Professor Kottemann explains the key foundational concepts that people have the hardest time grasping. First and foremost are sampling distributions – they are the key to everything. That’s why there’s a sampling distribution illustration on the book’s front cover.
Sampling distribution illustrations are used throughout the book to give readers an intuitive yet sophisticated understanding of a wide range of foundational concepts.
Even if you’ve taken statistics courses in the past, and even if you know the mechanics of performing statistical analysis, you’ll benefit from a better understanding of these foundations.

Jeffrey Kotterman’s book is an engaging and well-crafted guide to frequentist analysis in statistics. It skillfully covers core concepts, enriched with numerous examples and illustrative charts, akin to a lecture complemented by insightful slides. However, I fill that the reader would benefit from having a previous understanding on statistics (not a lot) to enjoy the full content of the book. It’s not difficult to get lost into Kotterman’s articulate and coherent presentation.
