In this moving narrative poem, Bob Carlisle and his daughter Brooke recapture the emotions so eloquently expressed in Bob's hit song which reached the top of the pop, country, Christian, and adult contemporary song music charts. Told in conversational verse between father and daughter, Butterfly Kisses celebrates the shared love, trust, and hope that create a unique bond between father and daughter. This Little Golden Storybook hardcover edition makes it a must-have for every daughter's bookshelf.
"I must have done something right , to deserve a hug every morning and butterfly kisses at night" . I am like 15 years late . But I guess no one is too old for beautiful emotional little books like this one <3
This story connects to my personal experience. As a parent of two, I think it is important to think about and vocalize the memories you have with your children. It is important for children to know that one, you remember, and also that you care. The main idea of the book was a parent going through the memories they have with their child from birth and naming it " Butterfly Kisses." Though that term doesn't have much to do with all the memories the parent experienced; I can identify with the emotional response of aging in children. I will always look at my children as my babies, no matter how old they get. I will not always treat them like children as they become adults, they will always be my babies.
If ever there was a children's story book that I could give extra star ratings to, then it would be this one. I was reading this book to my class, and caught myself getting all choked up. I had to say that I had a frog in my throat and would read it a bit later on in the day.
Such a beautiful book about a father watching his daughter grow up, and the beautiful things he has written about his child is really precious. I honestly recommend this book to everyone, as if all fathers treated their daughters like this - imagine how powerful these young girls would become. To be loved and respected, no matter what happens - it's just a fabulous book.
Any other song turned into a children's book just wouldn't work, but this one does. It held special meaning for me once (Dad is still very attached to the song). However, its values have ceased to align with my own - for example, I'm no longer religious and felt awkward reading those parts. My son was bemused by it but obviously he's not the target audience.
And here I am thinking of something from my own childhood as dated...!!!!
When I read this story I go back to my childhood. My dad used to read this book to me when I was a little girl. They storyline is perfect for little girls who need to know how much their dad really loves them. The pictures are very well done, simple but very meaningful. This book is so sweet and pure.
The song that inspired so many horrified screams and dives for the radio dial back in the late '90s had its own cash-in Little Golden Book! If sentimental pablum is your bag, here's your book, but there are so many much better classic Little Golden Book stories to share with kids. Found in my library's donation pile.
My dad use to read this book to my sister and I at bedtime. My sister love it alot she had the story memorized by heart. I wanted to read it to my sister one last time .as she sadly past away @ 47 I just wonted to write the words down for her serve . My library didn't have it thank a most amazing book
Fans of the song "Butterfly Kisses" will love this correlating picture book. The story does well of taking key moments from the lyrics and turning them into a story of a father and daughter interacting as she explores the world around her. The illustrations are well done as well.
If I could give more stars I would. My dad use to read this to me every night when I was a kid and this book means more to me now than when I was a kid. Such a beautiful little book about a father and daughters love.
A cute children's story (primarily for girls) based on the song, "Butterfly Kisses." It has the potential to be a tearjerker of a story. Target audience is probably in the 3-8 year old range.
While this is a beautiful little book, it reads more as a personal conversation between one father and daughter and doesn’t really apply to all father and daughter relationships
This book is based on the hit song Butterfly Kisses. I remember getting it when the kids were little. We used to give each other butterfly kisses all of the time. (so tender)
A father’s love letter to his daughter, precious but honestly didn’t really move me in any way, the backgrounds were beautiful but the faces were a bit uncanny
This is such a sweet expression of love between a father and daughter. I love the back and forth and the butterflies and illustrations, and the words have an enjoyable cadence.
5/5 Stars Preschool-1st grade Non Fiction This book has always been my favorite. After receiving this book as a child it was something that I always fell back on and could connect with. This book teaches a whole lot about love and it is written in like a conversation or in verses (as it was based on a popular song). This is a book that I will definitely read to my kids someday as it is something that I thoroughly enjoy and I believe that every little kid, although mainly girls can connect with it more, will take some enjoyment out of it.
Personal Reaction: A great story of the relationship between a daughter and her father, and the special bond they share. It contains great illustrations using water colors that really show the emotion coming from every page.
Purpose: This could be a book used for the 1st-3rd grade level. It is very possible that many students have parents that are over seas, or maybe they don't get to see them as much. This is a book that could be used in a lesson about families, and special bonds. Until the girl is older in the book, her and her dad always share butterfly kisses. This book is a great way to teach family values. This picture book can really show other students how the littlest things in a relationship can mean the absolute most and how those special moments will stay in your life forever.
This was another book that I read all the time as a child. I loved it because my dad would read it to me, then we gave each other butterfly kisses, it was something special just for the two of us. I now have my husband read this story to our baby girl, and they give each other butterfly kisses. This story is about a little girl and her daddy. They love each other so much, and they tell how they first started giving each other butterfly kisses. They go through different activities that they share together, and the dad explains how he loves watching her grow, and how he loves being her daddy. The dad talks about how he is sad because he knows that she is growing up, and that one day she will get married and leave. And at the same time the little girl is thinking how she cant wait to grow up and get married so she can have a little girl to show her butterfly kisses.
A father is talking to his daughter. He explains to her how much he loves her. The little girl responds back and forth with her daddy. She recalls how he taught her how to give a butterfly kiss. They recall tickle fights, dancing on daddy’s toes, and saying their prayers at night. The dad says how proud he is of her with all she has done. They talk about a time when she will grow up and get married and have her own daughter. She will teach her own daughter how to give butterfly kisses.
I love this book. (It made me cry.) I remember the song that it is based on and it made me remember memories with my own “daddy.” I would not take this into a classroom but it would be a wonderful book to read to your own children in your home. It is a heart string pooler!
This book tells of the relationship between a father and his daughter. It starts with how he taught his little girl how to give butterfly kisses, then it moves to displaying all of the things the father and daughter do together and ends with the little girl saying how she will never forget her father and will pass down the knowledge of butterfly kisses to her future little girl. I wasn't a really big fan of the illustrations of this book and the border of leaves that surrounded the text, but I loved the story it told. It is precious and flows well. I would use this in the classroom as a way to wind down and have a little break.
"Butterfly Kisses" is a heartfelt narrative poem that captures the profound emotions beautifully conveyed in Bob Carlisle's renowned song. The poem is a tender exchange between a father, Bob, and his daughter, Brooke, celebrating the deep love, trust, and optimism that forge a special connection between a father and his daughter. This Little Golden Storybook edition is a valuable addition to any daughter's collection, serving as a cherished reminder of the unique bond shared between a father and his child.
Butterfly Kisses was one of the first books that my dad gave to me when I was young. I remember my dad reading this book to me to tuck me into bed every night. This was an emotional book for my father. Reading this book helped me learn at a young age, real life connections. It helped me connect emotion and personal experience to this book. I was able to connect with the characters in the story and compare to it in my life.
I grew up listening to this song by Bob Carlisle and when I learned that there was a book form I was so excited. I think it gives such a powerful message about the relationship between a father and his daughter and how small things can mean the absolute most. From butterfly kisses and saying prayers together at night! For me it also teaches wonderful values of prayer, the bond between father and daughter, marriage, and much more. This is a book I would for sure have in my home for my children.
This is a wonderful book that I would like my daddy read for me one day, but I did not have this opportunity. For girls who love their daddy and are living together, this is a wonderful book to create bond between daddy and daughter. LE: Write a expressive letter for daddy telling them how much they love them.
The book is about a strong loving bond between a little girl and her father. The story goes on to talk about how much they love each other, and the different activities father's and daughter's do together. I would bring this book into class to show the students' that they could be daddy's little girl or even a daddy's little boy.
This is one of my favorite song :) It's actually the song my dad is going to dance with me at my wedding. I absolutely have loved this song for so many years and I was so excited that they made it into a book. I wish the words were more told in the Fathers perspective and I wished they had used more of the song lyrics but the illustrations were sweet and the story-line made me tear up :)
Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle and his daughter is a cute story about a relationship between father and daughter. If you've ever heard the song, "Butterfly kisses" by Bob Carlisle, it has the same concept. It's such a sweet story to read. I would read this to a class room and show the kids the role of a father, even when some kids don't really have a father figure in their lives to look up to.
