels, and reluctant demons, all filled with action, alpha heroes, and strong heroines. As a child, she could always be found curled up with her dogs, cats, and a good book, even if the book was a dictionary or encyclopedia. Things have not changed much.

Dariel is a classically trained soprano, and plays more than 11 musical instruments. She also completed coursework and passed comprehensives for a Ph.D. in Instructional Design (ABD), tutors writing, algebra, and statistics, and readily admits to being a Netflix paranormal and action series binge-watcher.

Dariel Raye does a wonderful job with world building and her paranormal creatures are unique and well developed. In Gateway I, we get a dormant hybrid who is activated to lead and guide the new Chosen. Chosen are females with the ability to either destroy or redeem demons. All of her life Kat has known that she was different: she sees visions and has no family and only one real friend. When she encounters Gateway, she is drawn to him but can not understand the heightened level of connection she feels. However, she soon learns that he is a part of her past and her future. I really enjoyed this book; my only quibble was how fast Kat accepted the ritual and the information about her origins.....but maybe after so many years of uncertainty she was glad to find answers. I look forward to seeing where the next "Gateway" takes us!

Gateway and Kat . . .

Adrian Savoy (“Gateway”) is a shape-shifting demon hunter whose job is to protect and train the Chosen, human females who can either redeem or destroy demons. Katrina (“Kat”) was raised in an orphanage. But when she and Gateway meet, the two are completely drawn to each other. Kat was beginning to come into her powers but had not noticed them yet. He protected her at the club.

As she walked to her car, she knew someone followed her. She was grabbed and dragged across the parking lot. She thought of Gateway, and the kidnappers dropped her as she heard a scuffle and it sounded like claws against the pavement. Then Gateway stood above her and did not look happy. What is it about her that is pulling him? Why can’t he let her go?

Gateway is a being that has been around a long time and only appears when he is needed to deal with demons. That time is now and the person he is to bring over is Kat. His job is to protect and awaken her powers. Except Kat is different, daughter of a witch who was raped by a powerful demon she is believed to imbue amazing powers. There is a lot going on in this story that has to be understood to get through to the end. In the midst of all this is a developing love story and a continuing bromance.

He was raised after centuries of sleep to sheild and protect her from demons so she could pledge allegiance to him and the Alliance. Then he would be gone till he's called for another Chosen.
She was raised in an orphanage with only one friend. She saw therapists that said the darkness wasn't real, only in her mind. The nuns made her drink holy water.
When they met sparks flew, Gateway faces armed men and Kat is kidnapped by demons.
There's something special about her and he needs to know more.

This was a fantastic read and I just loved Gateway and Kat, there attraction has you fanning your face and there is so much packed into this book yet doesn't feel rushed, you get drawn into a world you want to stay in and and leaves you wanting the next book. . Another Good One

Daniel Rayie always amazes me with her story lines of what seems the down trodden women has a uncanny way out of their predicaments. With the breathtakingly handsome men to rescue them and bring an incredible future and purpose. Ah, to be one of them.

I found myself hooked from the beginning to the end with the well developed storyline. The characters are engaging and well developed with plenty of chemistry throughout the pages.
